Ascension earning points in Beta

So, this is beta, almost everyone uses baubles to get directly level 15 of each ascension class and tests what he wants.

Well, OK but how will we do in live servers in now 2 weeks ? We will need guided Ascension scroll every day. So we must go (every day) to Obulus Cave or Nye'Caelona and back to Planes of Magic (aaargghhh there is no spire in Obulus ! damned ! ... no matter one of my characters is a wizard Tongue

(other one will go on feet !)

What about changing current Ascension class ? Still needing to make our way to Obulus Cave and Nye'Caelona one time again ?

Maybe it will be time to think about a solution for this problem or am I missing something ?

to get from 10->11 takes 139M ascension exp, so that might be similar from 11-12 also. Has anyone tried NOT being in their level 11 ascensions doing the quests in PoM to see how quickly exp moves? You can only keep a buffer of 7M, and each scroll grants about 2.5m if you have all 4 at level 10, so its going to take 50 scrolls, and your current banked 7M buffer to get to 10-11 in another ascension. Will this be similar to 11-12? We cannot test this.

There is a spire in Obulus. It puts you in the caves, around the corner from the solo/heroic daily/weekly quest givers. If you're in obulus looking for it, it's just a guy standing there you have to hail.

I tried of course (and I have the 4 Ascension class full to 10, one is 11).
With a buffer of 7 Millions XP, each quest you give back, not a repeatable one (or the first attempt of a repeatable) uses the full buffer !! Smile

Good news is that (it seems) there are sometimes a celestial ascension reward which gives you a new Ascension spell in the current ascension class ( I got one recently with House Vhala faction), as this is not reported by the wiki for this quest, I assume this was a lucky reward

The question was not "how to go to Obulus Cave" from Planes of Magic, I know we can go to Obulus cave withspires (we can also go near the Nye'Caelonia city with the Twark totem) ....

Questions are
* how do we come back from Nye'Caelonnia or Obulus Cave TO Planes of Magic
* and which interest do we have to travel for each character, each day of the year just for getting the daily (or weekly) ascension scroll ?
* Does it make sense to travel to Obulus Frontier only for switching from one Ascension class to another ?

There are surely a lot of other questions around the same idea ...! BigGrin

OK I can understand that (even if we can not see it now in PoP) but what about switching classes ?

There are, currently, no NPCs that will 'level' you in beta (the KA ones don't help past lvl 10).
At least some of the sig line quests reward a scroll that gives you a single ascension lvl in whatever your current ascension class is.
None of that tells us how we'll get lvls beyond whatever quest rewards the sig lines gives however. That information has not been shared with the players yet.

Is there any way now that most people have all 4 ascensions at max level that we could get an option to change on the fly? This would save us fly time or port time or broken COV time to get back to where we were. Would this be an option that we could incorporate. It is really no different than changing AA's on the fly now.

Last expac they said they have no intent to allow us to change ascension on the fly...
They may change their mind, but the intent seemed to be that the classes weren't supposed to be something you swap out every fight for.

Actually, in beta, the distance between ascensions and regular arts seems to be narrowed a bit.

My understanding was that the questing in planes of magic and other activities rewards you with ascension xp scrolls. I don't remember where I read that but I swear I heard that somewhere. maybe it doesn't yet, but perhaps it will at launch? The time-gating is supposed to be gone in PoP entirely

You actually did state in your original post that there was no spire in OF, Kattana was simply making sure you knew about your options.

no but u could swap in the overland zone. just not allowed to swap in an instance. Or even to the plane of valor if they want.

there's always wide range between go see your trainer and change every minute ^^

It has also been stated multiple times that scrolls and ways to earn ascension XP will be much much much easier than before and will not be gated.

They said for your FIRST ascension class... not for the others.
The recently added scrolls that give you a full ascension lvl to some (all?) of the signature quests.
