I've been running around looking for the best prices and AC on armor in Qeynos.  Here's what i've found... Best prices are at Armorsmith Thomas Bodley in Qeynos Harbor, his loc is +744, -21.   He has both Carbonite Platemail and Steel Vanguard.  The stats between the two sets are exactly the same except for a .5 weight reduction per piece for the vanguard.  I'm a 21 guardian, and here are the stats for me.

Helm - 59 AC (max 95 at lvl 30)
BP - 146 AC (max 236 at lvl 30)
Gaunts - 59 AC (max 95 at lvl 30)
Grieves - 88 AC (max 142 at lvl 30)
Bracer - 88 AC (max 142 at lvl 30)
Boots - 59 AC (max 95 at lvl 30)
Shoulders - 88 AC (max 142 at lvl 30)

I found the prices to be 20-30sp below the armorsmiths in the various suburbs.  Hope this helps

Same stats and the vendor in Freeport is in East Freeport Armor. Prices range from 30-40s a piece or so.

The vanguard stuff does look similar to the armor the guard is wearing on the website but its not as good, almost though, perhaps just slightly less detailed.  The plate armor is more like brass plate or something since its really plain and ugly with a gold ish tint to it same as the lvl 20 quest stuff seems to be, I made sure i bought the vanguard arms though, they look really neat with ridges on them.

Why not just do your armour quests instead of messing about with prices? The quest armour won't cost you anything apart from your time, and is way better than anything you have listed there.

Simply because for me the stuff on the vendor was so much better than what i already had, because of that and that the quest armor would take me a fair while to get I bought some of it, most in fact except the gloves, bracer and boots since thats what you get first from the quest.

If you have the money, why not? I plan to do the same thing -- I will upgrade all my armor to plate at level 20 and then work on my quests. After all, I can replace my plate stuff with my quest armor once I obtain it, and then sell my plate to other players/vendors. I think the temporary increase in AC is worth the extra silver up front, after all -- the extra AC may actually help you complete your armor quests!

where do these armor quests start, and are they doable for everyone or just guardians? Meaning, I journey with a Guardian, so can I as a Cleric, soon to be Templar get the same pieces of armor he can?Kelesia, lv 17 kerra cleric, faydarkConsort of Azaghal lv 17 dwarven warrior, faydark

Because it's much better than the medium armor that you were wearing.

The first thing I did was go to Qeynos Harbor and by a full set of Steel Vaguard. The price isn't that bad especially when you sell your old armor pieces after equipping the new stuff.

Im 5 restless corpses away from finishing armor quest 4, I have the boots (which don't show up as the brown quest armor, they look like the steel vaguard boots when you have the leggings equipped) the gloves and the bracers. The rest of my suit is all Steel Vanguard baby and I wouldnt have it any other way.... at least until i finish up the armor quest and even then i might keep the steel vanguard around for show.

The armour quest armour is ugly, all My armour is Carbonite Vanguard bought from players and it is way better than the merchane bought stuff and the quest stuff, wont even con white until level 30.  A little bit more expensive but well worth it in the long run.

(btw Im still doing the armour quests because I love questing)
