I know there have been different strategies talked about by people on how to beat Matron. Some are to swarm her with Brigands, others are to /pray, but I say just keep trying in your own way, keep your dertermination up and.....

Ah, GalaxyQuest.On my server the raiding guilds have started paying people (sometimes more than 5pp EACH) to come and just clear the trash swarm mobs to get the Matron.

Indeed, reflecting Enfeeblement with a illusionist probably did make it easier than Chel' Drak.

Those guilds using that strat may find it more difficult now with the newest update :smileytongue:

- The Direvine Matron will no longer be affected by her own attacks that have been reflected back to her.
- All the creatures in Blackscale Sepulcher can now be effected by spells that target undead.

easier than chel'drak? then why did it take so long to kill?Chel'drak is a very easy encounter, not to mention instanced, i dont even know how you could even compare the 2.as far as people that used spellshield to beat the encounter, <3 noobs.

The people who say it is easier are the people who figured out a unique strategy that worked very well against the Matron. It's allong the same lines as those people who figured out they could charm the Spirit Swarmer from MO and use it against that contested. In both cases the devs have closed those loopholes. Neither was technically exploiting though, just not an intended way for those contested to be beat.

this [expletive haxx0red by Raijinn] debuff (enfeeblement) .....
 
the noncureable traumadebuff wich allways lands on our mt .....
 
edit: we know the debuffs , i just wanted to know if anyone else had the same prob that 90% of our attempts it lands an the tank
 
it was just a question, but what to expect....

2 weeks of testing just to get 1try without a debuff trough 100% SMILEY

Apparently all you have to do to kill the matron is charm the named guardian's out front of chel'drak, ken-oh and the other guy.  They hit for 40% of the mobs health, and are quite charmable.  With these pets a good coercer,  can actually just bring along a bunch of people to take care of the 2 annoying mobs that pop before her and then they can solo the matron with ease.  Considering how easy the first two are, you can pretty much bring any [Removed for Content] guild you want for those, and then let then go afk while you take her out.Takes about a minute from what I  understand.  Almost makes me wish I had a coercer.  /sigh

I'm figuring your being sarcastic and just want to take a shot at Coercers for some reason.

what do you mean? this bug has been used by at least 1 guild to date, its a sad,sad thing to be sure.

Ethereal Legacy used the charm method for their Matron kill yesterday (think killing the last mob took them what...a whole minute).With the easy assumption that it wasn't SOE plan to make the mob that trivial, the exploit will hopefully get fixed.It was a creative find on their part, but their behavior before and after(First denying they did it, then admitting it once people said they had logs and video) seem to reflect knowledge that it was exploitive and not using the game mechanics as SOE attended.I don't know who pubear is, but he isn't being sarcastic.If it is considered exploitive, SOE probably should delete these messages if they haven't yet done a hotfix.Once someone figures out the charm, the kill is so trivial that a guild using it really has not shown any skill. If the charm was an intended technique then SOE should really make Matron loot be junk.

Hmm, this thing sounds bad. I hope this will be fixed quick.

It's creative too to find a bug like this, but it make's the whole encounter trivial.

Our first attempt to kill Matron was luck (with not getting the debuff on our MT during 100%), but at the second time we understood this nice encounter and killed Matron in a way it was intended.

To use a bug to kill her, is like doping yourself to win at olympics. I don't think someone can have a good feeling by doing it this way.

What I find very funny is I sent a PM to a few devs about this and how it could have been fixed with some basic beta testing. One of the Devs PM'd me back with an almost I dont care because its not my encounter attitude. The exact thing he said was; "Please feel free to /bug issues that you find in game or if you do know who designed a particular encounter, PM them directly.". The problem with things such as /bug and /feedback is how long it takes for such things to be fixed. The problem with posting it on the forums is you arent supposed to publicly post exploits or bugs. Lastly, the problem with sending a PM to the encounter designer is very rarely does the general public know who designed what and how often do they check their PMs. GG sony!

Well, they know about it and have taken care of the issue so it can't happen again, until they fix the mobs. They know what guilds used these mobs to kill matron.Nothing will probably happen though unfortunately as the guild that exploited the MO for something like 20+ master chest only got like 3 days off.The important thing is, this can not be used again as a way to kill Matron and cheapen all the hard work many guilds have been putting in to try and kill it.There are links on the main pages for reporting exploits instead of waiting for a dev team member to get thier PM, etc. which could be days.One of them is eqcs@soe.sony.comOf course, don't flood the emails with crap things that /petition is designed to handle but if you have knowledge of an exploit.

Wow, I was wrong. This amazes me that this works. Even more amazing the responses Kriddle got when he reported it. But hey, there is a posotive side I guess. At least people found out about it so that whatever Dev is in charge of this encounter can deal with it in whatever way is apropriate.

Every encounter has many different methods to deal with it. Some of them have been dicover, some of them have not yet. why? cuz ppl stoped dicovery after they see other ppl were using a way to beat the encounter and start copy it. It does NOT mean there is no other ways to beat it. 

 

Matron is not an exception. like I mentioned b4, there is a ez way to beat her. But no one found out yet :http://eqiiforums.station.sony.com/eq2/board/message?board.id=zones&message.id=23939

 

And if devs dont think this is a bug. Then, it is the easy way to beat this encounter.

if the devs WANT you to beat the encounter that way, then why is it getting fixed? and anyone who does this can say its legit all they want, everyone else will still laugh at you and know that you didnt deserve the drops.
