![]() I am currently a level 8 Scout. Tried the rogue quest, got my butt handed to me. Is there a better level to try this at? I'm having trouble finding XP that actually moves my bar. I'm a Half Elf evil, Freeport citizen. Should I be grouping for XP? Soloing? Questing? Also my wife plays a Priest which will eventually be a Defiler. Think we should duo, or would solo xp/ questing be better? Sorry for so many questions, been 4+ years since I have been an EQ nooby. Thanks in advance, and hope to become a resident board troll soon =). Going to be contributing any new info I find pertinent to our class, cuz quite frankly, the rest are useless. Well maybe not entirely true, I do require someone to steal from /evil grin

![]() It is great that your wife is a priest because she can heal. I duoed with a priest and me on the IoR and I could solo the whole tree and almost the pirate. What you should be doing now is questing, with your wife priest. Explore places because that gives a good amount of xp for discovering "new" places. Go out and hunt with your wife, but hunt whatever the quest wants. Try going to Stone Stair ByWay and taking the Poma quest. She is a female kerra by the gates that go into the graveyard. With you and your wife, you can easily do the quest. Get some nice loot which you can sale or use. Also get some good xp for a level 8 player. Try doing some quests from your home town also. Most of all, have fun and good luck.

![]() I duoed most of my career up to 20 (then you really do need to start grouping in full groups). A Scout / Rogue / Brigand is perfectly capable of tanking initially for most mobs of the White+ to Green++ variety. What will happen is the priest will pull agro off of you sometime during the fight. It is best to find mobs that come in groups fewer than 3 (even greens) because of the priest interrupts. Don't worry about the priest being beat upon like in EQ. Priests are fairly tough up to level 20 and can easily heal. The battle will generally go: You wade into the mobs and get beaten almost to death but whack one mob down to 50% or less health. The priest heals. All the mobs save the one you're beating on go after the priest. The priest heals self and you beat one mob to death, concentrating on the others as you finish. The mobs will pretty much refuse to come off the priest no matter how much you backstab or what damage you do. (Even gouge later on won't bring the mobs off the priest) Your eyes will pop right out when you see how much damage you can do. Special --> cloak --> sword... WHACK! Backstab! I found the beginning heroic opportunity to be the most power-efficient (Cloak then Sword). Done right, we could cycle endless green++ and/or blue+ without any downtime for at least 4 groups. Do those quests! They're the best way to gear up and grab experience. Hope that helps and good luck! Mynladaru 20th Brigand, Lavastorm, EQ2

![]() I did mostly soloing and questing up in to my teens. The rogue way can be tough early on but you'll start getting the hang of it. There are spots to pick your fights and sometimes it's slow going in the sewers. I died there quite a few times doing quests and taking wrong turns. Now I like to occaisionally walk down there and just kick the crap out of some of the things that cost me XP early on. The darkblades and Marius are my favorites.

![]() Quest Quest Quest. I did only quests until about level 13. You can get there pretty quick if you check out all the quests in a particular area. Even when the quest is green to you.. it still gives a pretty good amount of xp depending on the quest of course. Both you and your wife can do the same quests at the same time and level up fast that way.
