For those rangers who want Ancestral Sarnakk Warbow?

Save your rolls and get the Dragonhorn Recurve off Ghazi. Hopefully that bow isn't bugged too =.

There is a really good thread on the problem in the Spell and Combat Arts forums.

Simply put the bow is using either your Pierce or Slash skill to check for hits and not your Ranged skill. It's a little funny that I found that thread the day before I got this bow. We raided DT the next day when I got the bow and it was very easy to see it was bugged. Especially after reading that thread and knowing what to look for.

The reason the bow doesn't work with Focus is because Focus lowers your Pierce and Slash skill by 192. And it's very easy to see the bow is using one of those skills for it's to hit check. Just hit Focus and fire off a bunch of CA's and watch them miss one after the other. I used it before Rain of arrows on a group of the four heroic worms and only landed it on one worm and followed up missing all other attacks including auto attack. As soon as Focus us down I start hitting mobs again.

I can't think of another explanation other then it's using Pierce or Slash and not Ranged like it should. If you use Focus with this bow equiped you loose a ton of DPS because 90% or more of the attacks done during it will miss.

I have this bow and I still hit a lot, but you're right with Focus Aim it misses a ton. It's not a useless bow, it's a great bow actually, but if you're going to use Focus Aim with it you need to wait till the mob is fully debuffed and then launch into it otherwise you'll have 10 seconds of just blowing power and not having anything hit. It's very frustrating to see happen. =(

Actually it's not that hard to get around the Focus Aim bug on the Sarnac bow. What I did was setup three hotkeys in a row. The first one equips my old Recurved bow and then right next to it I put Focus Aim. In combat I'll click to switch my bows then hit Focus and blast away for 10 sec. When the buff runs out I have a third hotkey to re-equip the Sarnac bow.

It does suck alot that I have to gimpick my bows to use Focus Aim but it does work. Especially if you want to get off Selection and / or Rain of Arrows with Focus to max the potential to crit. I agree 100% with Demlar this bow is still great and in my opinion the best piece of equipment a ranger can have. I've had it for less then a week and there is no way in hell I'd ever give it up lol.

Any lucky ranger have both Sarnak and Bazkul and able to test both? The 6.5sec delay to Bazkul, and 8sec delay to Sarnak would be interesting to compare against zone wide merge parses and contested/zone bosses. Even with Sarnak having the higher damage rating, its just hard for me to imagine Bazkul not being better suited for rangers.

Ideal situation to test this, would be to have 2 rangers in the same group and the same raid, 1 equiped with Bazkul, 1 with Sarnuk.

I have both bows, Sarnak blows Bazkul out of the water.. they key is to use Sarnak with the Bazkul T8 ammo. Only exception would be during Focus Aim, but.. when I am Focus Aiming im simply switching to Bazkul for the 10 seconds it last, land everything, and then switch back to Sarnak. I've seen critical autoattack's with Sarnak + T8 ammo for as high as 9k. 4-8k autoattack is common on debuffed raidmobs.

Love it. (SOE just needs to fix the Focus Aim + Sarnak bug)
