So I am very new to the game (just started 3 days ago) so I'm sure someone can enlighten me..SMILEYIt seems from my limited (lvl 10 of both) expirience of illusionists and conjurers that the starting illusionist pet is MUCH more efficient than the conjurer pet..My question is, as what point does this change..? At what lvl does the Conjurers pets really start to outshine the Illusionists. Thanks SMILEY

The starting conjurer pet is a tank pet, it is meant to keep the enemies attention and take damage for you while you do the bulk of the damage.  Haven't played with illusionist much so I'm not sure how their pet fits in but I believe is the only type they get.

At level 20 conjurors get their first mage pet which is meant to deal damage (especially across multiple targets).

At level 32 conjurors get a scout pet which is also primarily a damage dealer (more single target than mage pet) but can be used to tank quite effectively as well.

Getting pet spells upgraded is key to getting the most out of your conjurer - the recommendation is to try and get the Adept III version of your pet spells, the reason for this is that all of your pet's spells will then be Adept III as well.  I'm sure upgrading the spell applies to Illusionists as well.

Illusionist pets are a 1 trick pony. They aren't meant to be a damage dealing pet, nor a tanking pet, but they have their moments for soloing.

I recently started an Illusionist alt. His Apprentice 2 pet is able to tank the Guurok better than an Adept 3 Conjuror pet. At low levels the Illusionist pet is pretty good.

Later on Conjurors get 3 types of pet plus pet stances and buffs which make them much, much better than an Illusionist pet. You really can't judge a class on the first few levels.

Another thing to keep in mind, is that the Illusionist pet cost a whopping 3 Concentration to summon, out of the box. With this in mind, when you are able to spend 3 concemntration on *your* pet, it will be much better overall, and that will occur at level 14...

the illustionist pet is rather handy over all.

I two box an illy and a conj, and a chest trap or aoe with masacre my tank pet till its sobbing on the floor and my illusionist pet will stand there unscathed.

what the other said is correct, later on the classes diversivy the illy pet is still very handy but can't take a beating in fights like a tank pet or deal damage like the scout/ fire pet

I haven't played an illusionist and I am still new to the Conjurer but at level 14 you get to choose a Master2 spell. Choose the defense stance and you will notice a big difference in your pet's ability to tank. I don't even have the Adept3 of the pet and he is still pretty strong. His argo managment is also a lot better, letting you start on the adds.

i have played my illusionist to lvl 40...while i have never played a conjuror yet, i can tell you what the illu pet can do..it got pretty good dps... untill around lvl 30, i could almost never outdamage it on single targets.. it also throws nifty stuns...it can tank alright... meaning it cannot tank heroic blues and above for long... green heroics it can tank for a while... but we have no pet heals...but we can chain cast it if we can mezz the mob...it takes 3 concentration slots, and at lvl 40 i can easily outdamage it.its not really a dps pet at higher levels.. but at lower levels its half your dps...

illy pet is more disposable as illy's can mez/ root better and their pets don't need the buffs to fight as well. so that is a plus for the illy.
