I'm not associated with any web-sites. I'm not well-known in the EQ2 community. I'm a casual player / questor and get most of my experience solo. I'm an officer in my guild, Arion, on Unrest and we like to think of ourselves as a bunch of friends playing the game together. Ok, a large bunch. But we're not really a driving community force like Drow, or FoH... Compared to all the blue-names on the board, and all the very-involved people on this board, I'm just the average joe. And I had a blast at Fan Faire. I didn't win any mice, keyboards, or backpacks and I wasn't even tempted at the pink t-shirt (although I did witness it). I did get an oversize Star Wars Community shirt on my table, and I've never even played it, but I'll wear it. Most of the time I was at a table near the back, and I could barely hear Brenlo (yeah, I know, hardly seems possible, but true) or what was going on up front. And I had a BLAST at Fan Faire. Meeting my guild-mates, and talking with the Sony people, even though they didn't know me from Adam's housecat, was awesome.. It was amazing how approachable everyone was, whether they were outside on a smoke-break, or lounging in the lobby. At first I was hesitant... I mean, they work all the time on this stuff and the last thing they want is some dork walking up interrupting them to talk about something trivial... but everyone was great, even when the temptation was too great and I did it anyway. Even the girls/models were great, with wonderful smiles for every picture and amazing patience. I post a little on the forums. I don't usually read them very much because too many people don't listen, have an axe to grind, and have some weird conspiracy theories about who the dev staff likes, dislikes, whatever. Too much insanity. But I do watch the dev-posts, hunting for little tidbits and hints of what's coming up and in the works. Fan-Faire was like a massive 3-day dev-post. So much information... and open information, despite the fact that they KNOW that the community at large is going to hold them accountable to every word they uttered. Anyway... it was great. Thanks for being so open, talkable, even when being busy, and putting on a good show. Zego

![]() Some of my very favorite moments at FanFaire happen when an average player comes up and starts a discussion about what they like in the game or what they'd like to see happen. It's great to get the perspective of all types of players, not just at summits and panels but at random places like the hotel lobby at 3am when we're all just hanging out or in line at the coffee shop or wherever. It sounds corny to say it, but we're there to interact with you folks. I'd encourage more of you to say hello when you see us strolling by.

![]() I was thinking about making a similar post but since you said it so well I will just add to yours. I had a great time and was amazed at how approachable the devs and other employees were. It is one thing to read their posts where they say how passionate about the game they are and how they do everything for us. When you actually talk with them or listen to them speak on a panel, you can see how true those statements really are. You can't easily fake passion and enthusiasm when you are face to face with someone. They know and understand the game the way you only can if you play it for large amounts of time. If I can afford it I will be at every Fan Faire in the future. |
