Just wondering, am I the only one who thinks it would be really awsome to have a katana. I mean I have never seen an asassin back in the day with out one. Why not just have them put in i think it would make being an assassin more fun and possibly for the ranger too.

There's no need for Katana's maybe a smaller size of Katana's for dual wield, I also have something to contribute it be pretty cool if Assassin's can use face Bandana's.

The "smaller " katana is called a Wagasashi, the smaller of the baldes when you typicaly see a sword set. Or even the Tato knife for the off hand. Never seen an assassin back in the day without a Katana? What assassins are you talking about? Most traditional assassins weapon would likly be the stiletto, small, concealable, triangular blade for deep pennitration and difficult to heal, really effective for piercing the lung.

I do agree that masks would be a fun addition.. but mostly I would like them to impliment the /showhood command for all body parts.. I have tattoos I want to show off!

I believe you mean wakizashi (short sword) and tanto (dagger).

yes, first was misspelled, second was a typo. I suck at spelling and am not the best at typing... makes for some interestign conversations in game..

NO. I am so sick of prepubescent American kids shouting OMGOMGOMGOMGKAJPAAENSES AMINE IS TEH COOLETS MOGSZDXOR I A M TEH SYAYIN JIN AND I HAVE TEH KETAANA AND I HAVE TEH SUPER SAYING MPOWERS!!!!!1111111 ekekekeke my cahracter naem wis will be GOOOOku12112 n i wilbe unique kekekekekeThere isn't an "eastern" element in EQ2 right now. Freeport represents Roman culture, and Qeynos represents European middle age culture. Enough. I don't want to see blue hair and katanas. I think it's bad enough that monks have been turned into anime jokes instead of staff-swinging robe-wearing European versions. Throwing stars.... ugh. I hate it!

LOL, somebody had sour miso soup today.  I don't think they were looking for an eastern element to be put into the game to be honest with you.  I also fail to see how you find the monks in the game similar to the monks of anime.  I don't see them chanting warding spells nor do I see them carrying ringed staffs of the holy men.  Are you implying that because they do martial arts that they anime jokes and not like the priests of Canterbury? Hmmm...  I think it would be funnier to actually see that.  Monks walking around carrying ale in one hand a quarterstaff in the other.  I can just see the Friar Tuck names popping up...

As for the throwing stars they are part of the weapons of the middle ages.  I mean we could technically remove all non-Eurocentric weapons but items such as the scimitars, ykesha, some of the long bows, recurved bows, and a few of the dagger models would have to be removed.  Most of these people are looking for a new weapons model not an uber sword just to get into the feel or the role playing of the game.  For some thats where its at, for others its status.

The only samurai to regularly dual weild a 2 hand weapon (katana) and one hand (wakizashi) was Miyamoto Musashi...on another note, yes it would be a cool look, but unfortunatley, katana's are 2h weapons for the most part and would not be historiclly accurate if we could dual weild them SMILEY

I can open a whole can of worms or (cough)  whoop [FaarNerfed!] ....with this thread and just go into Asian history. But I would not make Soe look really bad, for not doing their homework...  I am not paid for their lack of knowledge; if interested pick up a textbook on Asian history or take a class.

What I really want is to be able to wear hoods in the helmet slot and have them look like the hoods on the robes.

assassins should be able to equipt katanas, wakazashis and tontos because thats what most assassins would equpit in those times anyways.  I really hope they add a samurai or ninja subclass though in some expansions :smileyhappy:

replace katanas with ninjatos and your set, they're a bit smaller than katanas and straight, no curve. they were the theoretical ninja weapon, but they were supposedly perfectly balanced as well

To be honest you're all dumb, assassin's would be associated with the easiest concealable weapon in the pool. Not a knife, not a sword, not a throwing star. A .22 walther.
