I am creating a player that is not a "cookie cutter" player.  To me, it is more fun than being like everyone else.

I am going to try Manits Leap.

Who else has tried it and how do you like it?  I am going to try it however the results come back, but I want to know if I should be "excited".

Almost a must have for PvP, otherwise - fluff skill (IMO) unless you like knowing your next hit will be a critical.

it's nice to have in pvp, but it's broken imo.  if there's much of a diff in elevation between you and your target it will fail, and the timer will be at 1 minute.  sometimes it fails for no apparent reason, and once again, you have a 1 minute re use.

I was always a big fan of Mantis Leap--No.1 it is fun and No.2 it's a guaranteed crit (even when the leap fails you still have 10 seconds to get a hit off and it will crit).  It works especially well if you use a 2H weapon and just use an autoattack after you leap (I got around 1000-1300 damage autoattacks with the Bo of Flowing Blood equipped).  However, the 4-4-8 method on STA WIS and INT is unbeatable for just doing damage.  But I can definitely understand skipping the wisdom line in favor of Mantis Leap, even if other Monks frown upon it.

Yeah this is a fun ability but that's about it. The guaranteed crit is almost pointless. Not enough to make it worth more than other lines. And considering that in WoW warriors get this at like level 15 or something, it's not that special. For pvp I'm sure it's awesome though.

I've found it to be one of the most useful abilities for PvP, I wouldn't trade it. For the last 4 months or so that I've been using it in PvP, I've had very few problems using it. It's not as sensitive to terrain as some people say, and it fails probably 15% of the time, which isn't too bad. Granted, I don't think it works if the person is too high below or above you in elevation, and they have to be in line of sight (but for PvP, your enemies usually want to keep you in line of sight unless they're running, which makes it easier). But seriously, it's a godsend when a mage has you rooted, about to nuke the crap out of you, and you can teleport right to him to kick him in the face with a stun/knockback =)

I used it for awhile and found it to be hardly helpful in pvp and completely useless in pve so i switched out of sta line to wis. It is all dependant though on what you find yourself in situationally most often. Not many people allude me unless they just dont engage. Also might dpend on server you play. Vox is fairly low populated and hardly ever any need for it as not many run or those that do dont til there low enough that there screwed just by sprinting and finishing. Nagafen etc might be a total different situation with the higher population so might be more useful more often. Its always worth testing out aa's and finding what you like best though as everyone plays a little different.

I was very disappointed in it. Not thrilled about any of the brawler finals!

At first I thought it was like the Bruiser ability (can't get to the name atm), just like with Mantis Leap it teleports you to the target BUT it also teleports you back to your old location (with the mob). I find this very useful in some situation to pull mobs. Needless to say I had other expections from Mantis Leap, but I couldn't find any "usefullness" in Mantis Leap and during combat if I was too close to a mob it wouldn't go off, so you had to make a distance to cast mantis leap, kinda pain when the mob follows you...

I think the Bruiser ability is Sonic Fists... Could be wrong. Yeah, I was expecting something like that. Luckily the forced respect was the next day so I got a freebie... Well sort of. I get the impression from the Brawler and Monk AAs they think that we are 1. Satisfied with our natural abilities, 2. That we are too powerful, 3. That we are perfectly fine with being the 2nd, 3rd, or 4th choice for groups, 4. That we don't need group enhancing abilities because we look hot in a Gi, 5. They thought for sure we wouldn't notice.

Oddly enough I believe I still have Mantis Leap I use it mostly in PvE as a method of getting past other mobs ot getting to them on an even area. When it works of course. Then again I solo most of the time, every guild I've been in breaks up or goes ghost town soon so I bother little with raids. SMILEY

Cool quote, Darkflower, but it's customary to credit the person you are quoting.

The main advantage to Mantis Leap for me is that it makes it so that Devastation Fist very rarely fails.  It still helps to approach from behind the mob, but it doesn't seem to make much difference when I warp in and POW!, down goes the mob.  Not that it really matters, as the damage already kills the mob, but ML makes the DF a critical hit, which gives a very impressive damage.  I enjoy instakilling vampires in CMM for 23k+ dmg.
