Just saw an interview on ESPN with Boston Redsox pitcher Curt Schilling. He was wearing the Everquest II baseball cap. He said in the interview he is going on the Disabled List for a few weeks due to an injury. I think he wants the time off just to grind his Provisioner to level 34 so he make T4 food/drinks and start making some Major League money. Who knew? Molari-Gnome,31 Provisioner,13 Bard..Toxx

He HAS to play.  When he was playing with Arizona, he wore his Everquest 1 hat in one or two interviews.  I bet if he made the hat upgrade, he made the game upgrade too.

Forget unlocking the Frogloks; mad mad mad props to the player who figures out who Curt Schilling's characters are!

Yes I realize you can't unlock the Frogloks, at least, not until LU 8.  I'm just saying this would be just as glorious a find.  To the limited few gamers who know what Curt Schilling, or baseball, is.

Should be easy enough.  Look for the toon with a slight limp, a bloody sock, and a REALLY nice ring....

Better yet, what class do you think he would play....

My guess would be Paladin.... and that has nothing to do with that being my class, just my honest opinion.

He is very religious IRL, and he dosn't seem llike the type of person that wants to shy away from a fight.

Yeah I would go with a monk as well.  I read an interview he gave back during EQ1's hayday and he said that he played a monk.

Yes, Curt is a longtime EQ player.  In fact he actually played Ultima online beforer EQ, and pencil/paper D+D before that.   When he signed with my beloved Red Sox in November of 2003 I was excited to find out he was also a EQ player.  If I wasn't so lazy I'd try to find and link the interview he did with Allakhazam a few years back, or the interview he did with G4/Tech TV at some game convention when he first tried out EQ2.

Oh, and since you are all wondering, he played a Monk as his main and a Dwarven Cleric as his alt in EQ1.  I don't think he has said what he is playing in EQ2.

Boston sports radio was just reading the interview he did with Allakazam a couple of years ago and he said he had a lvl 49 monk on the Povar server.

I'll bet if asked he would tell what / where he is playing now.

http://www.boston.com/sports/baseball/redsox/  (picture and link to video of him wearing EQ2 hat)

I knew this. Dont really care if anyone belives me hehe. But he use to play on Legends ( Stormhammer ) Server with us in EQ 1. Same with Alot of people off screen savers from G4 ( Was tech TV back then ). Alot of Celeb's play EQ. Some are very hardcore raiders, like I was in EQ 1.

Anyhow, I grouped with more then a few. Was star struck at 1st when I knew. But they are down to earth like anyone else.

If Curt is reading this forum because he does play EQ2 then I just wanna pop in a thank you for the 2004 season.  I'm not a hardcore baseball fan but I did start watching the games like I was one from game 4 of the alcs on, and I laughed, cheered and cried along with the rest of New England.  Curt if yer out there thanks to you and the team for giving Sox fans something they only dreamed about, and thank you for doing it with an injured ankle I think that touched me and probably everyone the most.  Heh happy raiding Curt, (you should get Damon playing, he could be the long-haird wild Barbarian Berzerker) Anyhoo back to waiting for the servers to be back up. PS. Best of luck to the team in the '05 season as well!

Hate to break it to you all, but baseball players are normal people too, they just play a game and get paid lots of money and are famous. otherwise whats so different? They are humans too people, come one!

The way some are talking, if a famous person plays a game its an anomoly. GUARANTEED more then 75% of famous people play video games and im betting you prolly spoke to many of them without even knowing it (its better off that way trust me)

Great interview, Tamat. It's very cool to see that he will indeed be attending this year's FanFaire! I look forward to meeting him, as well as all of our other players who will be attending. SMILEY

There is another article in the forums here that specifies what server he plays on and which guild. Its a pretty worthless post about how one guild got extra tries at unlocking the frogs cause they have a baseball player and a gm in there guild. But if you read it you will see what server, what guild, and what his toon name is. unless we got more red sox baseball players named curt Schilling? SMILEY Then its safe to say its him.

That's cold. SMILEY To be honest, it's probably harder for him to be injured than to be playing right now. I know when I was unable to play a sport due to injury it was a lot more difficult than actually being in the game (hockey and football. I didn't play baseball after elementary school). Then again, he gets to play EQII while he is injured, so that's always a plus. SMILEY

That's more than cold.  Boston Red Sox fans will never forget what Curt Schilling did and sacrificed for their team.  As a life long Red Sox fan all I can say is even if he never pitched again (perish the thought) he would be worth every penny of what the Red Sox have and will pay him.  For once in professional sports, it is not about the money.  Thank you Curt for finally bringing the World Series championship back to Boston.

Yea it was a great season and I'm sure in time he will be back on the mound. As a catcher for 7 years I know how much stress is put on a pitcher and just how much heart those guys have. Found this article awhile ago, you may find it interesting ... MSNBC Article.

Before this thread, I wouldn't have known Curt Schilling from Mavis Bluebutt from Alaska - I'm a Brit in England and we don't have Baseball here, we have a game called rounders that's played by girls! SMILEY

However, I can appreciate what this might mean to some people; it would be like me finding out that Frank Lampard played EQ2 on my server (Frank Lampard is a midfielder for my favourite football team, Chelsea FC, for those who don't know SMILEY ).

I read through the interviews that Curt agreed to do on the websites mentioned and he comes across as a really nice guy, not only passionate about his sport, but also passionate about this game that we are also all passionate about (otherwise we wouldn't play it, right?!). Knowing that he is a celebrity that shares a common interest with me, DOES make it feel good - even if I don't know him. Others get a thrill from knowing that a famous sci-fi author also plays the game (Salvatore?).

Basically, what I'm saying is that there is no need to attempt to 'Diss' people because they are excited or moved by the fact that they share a common interest with a personal hero or idol. I'm sure that if Miral or Strazz discovered that Curt SChilling was a member of their guild in EQ2, then they would be letting people know at every opportunity! SMILEY

if he does play eq2 and i think he does, honestly i dont think he would come out and say it (even though if he did it would be cool SMILEY ) can you imagine the amount of tells he would get? all the spam and crap he would get from red soxs fans and hate tells from yankees fans? it would be way to much for anyone to actually enjoy the game. i hope he does maybe come by and make a post here but im not holding my breath

That interview is a great read, Tamat. I remember reading some stuff a while ago about Schilling and Glanville joking around about their EQ characters. As a baseball fan from Boston it's especially nice to see that he's so into some of the same stuff I am. He seems to have an awesome attitude in general, though -- I remember when he first came to Boston and all the interviews were a pleasure to read as they were brimming with optimism.  I could live without the Bush campaigning, but the EQ2 balances it off. I've been to three games so far this season and looking forward to more, hoping to see Curt healthy and atop the mound as soon as possible.
