bad performance -- any suggestions?

Hello Guys Just in the past 3-4 weeks I've noticed very choppy performance. I'll be galloping along and all of a sudden I'll freeze up and stutter out. I'd hate to think it's my hardware because I bought this laptop just to play EQ2: Alienware AMD Turion 64 Mobile 2 GB RAM XP Service Pack 2 NVIDIA GeForce GO 7900 256 MB Forceware version 84.74 Video BIOS 5.71.22.26.11 Any suggestions you could offer would be much appreciated!!
