You *don't*  have to respond to each and every post in this forum.. ya know?

It's great that you came up with some suggestions here and there in this forum, but let's not forget that BEFORE the revamp the pyjama wearing classes were moaning about not being able to tank. You got what you wanted AND then some, while it's really quite clear we got the ultra-short end of the stick.

The more I read here the more I think the "regular" guardians should've entered these forums and whined like little babies (oh you know, about lack of DPS / lack of utility) like the monks/bruisers have been doing about tanking for the past couple of months (and look where it got them..)

If you think he or we are whining, just stop coming here. If you think you can come to our aid with sensible ideas: spill it! love to hear it! SMILEY

But these kind of comments are totally pointless.

Ah well it was some fun at the original poster. It's funny to see the Guardians bemoaning their bad luck when they've done nothing to try and change their class for 10 months. Guardians were smugly superior while the class was broken and long decried any need for utility or DPS, because....

Guardian_01 "I don't care about DPS, I don't care about utility, I want to tank"

Long did the 5 other subclasses suggest that Guardians should ask for utility and Dps because their much vaunted hold on *only* tank status was going chance. Did they listen? No. Guardians wanted to be superior and therefore didn't rock the boat for change, when change finally found them, no upgrades came because they never asked for em.

As I've said all along. I'll support all changes to utility and group ability - just not tanking ability.

Which is exactly why I now wished I would've come onto these boards sooner and moaned my behind off about tanking being our only claim to fame SMILEY

Admittedly, we were and are pretty good at it now, but it was, aside from our own buffs, for a large part also the other players' buffs and the reactives that made us to be the Kings/Queens of Tanks; mitigation/defense and aggro wise - as this has all changed with the revamp it now shows that guardians were really not that overpowered to begin with and only now has it become really painfully clear that we've been lacking utility and DPS from the start. But yeah, hindsight is a b...

By the way.. I, and many with me, always thought that monks/bruisers were meant as a DPS / utility class with some tanking ability (more than scouts, but way way less than zerkers / guards / pally's) and I personally never really thought that SOE would make them tank this well. (Not saying that I mind, just never expected it..)

One of the monks I've always grouped with hates the fact she can tank quite well now, she never chose a monk to be a "tank". The other monk likes the changes, but says that she's overpowered compared to my guardian. So yeah. We all have different views on what our class should be, I suppose.

Anyway, more guards should've spoken up or we should've hired Gaige as our resident moaner. Or something. :smileytongue:

I posted about this in beta and didn't see anyone disagreeing with me. Guardians are not particularly good at anything.  Other tanks are equal to use in most respects and better in some respects.  There is absolutely nothing worthwhile that I would consider a Guardian's specialty.  We have 2 lines of protection abilities... thats the best I can come up with.  Maybe our specialty is support.  We can put on our protections, slap on auto follow and go watch TV.

The sad fact is we bring little to the table.  If I did not have a regular group of friends who play together it would be hard to get a decent exp group now.  To be honest if I were putting together a group I would not pick a Guardian, I would pick a Monk or Zerker or even a Pally for the heals.

Guardians need something to make us worth playing again...it really depresses me that I spent months building a class just for SOE to make it worthless (at least from the fun factor view).  I picked a Guardian because my play group felt we needed one not because I wanted to be uber or anything, but now I feel cheated.  I have no desire to be the best I just don't like being the worst...  It feels like I am in gym class again and am the last one picked for the dodge ball team and knowing they only picked me because they had to not because they wanted too. SMILEY

I hope SOE listens to some of the great ideas being put forward to make the Guardian a fun and useful class to play again because if not then I for one will do like others and when Vanguard or D&D online comes out jump ship and start over there (and you can bet that at least 5 of my friends will be going with me)...cause I will not waste my time leveling another character in an SOE game. (it takes way too long for a semi-casual player who has a job and somewhat of a life!)

Right on Gladesman,    I never once posted on the forums before the combat revamp either and now I kinda regret it, but that doesn't mean that now that my class is broken (yes, i feel it is broken badly) that I should not voice my opinions and hope to get it fixed. Everyone is entitled to their opinion. Even those people who strangley enough take pleasure out of other players beging nerfed, although I think nerfs hurt everyone, but they have as much right as anyone to thier opinion.

My opinion is defense.

Guardians is supposed to be the most defensive tank, have best defense skills and can defend better.

The current situation is, after combat revamp, all other fighter classes can defend better than us.

This has to be changed.

I have both level 50 berserker and level 50 guardian.

My opinion is that both subclasses have been hit hard in this patch.

My berserker lost about 50% of DPS. I lost almost all of my haste spells.

My guardian lost the defense skills. The number is still there, but it doesn't do anything now.

And both my berserker and my guardian lost about 1000 HP and lost about 20% mitigation after the patch. Both can be killed by level 39 evil eyes in runnyeye.

The conclusion is, both berserker and guardian subclasses need the attention of developers. The current situation is that both subclasses lost the fun factor which once made them fun to play.
