Hey all... I know I keep reading here how many of us inquis don't use our soothe to our benefit. I'm sure I don't, I barely touch it. I forget it's there, with all my other crowd control stuff and the split-second decisions. I'm on a pvp server, so it will be different I'm sure, but I would love to hear more about what I should be using it for. I wasn't trying to level so fast, but imo I got to 60 so much faster than on my warden I haven't had a chance to really learn the best ways to do everything. I feel also like as an inquis I have oodles of options - stun, stifle, fear, root... wheee. But I have a hunch perhaps that soothe may help me get out of a jam or two (like maybe after I've used digression and the creeps have all targeted me back again?), and I'd love to learn. Fervent focus has literally saved me and my group a lot now btw, it's so interesting how different pvp battles are...I'm 1.5 aa points from getting steadfast, which I'm really hoping will help me get casts off in pvp. If/when that is the case, well, I can always learn better what to cast. And any links etc to places I can learn are helpful too - I've been playing eq2 since week 2 and am amazed at all that I don't know... :smileyindifferent:

I find Sooth useful for travelling and harvesting.  If there are two mobs that I can't get past without agro, and I don't want to have to run them off, a lot of times I can sooth one and squeek by.  Or if there's something nasty close to a node I want to harvest, sooth is a great way to make sure he doesn't interrupt me.

Heh , you have the same tatics I have with it...and even sometimes I use it when the tank has 2 or more mobs close together to kinda ease up on the social agro.

I've used soothe to help rez an ally when a stationary baddie respawned close to their body. I've also used it to set traps for other players in PVP. Mwa ha ha.....Mwa haaaa haaaaa

In PvE server there is a very slim "chance" where you will get aggro from a mob if you cast Soothe on him, wonder how a failure cast work in PvP SMILEY

Yes, a resisted soothe is really, really bad.  I had it happen when the group's tank was AFK and a heroic began approaching our group... and you knew he was coming with intent to add.   I managed to do a surviveable tank impersonation while the DD's killed him.  All the hate I was building from healing myself (in spite of the interrupts) kept the thing on me pretty much, and If I dispelled hate, the casters would have been going down I think.

I think when he says set traps he soothes a mob then waits for someone to get within agg range. release the mob then attack the person as well SMILEY at least thats what i would do.

That's what I meant. Sorry if it wasn't clear. I also run like a baby underwater and hide at the bottom, when the person chases me, I root them and watch them drown. We're evil ain't we? :smileymad:

LOL heck yeah. I'm going to try using soothe like this, thanks. Last night I used it on a wandering guard in Poets and my whole group just stopped a second and watched him just wander around harmless like wow cool heheheh. I haven't seen any description of what it might do if used on a qeynosian though, anyone? If it can clear target then it's worth shooting out there after digression is done... There are a few groups out there who seem to know to go right for me, so the more clearing the better :smileywink:

Soothe, is a priceless skill if you use it well. In EQ1 it was slightly more usefull as you didn't need line of sight(LoS) to cast it. So we used monks and rogues to pretarget and soothe a room before pulling. This can still be done, just a little harder if the mobs are near the doorway. my favorite trick with eq2 with this spell is standing behind an objuct, obstructing LoS and then jumping before casting. This allows me to get LoS without proximity agro in most cases.

When battling in enclosed spaces soothe can be very usefull to prevent roaming adds, if a mob wanders near you can soothe it and it will decrease it's social aggro, and if it doesn't get too close, you will avoid the adds.

Last but not least, beating other groups to spawns =D. if your leapfrogging a group just wait till they engage an encounter and start pacifying your way a few encounters ahead chanceds are the 1 min duration will run out, or the other group will just engage the encounter anyways.

This skill is certainly usefull enough to be slotted for quick use, otherwise it loses a lot of it's greatest benefits if not instantly accesable.
