I obtained level 50 last week, but not until last night did I get to experiment with Lullaby, the level 50 mesmerize spell that I and many other Troubadors are playing the class for (it was big in my decision over Dirge). I was beginning to wonder if the spell would be any good, especially after seeing how crappy our Charm is.

I should mention that I do have the Adept I version of this spell, and have not experimented with anything lower than that.

I handled crowd control for 2 mobs simultaneously last night deep in Lavastorm, with no problem at all. Deep as in two level 51 Group ^^ mobs. It lasts 40 seconds, and takes 1 concentration. It's a little hard to keep two going at once, especially when you have to worry about buffs as well, but I played an Enchanter in EQ1, so it was no big deal. It would be tons better if it didn't take Concentration, but I guess the line has to be drawn somewhere. It didn't consume a ton of my mana, and I didn't get many resists.

Anyway, I hope this is good news to a lot of Troubadors out there who are wondering how good this spell is. Good luck!

i personally find the charm skill we get at lvl 21? very useful. it's a trade off though. you have to set a macro to something like "charming a %T, DO NOT ATTACK" and than cast it. than pull back and let the mob follow you until the group finishes the first mob. than let them come to you and break the charm. just my 2c

The recast is 10 seconds....I did not know that you could mezz multiple mobs as long as you have the concentration free, i'll have to try it out when i go home.
One thing you should know as you reach level 50 is that you have to train your subjugation alot. Generally before you get the spell you'll have it at around 110. It'll be useless until you get it to around 220. This takes not too much time if aggro a grey and run around casting it. The reason for this is that if you spell suceeds it'll cancel because you're running and not use mana/slap you with recast time and most of the time i'll fizzle anyway giving you a chance to raise the skill. I believe you'll get a close to 90% spell success rate if your skill divided by 5 is in the neighborhood of the level of the  mob you're trying to mez. Mine is @ 240 and it pretty much always sticks on mobs ranging from 49 to 52. Another method of raising it is using that spell you get some time after 45 that acts as an interrupt and does dmg. Not sure how useful that one is either as when i got it my sub was still around 110 therefore very useless.

I think you were referring to Breathtaking Bellow. You get it at level 40. It doesn't seem to work on any mobs in CT so far, but does raise Subjagation fairly often. I think I went from 110 - 120 in 1 group. Even though the spell seems pretty useless, if you use if from lvl 40 - 50 you should have no trouble having Subjagation high enough when you reach 50 and get Mez.

Beyond being a backup mezzer, the spell isn't very useful to a Troubador.  We make much better buffers, power drainers, and debuffers than mezzers.  Unfortunately, they made the recast time on the Mez about 25% longer than it should be, making 2 difficult to keep mezzed (resists) and 3 impossible without a few seconds of break time.

Stick to what you're great at:  resists, stat buffing, power draining, agi/str debuffing specifically, and good old fashioned DPS.  Mez only when you have to.

That's my 2cp, and I've had the spell for a month of so now.  Only time I used it as a crucial ability was in Heart of Fear and only because we just happen to not bring a chanter that run.

I dunno, i think its pretty horrible...even if 3 mobs home at you in say Sols eye, your group should be able to tank it, and if your smart you'll have an enchanter anyway.  Also, you can have to cancel your spells then target then cast mez, wasting a lot of time.  Also then your buffs or haste or mana regen is off...

Remember where you got the adept 1 version to drop?  Hit 50 recently and only have the app 2 version and would like to upgrade.  It seems like a pretty usefull spell to me especially if you don't run with a chanter alot.  Just gotta work on getting the fizzle rate below 98% lol.  It is way better then our charm though.

heh, its a super rare drop from giants in Sol's Eye.  I've been in there for nearly 2 months now and have only ever seen 2 drop.  And btw, all level 50 adepts are being moved to boss encounters after the upcoming patch.

Well, eventually it'll be nice to run around at high levels and have your choice of Enchanters to pick from. When I started this thread, and still today, high level Enchanters aren't easy to come across.

-Compare the Troubador mez to the Wizard mez (and I think the ones Rogues get as well?), and it's pretty awesome. Of course Enchanters will be the best mezzers, but less than half of the groups I'm in have an Enchanter.

-A good group can take more than one encounter at once, but it's safest and most efficient to mez a ^^ mob or two while you take the rest. A Troubador can serve this purpose easily while still having conc room for its most important buffs.

I think it's a balanced spell that doesn't make Enchanter mez useless, but can still hold its own ground.

Aye...I saw all the level 50 drops are being moved to raid loot.  Well, atleast I got the common one out of RV before the moved them to raid mobs.  SMILEY
