SONY ONLINE ENTERTAINMENT ANNOUNCES EVERQUEST® III-SOE Debuts Sequel to World's Most Successful Massively Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game-
SAN DIEGO, CA - April 1, 2006 - Continuing on the success of EverQuest II® and in line with its tradition of consistently providing new and exciting content, Sony Online Entertainment Inc. (SOE), a worldwide leader in massively multiplayer online gaming, today announced it is developing EverQuest® III. Scheduled to launch in Winter 2009, EverQuest III adds significant improvements over the first, widely popular, iteration. EverQuest III uses a completely new, cutting-edge 3D engine developed in-house with a host of technological features allowing the development team to generate an unparalleled visually stunning 3D world. Other features include the ability to own real estate, ride horses, command ships, and experience all-new enhanced spells, quests and events. EverQuest III returns to the culturally diverse world of Norrath in the future of EverQuest II, with the sheer size and graphical detail greater than ever seen before."It's no secret that we have seen phenomenal success with EverQuest II" said Robert Paulson, jr. vice president of Sony Online Entertainment. EverQuest III is the successful embodiment of better technology, player feedback and our desire to build an online global community." Larger in scope than its predecessor, EverQuest III will be able to host millions of simultaneous users from all over the world. And, due to increased localization features including real-time translation in English, French, German, Japanese and Korean, as well as localized servers in select countries, players from every corner of the earth will be able to explore familiar areas and new, undiscovered territories of Norrath. With innovative in-game creatures, weapons and items EverQuest III promises something new for all subscribers."EverQuest III is truly an amazing experience," said Andrew Teegle, producer, Sony Online Entertainment. "The vastness of the world, the increasingly deep storyline and the continuity of the online community make EverQuest II an unparalleled game."

Ya I do have to agree that this is kind of a poor april fools joke.   People already joking about this before april fools day was even thought of.   What would have been a great april fools prank is blackguard announced in the official news that due to XXX reason EQII would be shutting down and everyone would have to pay cover charges.  These charges would have to cover for time lost, effort lost, and just down right cover for people not knowing what in the blue blazes they want.  Have at the end saying Happy BlistBane Day the last day of EQII *Since blistbane or whatever is what the gigglegibber goblins say*.

heh, lol, i knew it is Elderscrolls III screen shots, recoginzed that first person view signatures. SOE knew and wont do that but only as optional 1st view or 3rd person view. my sister said and she cant play due to "motion sickness".

i almost bought it and decided it isnt worth that price tag and will wait for Neverwinter Nights 2 due in this early summer, 6/21/06. better playstyle and lots of fun to make game modules.

The date in the release is the give away as NO company releases news on a Saturday. The CEO is to busy playing golf.
