Has there been any info about this? I imagine we will be able to someday. Everytime I recall I have to zone again into my house and most of the time if I log out and log back in, it will load me outside my house in SQ. But strangely sometimes it will load me inside the house.I really would like to be able to just call straight into my house.

1. When the spell gets changed to "Call of Your House".

2. When all player houses become full permanent zones of the game that will always exist forever.

Your house is an instanced zone. You can't gate into it because the game has to create it first. More importantly you have to pay rent on it, so the game has to make sure you've paid your rent up-front. It doesn't just work that way where you can just pay your rent when you cast the spell. You have to be at your house door to do so.

I understand that. They could do it like you said juust have it check your rent before you call. I'd think we will be able to do it sometime but just wondering when.

But thats just the thing: You can't pay your rent unless you click on the door. They could make it so that you can't gate back if you owe rent, but that would be denying the player a needed option of transporting back to his home city. There are even certain spots in the game where a player can get physically stuck, and calling out is the only way you can escape.

Hmm yup you got another point there lol. So I guess your first though was right, they need a "Call Home" one. Maybe it can have the same reuse timer since I don't think they would want us to have 2 seperate calls. It could just share the timer like some spells do. That would work right?

The ONLY way that this could work, would be if before "Phone Home" starts casting, it checks your rent. If your rent is due, it won't cast, and you'll get the error message that "sorry you cannot phone home because your rent is overdue" or something.
If your rent is due, you must get to your house the old fashioned way. and then pay the bouncer at the door.

But still, then you have the problem of this being an instanced zone which, unless you leave a secondary-account merchant alt in there all the time, this zone has to be created before you can zone into. not just load, but create.

Either way, you can get yourself dmn close by resetting your bind point to in front of your house door.

Maybe it can be tied to your escrow somehow?  If you have an escrow balance, it's useable.  If you don't, it's greyed out until you deposit and you're only then able to use the city call.  Then there's no need to auto check for rent, the escrow pays the rent.

It jsut can't be done...try to imagine for a second what the lag would be like with thousands of open instances within the Qeynos and FP cities....all being held open. People complain about lag now- that would be unbearable.

It would crash the servers, actually.

Easily, especially after the server merge....the drag was gone after the non-necessary NPC clean up in Qeynos, but I've noticed it is coming back. And it takes a lot for me to notice drag....so my guess is that the NPC's that were removed have been watching the Matrix and are becoming sentient, drag-inducing programs, intent upon returing to Qeynos harbor... SMILEY

I thought there was a plan in the works to be able to use th eboatride to go straight to your destination, as opposed to only Nek and TS....and a return from those locations as well. What about that...would cut zoning down a little at least? And if a new call is needed...it most certainly is Call of Sky SMILEY

From a programmers perspective calling home would be very possible (with the exception of the rent thing), after all when we click on our door to enter our home a procedure is started which creates the instance for our house. Now if you were to bind within that instance it simply saves the bind location as the procedure instead of an actual (x,y,z) coordinate.

1 porting into home means no payments
2 set bind point at the door of your home

This is actually very possible from a programming perspective.  The spell can be used as the exact same function as clicking on the door, with of course a little tweakage.  Those who said that it can't be done because it's an instance, well, how do you think you get into the instance in the first place.  It loads it then puts you in it.  You do not have to have the instance open 24/7.  The spell will do the same thing the door would do.  It's just a matter of whether or not SOE wants to spend time programming it and balancing it to make it feasible.

There are other issues I would like to see resolved first...nerfed items, buggy raid zones, etc etc...
