I certainly like to group, but at other times find soloing what I want to do . Any comments would be most welcome .

I already replied in the last post in the other thread, but for sake of argumentation...

This link talk about soloing a name(usually pretty hard near impossible to solo for other classes)

Yet another thread on how to solo names, but with more details...

http://eqiiforums.station.sony.com/eq2/board/message?board.id=23&message.id=25028

and now, another on difficulties of soloing:

http://eqiiforums.station.sony.com/eq2/board/message?board.id=23&message.id=25085

another if you are lvl 30:

Have fun reading!!!

I tried a blue ^^^ not too long ago after LU 24... the blue ^^^ bite the dust without too much trouble...

I think white ^^^ can still be done with good gear/master-ad3 but I really feel we should have more difficulties soloing them.  Our supposed nerf to root was not much of a nerf actually, I can still solo ^^^ and named...

easy SMILEY... but if u try to solo a ^^^ well.. you're on your own.. a triple up is meant for a group not for a single person. Some wizards can do it because of skill, gear and AA combinations, however, if you don't have any of these qualities, I suggest you stick with SOLO level mobs.

i've always found that solo'ing is more usefull if you are either camping named for quests, or farming loot.  solo'ing as a wizi for xp sometimes is just to slow to be worth it(only sometimes though!).  If you are going to solo though, best advise i can give you is to take your time.  try to kill things to quickly, and you could find yourself either running out of power mid fight, or with groups of mobs running up and beating you.  take full advantage of your roots and your spell that stun(ie: ice comet if you have it).  Root changes in LU24 havent rly affected me to much as a lvl 61 wizi.  But i have to say, we deffinetly have the upper hand when it comes to soloing ^^^ heroics.

I recently re-activated.  I was 58 about 6 months ago.  In the past few weeks (I do not play constantly), I have soloed from 58 to 63.  One thing I have found that helps with soloing - collection quests.  They provide a decent xp and ap bump.

I have been farming the broker - and on test that is tricky.  I would imagine it would be easier to finish collection quests on live.

For mob soloing - I have no problems with yellow mobs.  Oranges resist too much.  I am currently soloing the ashengazers and spiders near dednever.  It normally does not take too much to kill them, unless I get a string of resists.  I stay away from ^^^ mobs because they are honestly not worth the time/effort.

edit:  there is one reason to practice soloing ^^^ mobs.  Last night, I was in trio taking out the named pirates in Mystic Lake.  When the Gaurdian and Assassin went down, I was able to root/nuke the mob and kill it.  Good solo strategies can help save the day when the group dies.  Of course, a healer would have been even more useful.

if you got the time and paitience, and knowledge of your class, and able to avoid more agro mobs, you can solo [expletive haxx0red by Raijinn] near any yellow or under mob, just gotta be smart about it, root / nuke, interupt or run away when the mob is casting spells, and keep your roots up
some mobs are a lot harder than others, and some you really gotta have high end gear / spells to outlast them, but as a whole, wizards are normally pretty decent at soloing, not the best but towards the top

I wouldn't try a single ^^^ heroic, but i take on blue heroic groups of 4+ all the time.  i start with chilling wind, throw on coldshield, cast conflagration then throw on lightning flash.  most are dead by the time i get to last spell.  I survive cuz my wiz is twinked :smileywink:

At lvl 70 any ^^^ mob that isn't a caster you can take.  Root, freehand sorcery ice nova, few nukes, if nuke breaks stun nuke, reroot, repeat.  Biggest problem now is the social aggro change where you have to sometimes body pull mobs, which goes down painfully when you only have 1000 mitigation.  The ^^^'s in HoF are nasty though, they like one-shotting you.

at level 70 even using frigid gift m1, glacial winds m1, ice sheild m1, electrifying flash m1, and firey inferno adp3 + forge of ro adp3, the group of 4 blues are usually at 30-40% health each mob and proceed to beat you sensless.

best strategery for grouped mobs is to aoe root then single root 3 and ice nova / stun the 4th. and reapply all 3 roots

Agreed. I used to use my DoTs for multi-mob encouters, but since soloing at 70 I can say this usually has a less than desirable outcome. AoE Root, single root, Ice Nova one dead, root next one, go back to first and nuke that one. If you DoT mobs in this situation and one breaks root from it you can deal with it, but if two mobs break and one starts smackin' you around, interrupting casts, you're done for. Fusion may save you if it's up and you can get it off without an interrupt, but I prefer to keep them rooted and pick them off one at a time.

meh i love burning down groups of mobs solo heh, frigid gift, aoe root, catalyst glacial winds, elect flash, forge of ro, inferno surge as they run to me and hit firestorm, if anything is left up after that i just throw up iceshield on myself and let them beat themselves to death heh

works pretty well on most blue - white heroic groups of 4+
