It's been a year or so since I've played EQ2...usually any MMO game I fizzle out after a month or so.  Think I'll give it another month SMILEY.  Anyway I've been browsing/searching forums, checking to see the updates.  It seems Swaushbucklers are pretty useful still and are a class I might want to join.  My questions are more of a what happened while I was gone nature...obviously PVP is a big deal if I choose to play on those servers...most likely I will; I like the idea of Racewar and it adds an entire new element to the game.  I am pretty decent at figure out things on my own but every once in awhile it is good to get feedback/tips...with that in mind what I am looking for specifically is :

1. Really good build guide for Swashbucklers...I tried eqstratics, vault, etc but nothing really got my interest.
2. What else was a big change...what is this new pick your class at the beginning stuff I hear?  Sounds too good to be true.
3. What to expect in playing PVP...my impression of it is some areas will be more off limits than others; to always travel with a group and I suppose not as many AFK's allowed.

Thanks and I appreciate the help...

Welcome back. The usual ups and downs in MMO life, but overall EQ2 is growing and maturing well.

1. Really good build guide for Swashbucklers...I tried eqstratics, vault, etc but nothing really got my interest.

Not sure you will find anything in one spot, but try our sticky posts at the top of the forum and read through the posts here. There is a lot to sort through, but if you focus on the 'new swashy' threads, you'll get some good basics. With the new AAs you will need to decide if you are going dual wield, one handed, or one handed and shield. Hard to not build a good swashy, but how well you perform does depend on knowing your class, skill, and your Combat Art quality (plus poisions and other gear). SKill foremost, however.

2. What else was a big change...what is this new pick your class at the beginning stuff I hear?  Sounds too good to be true.

You now start off at level 1 as your true class. Thus, you can start off as a level 1 swashbuckler. No class quests, etc. It is good. Much easier to get a feel for a class at earlier levels. Other milestone changes:

 - Live Update 13 combat changes (review the update notes)
 - AA xp (with KoS)

3. What to expect in playing PVP...my impression of it is some areas will be more off limits than others; to always travel with a group and I suppose not as many AFK's allowed.

Can't comment here, don't PvP at all in EQ2, but your musings sound about right.

Thanks and I appreciate the help...

Enjoy SMILEY

Swash and any other scout can go afk all they want in pvp, just put up stealth and hide by a tree lol but yeah all the rogue and predator classes are great at pvp (brigand, swash, assassin, ranger)thanks to stealth and high dps
