So I am minding my own business trying to pick up explore points for my acheivement exp running through Lava Storm, well I go into Temple of Sol Ro and run down through it. Everything is grey to me at 60 and I go into this one room and lag hits me for a second and then the death screen comes up saying I had died. I thought I must have lagged out into lave until I see the one message..

Lord Xyfl hits YOU for 6268 points of slashing damage
Your roll up El'khazi's carpet (at least I clean up when I die)
The poison fades from your weapons
Lord Xyfl has killed you

Well I look around and notice a rather large dragon behind me, level 70. Was wondering when they put this guy in and with him there is there anyway through the temple?

He's an addition that came with KoS.   spoiler (highlight to read):  It's a kill required for one of the new heritage quests, called A Thorn of Old, starts in the Barren Sky.

By the sounds of the NPC who gives you the quest, I have a feeling we're looking at the Wurmslayer.

Well I hope he goes away. He single-handedly stopped a Maiden's Gulch/To Speak as a Dragon raid because most of the people didn't have Terraporter access. I wandered around the temple for a while but I can't see anyway to get around him.-Will

this is absolutly ridiculous - how the hell are level appropriate peopel meant to do the efreeti boot quest, explore thought to sol sye to activate the the teraporter, actvate the key portals etc etcthis is incredibly thoughtless of whomever designed this quest.

hmm.. this is very curious.. I ran down to temple earlier today as I heard rumour one of the named for the new HQ was there...

He sure was there, white con and hailable tho, no where near agro (I actually mentored down and killed a named NPC in same room with Xyfkl standing watching.

I never hailed him, this might be what ye ran into, someone with quest activating him, wipes and heads off, leaveing a very moody dragon behind to take his anger out on anyone else.

When he killed me and the poor hapless folks I was taking to the terraporter he was level 70^^^ heroic red con, and quite aggressive.

He can however be avoided, if you very carefully hug the wall.

I'm assuming he spawns when someone on the quest walks through the Temple (I'm on the quest right now, so I'll not be walking through the temple alone anytime soon...). Perhaps he should spawn as a non-aggro mob and immediately attack the person who spawned him? I think that would be a better option than having a level 70 aggro mob spawning in the middle of a chokepoint in a level 50 zone.

That's how it works already. He pops white non-aggro, only if you have the quest will he turn aggro on you.

That is incorrect Magus. I was just in there and he was aggro like no other. I have no quest for that place yet and I was the 1st one into the room and he one shotted me then walked into the hallway and one shotted the rest of my group for over 4000 points a pop. While we waited for our healer to come back we watched him do it to several other groups. He is aggro in blazine red glowing letters. SMILEY

Magus is correct. He spawns non-aggro. Only if you try and take something from him does he get steamed. SMILEY

I have to agree Victcus7 on this one, not sure if this was intended but that seems to be what happened to our party as well - and we didn't go near anything that might cause him to agro us. A lot of us are just trying to get AA - would be nice if you could go back and at least give us the AA xp we would have gotten from leveling alone.

This happened to us last night as well walking through minding our own business. I am level 60 and he hit me for 10K. Was a total shock getting one shotted in a zone where everything is grey. Rrawl is right, though, if you hug the wall you can get past him. That is what we had to do.

Ilucide, that may be how he was designed, but that is not how it worked last night. No one in my group has ever seen the good Lord before in our lives. We don't know anything about a quest involving him and we didn't try and "take" anything from him. There must be a bug in his aggro becuase like someone said above, once someone aggro's him he stays aggroed. I just walked into the room and he one shotted me. I didn't even know what happened it happened so fast. I just happened to see him in my death throws one shotting the rest of the group and then him running back to watch the stairs and he stayed aggro. We ended up hugging the wall like another poster suggested and everything was fine.

So maybe Magus is correct about the design, but that is not how he is working :smileymad:

Either hes a ranger and is just naturally annoyed with everyone right now, or you need to have a word with him then. He killed my wife as we were trying to get me to the teleporter, and we most certainly did not interact with him in any way.Well apart from her being hit by him.Happily I was a bit behind her and I didnt die. I didnt get to the teleporter either cos he was aggro.

At least I got the pleasure of a short flight across the length of the room, and as long as it took him to chase me down, before my summary execution SMILEY

Just thought I'd quote this from further up the thread since people seem to have missed it. Yes, Magus is correct in describing how he's supposed to work, no he's not working correctly (despawning), yes it's a bug, yes Illucide will "take care of it," no it hasn't happened yet.Patience, Grasshopper! :smileywink:-Will

Was working on GEB last night with my 49 bruiser. This Lord Xyfl guy was up and one-shot me for 29K damage, and flew me across the room.  Yes, there were some other higher-level people in the area, but they were having a tough time with this guy, and it actually looked like they were attempting to train him on us - I couldnt tell since this room is so laggy to begin with. Can you please make sure he ONLY aggro's the people who pop him, and then de-pops instantly (like the Big Squiggly from GEB - he de-pops if you die, and will re-pop if you click the nest on the ground again).  If you cant, please move him to another zone or to a room in Sol Ro less frequently visited (ie not along the main path to the teleporter near Sol Eye). Was really annoying, we wiped several times since he one-shot everyone in the group and every time we would get rezzed he would just kill us again.agressivUnrest Server

this really needs fixing. Sol Ro temple  is needed for 40+ to get to Soll Eye pad to activate it, 2 heritages and other quests basically ruined due to this. Lower levels do exist and lavastorm is a really unpopular zone anyway due to to many agro/see invis and no end of wandering heroics. The only reason folks go there is to do writs, heritage quests and to do maidens to start speak like a dragon. This totally kills the zone dead for approriate levelled people.lavastorm needs a redesign not a )**&%&* level 70 dragon blocking passage through/quest. I read about how the designers want to make fun content - well take a look at lavastorm as to what is not fun. The zone is empty for a reason and that reason is that its overpopulated with over agro heroics and designed to give any level appropriate party a non-stop battle against adds. there is no decent rewards or incentive to do anythign there unless you really need to and the risk is non-stop - no afk's, no safe areas, no redeeming features at all.and ya I know you can get a mage to teleport you to sol eye but thats not really the intended way to activate the pad & skip the entire zone - indeed they put in a ton of see invis mobs to stop people sneaking/invising to it and making it trivial.
