While i was in my high teen levels (18-19) I was hitting with shadow blade for 200 - 250 damage per attempt using Willow wood hunting blades.  I've since leveled up to 23 and upgraded my weapons, but my shadow blade is still at apprentice 2.  I've now noticed that my shadow blade is hitting more often than not in the mid 100's (130 -150).

Has anyone else noticed something similar to this happening or any suggestions as to why this would be happening?

Just thought i'd add in that my weapon upgrades are, Mystical crescent axe and a blood etched tallon.  Don't know if that has something to do with it.

I would guess since you're probably fighting higher level mobs and only have app2, that you would do less damage. upgrade the spell and you'll see an increase.

It gets weaker. Just hang out till 24, you'll get the Ranger replacement to Shadow Blade, Shadow Lunge.

Its not that its getting lower, its that mobs have better damage mittigation and AC. You will still get some of those nice high hits but if your like me and you consistently find yourself fighting mobs 4-6 levels higher than you, a 300pt shadow lunge is going to be rare sight.

Ive noticed the same with my BackShot
With gregor's bow at lvl 14-18 i was hitting for 100+

I upgraded to another bow with clearly better damage and same delay and now i cant hit for more then 100+ (from lvls 18-20)

THe skill is Adept1 so i dont think this should be a issue at lvl 20 no?

I thought I posted this but I guess I didn't, so I'll post it again.

The damage that a combat art deals has NOTHING To do with the damage rating of a weapon.

A 2-9 dmg dagger will shadowblade for around 150 - 200.
A 7-24 dmg spear will shadowblade for around 150 - 200.
Mordoths Knife of Incalculable Suffering rated at 200 - 500 damage, will Shadowblade for 150 - 200.

In the exact same way that combat art's timers aren't related to the weapon delay, CA's damage aren't related to the weapons damage.

LOL chill out blitz .. were not arguing that fact about the weapons ... jeez .. point that needs to be made here is that the higher the mob the higher the ac and less dmg u will do if yer still useing the same skill at the same lvl

Shadowblade is noob skill, by your level it will be grey and WILL NOT get better, however at 24/25 you get Shadow LUNGE a much better skill that replaces Shadow blade..

You should really be doing 200-350 with Shadowblade at your level 2 ..

At 29 i am hitting for 400 + with shadow lunge

Heh... at level 26 I hit for a high of 411 with Shadow *Blade*.  Of course, it is Adept3.  SMILEY

Need to upgrade my Shadow Lunge, but haven't gotten the money together to do so yet... Nor have I had much luck mining rares lately... SMILEY

If you look at your skills on your hotkey bar their names are colour coded to reflect their relative efffectiveness compared to your current level. When you see a drop off in damage Im guessing that skill is grey (new skills start as orange then slowly go down to yellow, possibly white, blue etc as you level up)

What level is your Shadow Lunge?

Mines adept1 and still manages to hit between 150-300 pretty much the same as my shadow blade, so I don't know if i'm bugged or what since the damage I do with it isn't consistant, granted I am in groups going after clay golems at the moment until i'm around lv 30 or so and I start grouping in either EL or Zek, whatever has the most mobs for my level range.

If I hit a really low level mob, say lv 8 rat in Forest Ruins or something with shadow blade, it will do anything between 150-300 dmg, rarely more dmg even though its adept1 the most i've had out of it has been 328, once I got shadow lunge I was using that instead and immediately upgraded to adept1 with it, yet I've noticed that there isn't much extra dmg output from it, if anything theres less for me, if I shadow lunge the same lv 8 rat the dmg again, is anything from 150-300 with the averages being in the mid 250s, i've never had more than 350+ from either SB or SL so the adept3 must really be adding a lot extra.

My shadow lunge is only app2.  It's been tough to find an upgrade--even to app3...

I don't know how much better the adept 3 is than adept 1--I upgraded directly from app1 (which was hitting for 160-ish max) to adept3 (which immediately started hitting for 320-ish max, and it's kept going up in later levels).

I seriously want to know what you got your Shadow Lunge adept off of... mine at ap3, on a mob thats 4-5 levels higher than me, my highest hit thus far is 415, and that was on a Nightfall Giant, when I was at 25, he was umm 28, I belive at the time. I think your noticing the shadow blade damage drop because its getting to lower levels, and your mobs are getting higher, just switch to lunge, take ap3, and you will instantly be doing more than you were with Shadow Blade.

My question, is this, is it really worth upgrading from ShadowBlade appIII to adept 1 SB? I would think not really? As we get shadow lunge at lvl 24.6 what is the point? It is still going to be a grey skill really.Anyone?

i would say yes because that way you can cycle through more highdmg attacks in fight with the help of our "put into stealth in midfight" arts like stalk/shrouded strike

Shadow Lunge and Shadow strike overwrite each other, so you cant switch up on them, unless you wait the 60s for each

I was wondering this myself, as I have also seen a serious decrease in the damage done by Shadowblade.  I will have to wait a few more levels until I can get my upgrade.
