I've been wondering for some time whether or not one can summon the book familar with a 2 hander to get the 3.6% crit bonus and then switch to a one hander and secondary item and still keep the crit bonus. I know the familar stays the way you summoned it while you're still in the zone but once you zone out it switches to whatever you have in hand.

Yeah you can, but as soon as you zone it changes into either the gargoyle or drake depending on what ever you re-equipped in your primary.

I've got in the habit of equipping my two-hander before I zone. Once zoned I equip my one-hander. It saves a few seconds because you don't have to kill the pet, and recast with the two-hander.
