Has it been asked before? Yes. Has it been asked by me yet? No.I've been searching around the forums. As my bf has decided to start a necro. (We've been duoing a Berserker/Fury combo, and it works GREAT. It's amazing, we have enough DPS to take just about anything, and if we can't take it, we don't get wiped, I can AE taunt/yell and we can break right the hell out of there. Plus we're a great start for groups, already have the tank/healer down.) Anyway, since he's decided to start a necro, I wanted to start something that could duo with him. Now I know, since we're throwing in a mage who is basically a tank/healer/dps all in one that just about anything could duo with it. However I would like your guys opinions on what you've perhaps duo'd with and I'd like to know how it worked out for you. Specifically I'm looking for information on the following classes, but if you have any other experience with other classes I'd love to hear about it.ShadowknightDefilerCoercerBrigandThat's right, one of each major group. From what I've gathered they all have their ups and downs. While the SK might be very useful, as its two powerful soloing classes, the SK has a stigma about it when it gets to the end game. Where everyone thinks its Guardian MT's or bust. Plus the only heals will be from the Necro, and the lifetaps. The Defiler in theory is a great combo for a necro, both doing the same damage types, plus warding/healing on the pet if it's being used as a tank at the time. Plus all the slows and defilers are very welcome in the end game, for all of their little goodies.Coercer. Now this is a tricky one. Whenever someone says anything about a coercer, they say theyre great but either don't mention why exactly, or get so overly detailed with acronyms that I have no idea what theyre talking about. One, power would not be an issue with the o' so popular Breeze line. Charming pets could be very very fun, but very dangerous. Mezzing is really fun. I have a low level illusionist and I have lots of fun taking on encounters by pulling with root on a melee, then mezzing one of the extras and sending my pet on the third. I don't know if that would be viable with a coercer seeing as there's the whole charmed pet thing I would have to take into account. If I could just play an ill with the necro I would, but we kind of had a thing where we were both going to try out the betrayal quest together. All the crowd control would be nice, because the necro pet from what I hear were really not meant to take a beating. Plus coercers are also very welcome in the end game. Finally brigand. No reaaal reason. I was a rogue in EQ1 and I enjoyed it quite a bit. I think I might enjoy it here as well. Plus I get the fun utility of group stealth, evac, and that crazy mit debuff everyone's talking about. Plus I finally get to play around with poisons. And actually do some real DPS. I have a berserker, and while fun, the fury out DPS's me like crazy.Special Mention:Dirge. I love bards. Love them to death, I just don't know if duoing with a necro would be a possibility. We would most likely have to take single targets and perhaps lower levels of those single targets then any of the other combinations. I would love to be a dirge, but I just don't know if it would work out alright. I already have a troubador, that's level 26, I made her when the game first started. A lot of her spells have changed, I wouldn't mind terribly being a troubador again for the casting buffs, but all of the Dirge's spells are the same type as the necro, so I thought that might be a better fit. I just can't decide. They all have their ups and downs, if anyone else has any input, I would really love to hear it. Thanks in advance.

Best duo partner I ever had with my Necro was a Fury.  More heals for the tank pet.  Good dmg spells.    Warden would be good too.  Good heals.  Reasonable dmg and evac.

I say you go for the Shadowknight. You handle tanking/healing and the necro handles DPS.

Defiler is nice, ward the group, debuff and heal.

id go with a conjurer. 1 tanks the other dps'es and can give the necro's pet a good chunk of health every 30 seconds. With single target dmg and grp target dmg nothing lives. Ive duoed with alot of necroes and conjurers and herotics were no problem. If u want even more health just switch to the hydro pet and let that baby pump lots of health in while the conjurer solo dpses.

While not on your list,  one of the most fun duo partners I ever had was a conjurer.  We would both use tank pets on ^^^ arrow mobs and both root right before one pet died so the next pet took the aggro while the one that lost the pet would re-summon their tank pet.

Or for lower ^ arrow fights you use one tank and one scout pet to own them in seconds.

Shadowknight works very well with a Necromancer. The combined healing from them both is adequate for most named along with some excellent DPS especially on grouped mobs.

I think the necro> necro/conj duo is good as well as any other healer but I made a troubadour to go with mine.  There aren't a lot of raiding troubs so I thought it would be nice to have one at cap.  It's a really tricky combo though.  The buffs are really nice is all.  More DPS for the necro and maybe a little stronger of a pet.

Personally I have found Necro/Fury works really well!  Wifey and I duo quite well with that combo.  I can use the tank pet to get the aggro and blast away.  She keeps the pet healed + rain of fire AOE if we have a big group.  In the last 3 months we have gone from low teens to 60s.   I know that I am able to grind a level in a couple days on the Necro where it takes weeks on the Zerker.  I have also run with a Zerker to get the grinding done, but noted that I had to work to keep him up a lot more than I had with duoing with the fury on the same mobs.  It may be that this is due to the tank pet having 6K HPs versus the 5k+ of the Zerker.  Plus the pet does not seem to get hit with knock back like a normal toon.

So I made a coercer. Because adding another necro to the world is like making another Wood Elf Fury. There are enough. And so far... coercers are hard. SMILEY

I agree but seeing necros being compared to a woody druid for commonplace sightings is a bit sad.   We used to be an aloof bunch before the shattering.   I blame it on pets which look like hookers.
