Greetings Norrath,

Since Customer Service is receiving petitions and questions regarding the free Character Transfers, I wanted to take a moment to clarify some aspects of the service and clear up some confusion with regards to names and character moves.

In the Reminders post that Grimwell made, it was previously stated that:

  • If you and another player on the target server have characters with the same name - priority for name ownership will be given to the person who created the character first. If that player has not logged in for the last sixty days, the younger character will gain the name. The renamed character will have an 'x' added to its name to make it unique.

This priority applies only to characters that have been moved as a result of a Server Merge and not via the Character Transfer Service.  The regular Character Transfer Service Guidelines apply for the free server move period:

  • Character names are not guaranteed on Character Transfers between two separate servers. If your character's name has already been used you will need to enter a new name in the field provided (subject to availability and the terms and conditions of the Character Naming Policy).

In short, if you use the Character Transfer Service to move your character to another server at any time (including the free move period) and your character name is in use by another player on the destination server, that name belongs to the character on the server you have moved to and we will not be able to grant you the name.  If you do not choose a new name during the character transfer process, your character will likely receive an "x" appended to their name. 

If you end up with an "x" appended to your name after using the Character Transfer Service, please wait to petition these issues until after the free move period is over (currently scheduled to end on May 9th) and our GMs will be happy to assist you with them.  When submitting your petition about your name, please be sure select the EverQuest II Gameplay category and the Character Name Issue subcategory so we can assist you as quickly as possible.

I have been to the character transfer screen 3 times now....each time I get to the end and it says "Transaction on hold by game"...

What does that mean?

Dude you asked in how many threads now? Go in game, delete ur mail. Clear ALL items out of broker including your boxes. Place ALL your house items in house vault.

Now go try again and congrats.

Tried to transfer a toon today and it wants credit card info??? Do I skip it? Or are the free moves done.

Until the 9th it is free, according to anothe SoE post it said just to put all 1's in the CC number

The character transfer service will not let you proceed if you dont fill in the box when the name is taken.   So it seems you have to put in your own x if your going to petition. 

Also I did not see the name issue in the drop down menue for subcatigories.  Maybe just over looked it though.

One reason for number of peitions might be that the end of the free moves has been extended.  My husband for example sent in one petition and got a reply from customer service via email  to wait until the 8th to resubmit it ( which he did ) so now he has the 2nd one in early again.
