Some coercers give other coercers a bad name. I guess it's really funny to park charmed mobs on top of afk people and then zone, camp, or otherwise dump them on afk people, but I personally don't do it.

Last night I was playing my mystic alt, afk at the mender in bonemire. When I came back to the keyboard, I was being attacked by a corpse candle. Luckily, I returned in time, and had no repair bill to pay, but all I can think about it is how this guy is going to ruin it for all of us. I must admit, I like being able to exact revenge when necessary, or to help the botters pull more mobs, but random attacks on afk people I'm afraid will end up getting us "fixed".

Don't be a dillhole. You're going to ruin it for all of us.

/agree

Hate when people do this, One time on my coercer in SOS i had to run for my life and zone out, pet in tow, then Zoned rightback in to recharm my pet so it didn;t eat the people that were AFK at zone in.

I totally agree with everything you said except one part, "You're going to rune it for us all". What are they going to do? Take away our charm? Maybe put no charm mobs in the game? But again, not only does it give Coercers in general a bad name, it will also give your guild a bad name.

I came across a level 2 char named "Campit" sitting in a "safe" spot in the Bonemire. Camping the x4 (Duke something) that pops there maybe, or who knows what. He's probably still there and was there for 4 days when I was playing around the area. What about this situation, what would you guys think? Is it really fair that there are "safe" places to camp bots to look for named spawns? Shouldn't anywhere outside of a city/NPC area be considered hostile?

If you were getting attacked by a corpseflame near one of the cloud stations, did it ever occur to you that charm might have broken on it's own as the Coercer flew away to another island? Charmed mobs will stay inactive on the preceding island until the Coercer arrives at said island destination. So it might not have actually been on purpose. Rigas - A smarter Coercer would have broken the charm WHILE running down the stairs BEFORE you got to the entrance, thus negating the need to come back in and re-charm. I disagree with this entire post. If you go afk ANYWHERE where stuff actually cons to you and could theoretically kill you, you my friend are in the wrong. Soon as that AFK tag goes up you have taken the risk for a possible train, zone bug, charmed mob or a jerk that has the god ability to charm, being able to kill your sorry [I cannot control my vocabulary]. Am I one of these evil Coercers, no. Do I know people that will do this, why yes I do.  Oh, and take this into consideration for a second, on PVP THERE IS NO SAFE PLACE TO AFK OUTSIDE THE CITIES. I vote this post to be worthy of SU&P, stop the whining. EDIT: I take that back... the only safe place to AFK is in your own instance zones. Besides which... you're on your own.

I'm guilty of it but only because I have some pet peeves against botters.  Plat botters that farm money or instances etc... whatever they just end up increasing the supply of rare drops and since I'm not a big seller it doesn't interfere with my gameplay.  Plat botters that farm contested areas like Kaladim or MM Catacombs get on my nerves because they are literally taking it away from me illegally with bot programs.  In those cases... I.... try to make their botting session a little more difficult.

Yeah, I enjoy helping the botters too. Ultimately, I think it doesn't really impact the botters much, and is more just wasted time on my part, but it's still fun to be able to do it at all. That was the point of the post. I've seen several posts from non-coercers asking that we be nerfed because of the abuse of the ability. I'd hate to see it happen.

And, as for Fnard's comment about people going afk being in the wrong... Heh... Good try.

I know but the Troll doesn't always think of that when he is fleeing for his life SMILEY

Nope. /afk (4 characters to type) Most dangerous way to leave your character while actually away from the computer. /exit (5 characters to type) safest way to walk away from the computer. Casting a self invis / sneak before AFKing. 2, maybe 3 clicks. Also much safer than just pop-ing an AFK tag. Camping to character selcet. 2 clicks. Just as safe as the second option but saves loading time. Yup. You're wrong. Just typing /afk and walking away is a CHOICE to leave your character vulnerable. The other 3 options are FAR safer and 1 of which can also still host the /afk tag. So, yeah totally in the wrong. Your choice, your death. Have a nice day.

Roleplaying guys... if you want to be evil, be evil and do it.  It doesn't give coercers a bad name, it gives you a bad name.  And if you don't mind it, then go nuts.  It's fun.  SMILEY

I also play on a pvp server, so if a lvl 4 Q is sitting there scouting FP activity... trust me I will charm, /petstay, break mez... run and then follow back to see the Q die.  There is a pvp range in zones where I can't attack, so I will continue using this tactic to get them killed.

We all can't be good!  SMILEY

belive it or not I camped out a few times in populated areas while i had a pet charmed before I realized what was actually happening when i camp while a mob was charmed.   I'm sure it irked some folks but I had no clue that was happening.

Lol, this never bothered me, but then, I'm guilty of this activity. Possession used to make this activity so much better. I used to Possess the gnome guards at Bonemire. I'd pop Rampage, Open Wounds, Counterattack, then pick somebody (pet class, damage shield class, buckler/lunge reversal). Cast an AOE, then mid-cast cancel Possession. The AOE would finish casting, but as an NPC attack, and it would aggro the person. Sometimes it almost one-shot a few casters. They've fixed everything since then. Riposte no longer puts you in combat, reactive damage. Then Possession just sucks now. (I was part of the Toxx -> Guk AFK killing crew SMILEY SMILEY

Camping/zoning pets is still fun. Moreso on PvP. Like mentioned above, taking out those grey spies. Then in Nizara, dropping group and attacking everyone with Flame Claw... then when they kill you your pet goes aggro and kills them. SMILEY

What server was it on, I am sure I have had a few stray corpse candles last night.  None on purpose mind you was not after anyone.

I have even taken out some grouped with me people after finishing up for the night, not thinking about it.  I have been in groups and I try and make sure I am last to zone out or port out and had some wondering why I was waiting and pretty much had to tell them it was so my little friend next to me doesn't kill them.

As for corpse candles they break on that long fly from one island to another, I thought they went back to where they were first found as when I fly back thats where they are but usually thats a few minutes later as some of the flights in bonemire are quite long.
