Was there any reason why this is getting nerfed?I was using this in Halls Of Fate last night, group camped in a corridor and I was darting in and pulling mobs from distance and running back to the group.I was thinking as I was doing this that this is a really nice ranger type skill, nice to scout ahead and pick a mob and pull him back to the group. It made me feel like a ranger and broke up the gameplay from spamming CA's.So whats the reason this was changed?

![]() lol just another skill 'adjusted' to make everyone the same, very sad indeed.Pretty soon rangers will be wearing pointy hats and carrying wands. |

![]() Not too sure about this but I think it may be due to the fact that you can use it as a pulling mechanism on named mobs without getting social aggro. i.e. Named mob standing in the middle of several other mobs, tank moves up ranger gets next to him surveils from a distance, mob comes down without the adds tank taunts off and voila easy pull. Of course thats just an idea. I could wrong tho.

It doesn't always avoid social aggro - I've seen it aggravate the mobs around the target just like a ranged attack would.

![]() It is unnecessary and jus another step in the merging of the classes. Not a class breaker in itself, but another chip off the ranger identity - which is clearly how SOE want it. It's their game. /shrug :smileysad:

![]() SoE never said why they nerfed the range. But I think that it's just their normal reaction to a class using an ability to "trivialize" an encounter. SoE designs encounters to be fought in certain ways. One of their ways to make encounters more difficult is density of mobs and social aggro. Using surveil allowed us to pull mobs out of such situations and to fight them on more even terms. From an SoE perspective, that's not desirable. It's especially not desirable in SoE's view that a predator could do such a thing. You might also consider SoE's stated desire to make coercers and enchanters more relevant and how that might have played into the decision to nerf Surveil. Of course, after the Surveil nerf everyone simply continued to use certain pets to pull mobs in ways even more reliable than using Surveil. I predict that if SoE can figure out a way to do it that pet pulling will soon be nerfed as well. |

![]() It's because we actually brought something to a raid (along with assassins) and SOE had to fix that. Now we are totally useless instead of nearly totally useless. |

![]() Yup, this change doesn't make much sense. It was one thing I enjoyed doing. For example i made a lot of surveil/sprint pulls Some prime examples of this was Gnillaw and the trios in labs. But also not limited to group mobs and other such things. Sadly i'm getting use to everything being taken away that made my class fun
