Hello everyone!

I've finally registered on the boards, though have been reading them for some time!! :smileyhappy:

Could anyone tell me if wards stack? For example paladin wards or wards cast by other defilers?

Many thanks!

Someone else can answer your question about wards stacking with other classes (although that shouldnt matter since as shamans we have the most powerful wards) but in terms of OUR wards stacking.. I have post patch had severe problems. Simply - they do not stack... if you have multiple wards, they will all take damage equally. So... if I have an area ward up and a single ward up (and heck lets say shielding line goes off so I have three wards) and I am hit for 200 damage, they ALL are hit for 200 damage. So I have stopped stacking wards until I can find some sort of upgrade combination that works or I find some sort of tactic that does work on these boards SMILEY Because clearly if they all are hit for the same damage and its not spread or taken by the outer ward, there is no point in stacking...

When I cast Spectral Guard and my shaman friend cast his ward my ward disappears from the maintained spells window.

Which is as far as I am aware a bug.

Interestingly it appears that Eidolic ward stacks with Spectral guard....

TO the OP,

as of right now, specialty heals (Wards, Regns, Reactives) are not stacking.  If I group with another shaman type (either Defiler or Mystic) I propose that one of us wards and the other handles direct healing.  It works to good effect and we are not wasting our mana with both of us warding .  But since this is the current situation  I am far more likely to group with another healer class (Cleric or Druid type) as a result.

Regards.

Yes.. Ward stacking is a very major issue.. and I'm wondering why they could not code this how they have it for Ward / Reactive stacking..

When a mob hits a tank with a ward on.. you will see something like this:

Target XX Attacks for 100
Your Ward Absorbs 100 Damage
You are Struck for 0 damage

The bolded part here is what causes the reactive to proc it's heal.. so when a ward is in place the reactive will still go off eventhough they are struck for '0' damage..

What should happen (Which is not happening) is when your ward is hit and there are multiple wards on the tank (Let's say your single / group / and one other)

Target XX Attacks for 100
Your Ward Absorbs 100 Damage
Your Ward Absorbs 0 Damage
Your Ward Absorbs 0 Damage
You are Struck for 0 Damage.

Unfortunately what is happening is:

Target XX Attacks for 100
Your Ward Absorbs 100 Damage
Your Ward Absorbs 100 Damage
Your Ward Absorbs 100 Damage
You are Struck for 0 Damage..

It's a [Removed for Content], but that's how it is currently.. so really you're absorbing 300 damage from a 100 hit, but that's just because the damage is not spread evenly, or only hits the first ward.. If it has to hit every ward, then I wish there was a way to have it be:

Target XX Attacks for 100
Your Ward Absorbs 34 Damage
Your Ward Absorbs 33 Damage
Your Ward Absorbs 33 Damage
You are Struck for 0 Damage..

But I'm a dreamer =P

I find the best way to deal with another shammy in the group is for one to do nothing but ward / heal, and one do nothing but heal / debuff.. that has worked the best for me, but I agree that I find it more enjoyable to group with a different priest architype because of this, and allows me to be everything I can be :smileywink:

Been mowing down orange^^^ wiht a Mystic-Defiler combo.  She wards and I heal which worked.  Synchronized wards work great too! Tank never gets hit when we synchonize grp wards.  They dont stack but you can synchronize them so that you always have a huge ward up on the tank.  Staggered.  Create a macro that sends each other a tell or use your guild's healer channel etc.

If you throw Bane on both ^^ mobs then just heal it can work but yeah, if it doesnt stack it blows.
