Can someone give me some tips regarding these two spells and how to use them in a raid environment or group really. Oberon seems great but it stuns, so you cant do anything else, how do people use this? Do you guys simply click it on for a few seconds and treat it as a quick ward or is it simply a AFK heal? Torpor is kind of confusing me also, i'd be VERY relucant to [Removed for Content] off the MT and cast this as it reduces the attack speed, and given that zerkers are all about dps, this kinda seems giving with one hand and taking with the other.

torpor  only after the tank is set in position.  if the tank loses  agro  try to cancel it as fast as possible.  but the regen ward  and HOT  is great.  I think I heard its the second largest ST direct heal in game.  not sure there.

As for Oberon.  There are so many ways to use it.  Just find one way and get used to it.  Some use it on pull to prevent burst damage and cancel it.  Other save it til the mob is  controlled  and debuffed then cast it.      Best bet would be to use it in combination with the attendant pet, and or torpor,  then oberon.   Bolster before wont hurt either,  but just play with it is your best bet.

This is coming from a raid mystic.

On raids, I usually use torpor first, then debuff the mob with Lamenting Soul, then ST ward. And then I just keep torpor on the tank the entire fight. It's SO efficient.

I rarely use Oberon Barrier, but when I do it's usually because I'm low on power. I can still use my mana regen clickies when it's up. Just remember to have redone debuffs before activating it.

Oberon can be nice when you know a longer duration stun is coming and you will be stunned for a few seconds (usually when the stun is uncureable or infeasible to cure). Also, when crap hits the fan and your other timers are down, use Oberon as an extra emergency single target ward. Throw it up just long enough for that first tick to be used, then take it down and continue to cast. I would never cast a heal before lamenting soul lands (unless the tank is deep red/orange in which case I would use my instant and continue debuffing). Other priests don't have nearly as many debuffs to worry about, let them heal the initial spike damage while you eliminate the spike damage (by reducing the mobs offensive capabilities by a serious amount with your debuffs).

I do use oberon a lot. I Have it M1 and all 5 Mystic AAs spent on it. When it crits it is a 3.5k regenerating ward, which is incredible.

But you have to be careful. Your group shall wait until MT has aggro. Inform group that you are stunned for 36 sec and that they should keep an eye on their aggro management. Once they care you'r fine...

I usually cast this way..... Have GRP-Ward up before pull, cast Bolster during pull, debuff with lamenting soul, cast Oberon ....

For RAID's it is also incredible because it has the best Mana/Heal relation.... Image you have ( when it crits ) a 3.5k ward every 4 or 5 sek....

When you die during combat and you are rezzed...cast Oberon on MT once you get up... The advantage is that - although you'r stunned - you can use manapotion, use clicki e.g. mana-font, use nek-heart. That a big advantage to get your mana up but MT still has a regenerating ward on himself....

I use Torpor for healing cloth caster, because once again it has an incredible healing/mana relation...and cloth caster dont realy bother on the 25 % reduced attack speed...

 Cheers

I'll prefix this all with the "no i don't know everything" and "this is all opinion" disclaimers

Oberon (and Oberon Barrier) -

I have it at master I with 5 AA's.  I find in groups it holds up to heroic damage extremely well - as long as the tank holds agro its basically 36 seconds of his/her health not moving.  In raids, well, some fights it's great, other fights not so much... Basically whenever I use it in a raid, I make sure lamenting and haze are both up first (st dps debuff and st slow) to help keep the mob damage from overwhelming oberondepending on the encounter I may make sure group slow and group str/resistance debuffs are up also.  I am more likely to use it if there is another shaman in the raid, and part of my oberon macro for raids is I /tell another shaman I am using it.  I am more likely to use it in long, drawn out fights where power is potentially an issue and less likely in intense damage fights, or fights with memwipe where the agro is prone to bouncing.

Torpor -

If someone finds me a torpor master I, I will make them rich.  Anyways, I have always been a little afraid of the tank losing agro due to me casting torpor, but I don't think its ever actually been a big problem.  Of course, if you actually tell the tank what the consequences are, there's a chance he/she will be up in arms and insist you never cast it again *shrug*.  In groups, if we can win the fight without me using torpor, I don't use torpor.  In raids, again, if its trash, I don't use it.  Against named mobs, I will usually use it (there are exceptions).  I am the only mystic in my raid alliance, so on a given night if we do happen to have a defiler or two in addition to me, torpor gives me s form of healing thst the defilers can't do - that means more healing in general.  I try to avoid it in situations where agro is a potential issue or situations in which the tank may have to move. (for example, I do not use it against Goranaire and I do not use it if I am healing an offtank that has to clean up adds).

Lots of good info here about using them. I'll just add that I've found it incredibly useful to make them both macros that announce both to the raid and the group that I'm casting them.

The wizards were bad about casting fusion just as I'd torpored the tank, and since we have no coecers or dirges or assassins or swashy hehe agro control is tough sometimes. And torpor followed by fusion was a bad day for the wizard who did it.

Since we walk a fine line with the agro, we have an over zealous monk that is actually the usual recepient of my torpor. Reminds her to back off and that she isn't the MT.

All of our healers announce when they do their stun heals. It works out well for the rest of us.

I use Oberon in my general heal cycle, if the group has a decent tank and I'm sure that nobody else is going to be getting secondary agro.  With Oberon at M, and five AA pumped into it, the only time I've seen a mob claw through it was an epic encounter gone wrong.  Otherwise the tank is going to receive little if any damage until the duration expires. Torpor, I use as my "main" heal, if there was a major damage spike and a mob chewed through both wards.
