It appears as though a new big patch is on the way soon, maybe as soon as mid-Febuary. Moorgard's posted several items, including these snips as to what's coming!
Nope. Wizards and warlocks are going to see big (and I mean BIG) changes in the next major update, going out to Test next week.

A fix for Spectral Guard and Malefic Shroud will be going in as part of the next major update, going out to Test server next week.Other issues are noted and will be investigated.

not seen this posted by any one but this news is on stratics front page

http://eq2.stratics.com/

i like the sound of BIG! in the excepts.

enjoy "Iam"

Gee, I can't help but feel a little bit of hope and a little bit of dread when I see this. These could be GREAT changes that make the class alot of fun to play, but I can't help but think that the class ALREADY is alot of fun to play, so with that in mind changes may only be for the worse. I guess I'll just have to wait and see.

Our BIG change: warlocks are no longer a dps class, they are now the class responsible for changing group members into sheep.  Sheepform is actually less effective than fighting without it, however there is the ability to harvest off of your groupmates.  Hey, people loved it in hexen SMILEY

I'm very very much against this.  The reason?  Well, ports will be used as a way to balance our "group usefulness" again most likely.  That means we'll get ports rather than useful grouping spells because people will want to have a porter in the group right?  Well no, people would rather pay for a port then leave the wizard behind (Taxi service, common in EQlive).  Scouts have evac (as well as illusionists and shadow knights) and clerics have translocate so all a wizard would have to offer is group ports to lower travel time.  I really really really don't want to be stuck in the same position I was with my wizard in EQlive SMILEY

I agree, I think that if we were given ports, it would be a valid argument twards the utility side of our class.  I would gladly give that up in the name of dps.

Illusory Terrain
Spell that teleports the party to a safe area, allowing the party to instantly escape from a dangerous situation.
From an old spell teaser.  Not in the game.

Shadowy Elusion
Spells that instantly transports the party out of a dangerous situation into a safe area.
Shadowknights don't get this spell until level 44.

I get angry seeing ppl asking for ports. Petition for a new class if you really want it. I'll be happy playing the role of DPS which was the entire reason I rolled up a warlock in the first place. NO WAY!

Whoa I didn't think I would spark all this when I said I wanted ports. Sorry I made some of you guys so mad, I guess I just thought we wizzys and warlocks did ok on the dps side so why change that?

1. Because we aren't.2. Ports make the world smaller. This is the last thing the game needs. The selling point of several EQ1 expansions were convenience travel tools that made the world smaller. This was a very bad thing.

Sorry to be a big ol' sceptic (spelling?) on this one, but I just can't shake the feeling that we're going to get something new and very nice as well as one alMIGHTy nerf.
re. DoTs now stack better, along with an interupt/fizzle nerf from hell. etc etc.

Very patiently waiting on news from the test thread on this one.

Who says we aren't DPS?

Maybe after level 40 or something we are not DPS.  The game is still in development at those levels it seems.

All I would like to see changed is the damage done by Wizards/Warlocks over 40 be proportional to that in the 20's and 30's.

Other than that I think our class is pretty good.

Ports?
Cripes please, no.

Just a DPS boost and some fine tuning on resists/interrupts/fizzles and I'll be a happy camper.

We will get a 2.5% boost in our root spells.. that is, our root spells will have a 2.5% better chance of not breaking.Hows that for ya?

Ports are fine with me, nothing like a chance to earn a little extra cash-grass, gas, or [FaarNerfed!], nobody rides for free.
Also can they work a little on the resists/fizzles/interrupts.
Last how about a root that will hold when I start nuking grey mobs.
P.S. A little increase in dps would be ok too.

No PORTS!!  I want our DPS fixed.  There isn't really a long run anywhere so if we got ports instead, not to many people would use them.  All you have to do is buy a ticket at the docks to Feerott, EL, or Zek, etc  and avoid much running that away.  Evac would be fine to add but not ports.

NO PORTS....!

A personal gate spell to EL would be nice though.... SMILEY

I hope SOE really looked into the paultry dmg Sorcerers were doing... and the "cut & paste" upgrades all casters got and will be changing that... effecting us the most.
