Maybe it's just me but ive noticed since the patch that my spells would do more damage if they would not be resisted
or stuck on the mob period. Last night i was fighting blues and whites and 90% of the time my root hit and never said it broke but the mob kept coming or was resisted all together maybe it is just an odd occurance I dont know anyone else having this problem?

Im not sure if its broken or changed on purpose because my duration on frozen manacles says .5 sec how can this be right unless they really want to kill the soloing wizard?

I made a post regarding the listed 0.5 second duration. It is just the description that is incorrect. They root still holds for a while, when it holds.Interestingly, the description for Frozen Manacles now shows an error message...

The root seems to be holding the same for me at 21.  My beef is that a maintained effect icon doesn't show up any more... that was useful.  Or maybe it never did for Frozen Manacles?   I know it did for the first root, which I had chosen as the level 10 training spell...  either way, the icon was very handy when you were using it to keep a mob out of action while you killed another (would have rocked while doing the rotstuffed crows for AQ1).

It's ok, my recently acquired "Tether" spell says in the description that once cast it* will be broken if it takes ANY damage whatsoever, however i've found this to be an outright LIE!

Just usem, they work. Don't believe the hype....  SMILEY

Edit: it* = Tether

Oh, tether works as intended. The root will break immediately after taking damage, but the next line says something like
"if broken will apply a movement impairment to the target" or something.

Only found it useful as a emergency spell, it's not supposed to be a real root.

Truss is kinda bugged. I have master 1, and it doesnt seem to last as long as adept 1. It also gets broken by slows, taunts, hell just about anything.

Um, you do know that roots have a chance to break everytime a mob takes damage, right? So if you root and then lay 3 dots on the mob, each tick the mob gets three chances, plus any other nukes to have the root break?

Well...hmm...
I've been using Tether exclusively now as a root, and Frozen Manacles comes out only for add or when i take on duo's. I use the same process on solos, Tether, Freezing Wind, Heat Stroke (tether might break here, usually NOT), then Icey Coil. 75% of the time i can get all three DoT's rolling without target breaking, at which point depending on how much health he has left i'll either start nuking (Westfends, BoTT, PP, BoTT is what i want to cast to finish) and if i dont think i can makem all i start process over with Blazing Intim, Tether ect.

If Tether was not supposed to take the place of Frozen Manacles, i didn't notice one single bit. I did note however that the decription doesn't hold true, why am i gett DoT's off as intended while he sits there in chains, allowing me to take an extra second to decide my next move, nuke to death or restart process? Don't all of my DoT's - FW, IC, and HS ALL do initial damage? Wouldn't FW break it right away? Or when i am casting the ever long Heat Stroke, doesn't my FW do damage to target while he's still rooted and i'm still casting HS? And then while i'm casting Icey Coil? I mean, how?!  (Admittedly, and obviously, the second "process" is never as smooth as i've already got tons of DoTs goin and they tend to slip out rather easily)
I'll have to see what's up, i don't know why/how i'd be fighting like this if it weren't true, and i've certainly no reason to lie. Weird. :/

Maybe i'm not being as effective as i thought i was...and i thought i was pretty good too, lol...hmmm..:smileyindifferent:

Edit (Again) BTW! I'm only 34 Wiz and my Tether is not up to par, i think it is still App II.  /blush

Edit again: Maybe the description means to say Melee damage? i dunno...WEIRD!@

* Or am i about to get Tether nerfed and nobody is telling me? /giggle *

There is something odd : I'm also 34. When I use Tether (PP 4) and a DOT, in EL for bears or bees, I get the mob on my back at first or 2d DOT damage.Frozen manacle (ap3) roots better !I must admit I'm not very good at solo, and I dare not try the gobs and others white con mobs.

I went ahead downloaded fraps, logged into the game, started recording and killed the first thing i saw in EL. I used Tether, Freezing Wind, Icey Coil, Initiated an HO, advanced an HO with Plasmatic Pulse and THEN the root broke. The HO called for (Flame) so i fired a BotT off while he ran at me. He hit me once, i rerooted him with Tether and ran back 15 feet (and while i'm running backward you can see him taking DoT damage over his head). I started another HO and advanced it with Plasmatic Pulse at which point he broke. The HO called for Lightning so while he ran toward me from where i had him rooted i cast Westfends, completing the HO just as he reached me. I scrambled for Blazing Intimidation as we stood toe to stump, he interrupted me once but i got it off the second time stunning him long enough to jump back once out of his reach and cast BotT, killing him. And my Tether is only Apprentice II, i have Adept III Frozen Manacles. I'm level 35.

Edit: It was a "Gnarled Creeper of Darkness", first time i'd ever seen one. Didn't con yellow but like a dark gold/bronze kinda. He wasn't an "easy" target lol. /shrug

The video is 200 megs and i couldn't get it any smaller. :smileytongue:

The thing is a root, and i wouldn't go telling other Wizards it's "only found useful as a emergency spell". :smileyindifferent:

But hey, what do i know about soloing?  :smileyvery-happy:

Try cycling your spells. I've found that Plasmatic Pulse usually breaks quickly, so i started getting my other DoT's off while he is rooted. Freezing Wind is awesome, but it's a long cast so it's the first DoT i want to get off, cuz it's safe. If the root breaks i stun with Blazing Intimidation (hafta wait for timer, or you can cast Frozen Manacles) and then reroot. If the root sticks (85% it sticks) i cast Icey Coil. If the root breaks i can cast Tether because it's ready, and if it sticks (75% it sticks) i start an HO and advance with Plasmatic Pulse. Plasmatic leaves that Dot (or has a chance to) and starts the HO while your other DoT's are already ticking. 75% of the time it breaks the root and if it doesn't i'll either try to reroot or stun before finishing the HO. That's 3 DoTs w/plasmatic pulse plus your HO damage before he even reaches you.

Hope this helps!  :smileyvery-happy:

From what I can see triggering a HO automatically breaks the root. I can reproduce this 100percent with Freezing Manacles whilst soloing.AenelornToxx
