Hi, the spell Devotee's Retribution says that it damages and stuns an oppenent when they use a combat art. It says it lasts for 3.5 seconds. I've never seen it go off. Is it useless, or am I using it wrong? It's casting time seems to high to be used when you see an opponent start up a combat art. I'm baffled by it. I use vengeance all the time....but Devotee's Retribution? I dunno.

I see it work all the time.  The best way to see that its working.

Cast vengeance on a mob, and watch how fast it tics off.  Then cast retribution on the mob and recast vengeance.  You will see the vengeance spell tic off much much much much slower.  This is because with all the stuns the mob is attacking less frequently, lowering the proc odds.

Another way to test spells is PvP.  Duel someone, put the spell on them, and ask them what happens.

When it fires you hear a very short "bzzt" sound, and the damage appears in your combat window.  That is the only indication you have that it's fired, sometimes it's hard to pick up.  It does fire though, very often on melee mobs (don't bother on casters, they don't use any abilities that would trigger it.)

So it goes off multiple times for one cast of it? Is it worth using, as I seem to do the same when I don't bother with it.

This spell line can make a big difference when fighting ^^^ mobs.  If the mob is stunned it isn't smacking the tank.

It's not useful for all targets because not all of them are using combat tactics.

A useful way to see if it's useful to use or not Devotee' retribution on a mob is to look for its mana. If it's always up to 100%, the spell is useless as the mob don't use combat tactics. It's also useless on casters. But it's very useful for most of DoF mobs.

Also there is bug/feature(?) that make Retribution use all his charges at once if the mob uses a AE like a Barrage or an Assault (as the mob hit several people at the same time with one CA). It is funny to see because your dps then raise a bit (something like 1200 dmg at once) SMILEY

I didn't think it was working either at first, then I watched my combat spam.  Turns out the mobs were just missing ht etank when the performed combat arts alot.  It did work at least once.

Reviving an old thread a bit, but I had a question about this:Does anyone know if a scout going into stealth will trigger this? I could have sworn I read that it did somewhere, but maybe that's just wishful thinking...

This spell started working a lot with the newer expansions. I think you are on the PvP server? For a long time this spell didn't work properly with old world mobs because they weren't using as many CA's or all of their CA's. Now, on certain mobs this thing will go off before Vengance does.

Come to think of it, I haven't seen the stun part working in pvp? Anyone else able to confirm this?

What is this about a stun? I thought it was just a counterattack.

Nah, it's a stun all right.  As far as whether or not it's working...  I haven't noticed either way.  I'm too busy trying to kill my target. :smileytongue:  But if it isn't...   Ugh, hope it's fixed soon.  When I was dueling on Nektulos before PvP came out, this was my favorite spell against melees. :smileyhappy:  Goes off a lot more then than in PvE, making a duel very enjoyable. Oh, forgot.  Remember to take into account the stun immunity in PvP.  I forget the exact rule, but once stunned, your opponent cannot be stunned again for a certain amount of time, regardless of whether they trigger it. :smileysad: -Daenath X'Deus 70 Teir'Dal Inquisitor, Nektulos 38 Teir'Dal Inquisitor, Nagafen

It still does damage though, even if the stun doesn't stick

Stun works if target doesn't have stun immunity. What i'm wondering is that does this spell create Stun immunity so 2nd time target uses CA (After stun has worn off) is a charge wasted stunwise?
