Looking for some opinions here guys & gals. In the mid to late 40's is keeping the manastone more benificial or more of a hinderance to your group. True getting that extra power in a LONG fight is nice but is it worth having the healers having to keep more of an eye on you instead of focusing on the main tank?.....Discuss amounst yourselves =) Shannk Silvermane 47 Brigand

Ehh its not that much damage, it shouldnt take you down dramastically to where you need healing. Yes its totaly worth using in certian situations. Not a raid goes by that i dont use it. Jerm Hasyourback 50 Brigand/50 alchemist Crushbone

![]() I've used my manastone quite a bit. It's not that big of a deal. If you are worried about taking that much damage every 60 seconds (if you don't have an enchanter in the group, and not popping of power HO's) then use a PGT, that'll help regen power pretty quickly as well.

Not sure what I'm going to do... I have a PGT, and will have a Manastone soon. I'm level 40, so the PGT is starting to wear out.Cons against the manastone:- lowers health- makes me more likely to die if I screw up and get aggro (due to lower health)- eats up healer mana- makes me more likely to die if I get caught in an AoE attackCons against the PGT:- probably becomes underperforming around level 42...I suspect that I'll keep the PGT and use that in my off-hand for a while longer. The 500pt ward + power boost is likely still worth the reduced damage by still using the PGT up until the mid-40s.The manastone may be something that I use to regen faster between fights when soloing. But usually, I have plenty of power left with the PGT proc'ing like crazy, and I can't use more power out of fear that I'll pull the mob off of the main tank.

The manastone seems like a great option for those coercerless groups. You can only use it every minute, so I don't think that the hp loss will be a problem. It's only like 20% of your hp if you have good gear, and relatively insignificant in terms of mana if the clerics decide to heal you. If you're drawing a lot of aggro, then you may want to refrain, but most tanks 40+ know what they're doing so it shouldnt' be a problem. It really depends on the group whether or not it's worth it, but more often than not it's beneficial.

I personally don't care for the manastone. If I'm in a group with no power regen going on I just use the PGT. I have no problems with that. I'm sure it's plenty useful to some, I just don't like it and the moving activation slots around all the time. To each their own.

I finally got my manastone... it was very useful on the J-boot run, but so far, that's about the only use I've had for it.Part of the problem is that it's tough to use. I keep a pair of +9 AGI totems in my activation slots, so I generally don't have a spot to keep the manastone equipped when we're out doing XP.Still experimenting. Not ready to give up on it, but haven't woven it into my tactics. (The clerics in my group swear by it...)

![]() The more I think about using it, I guess it is useful. In my previous post above I really was in the mindset that I didn't like the hassle of equipping it over my other activates but the more I think the more useful I find it. It's not bad to have I guess. Fro example, when using your PGT and it procs Might of the Land for you, you can eat that 500 point ward and 100 health instead of all health. Turn your ward in to 200 additional power, making your proc more like 400 power. I'm finding it useful in raid mob fights when I have the PGT equipped and I guess that is worth passing along. Anyway, like I sad earlier, to each their own. :smileywink:

Something to note about the hlr mana (idk this for other hlr types) but for a warden or fury, they can use a drd lvl spell, bloom (like lvl 13 I think) to heal manastone dmg pretty well. I have bloom at ad3 and I'm always tossin' it on casters who're eating themselves cuz it's not tied to any other heal I have and it's only like 59 power to cast

After a few more weeks...I used mine maybe once a week. I much prefer to simply pull out the PGT and swing with that for a while on long fights. Lower melee DPS, but it gives me more power for pulling off HOs and doing CA damage. If I go reaching for the manastone in a group encounter, it's probably because we need a last ditch effort to put the mob down, or I need to get power for evac.

![]() Brigand + Lurk + Manastone = ? Best. Use. Ever.
As an aside, Brigand + Lurk + Manastone + Safefall + jumping off a really tall object = a pretty [expletive ninja'd by Faarbot] good faceplant! Message Edited by Figgs on 05-17-2005 03:42 PM |

As pointed out already, PGT and Manastone are a dream team.
