You will see the current price ($59.99 USD or foreign currency equivalent) as well as a footnote indicating the price for SOE Live attendees is set at $20.00 (USD or foreign currency equivalent).

So you know, there's not yet any footnote there.

Thanks for the note!

Yes, the footnote has not gone live yet. It's waiting for the right moment to make a grand entrance.

Even if you're not seeing the footnote, the discount will apply, so long as you're completing the purchase using the same account you signed up with for SOE Live!

On a related note...should Fan Faire SOELive attendees see the expansion flagged on their accounts by now or will that happen when the expansion has launched? I registered for SOELive  but could not attend, so I'm worried that if I order now, I might be charged the ful price because "oh sorry, the free expansion was only for people who actually showed up".

Wow, thank you! When I posted my disappointment I hadn't actually expected to be heard.  I'm a little in shock so a big thank you!  To those that are so worried about SOE somehow still charging you and saying "gee shucks" I guess I would say really?  I've been playing with these guys for almost 15 years now and they've always fixed anything that went wrong for me, even if it was sometimes my own fault.  There are so many more things to worry about in life than this and their track record of response is good enough for me.  I went back and reordered my preorder first thing this morning.

Ok, so it looks like they are adding a mount to the Collector's Edition. Still no word on if it is one per account or one per character.

So, that is three useful things vs SIXTEEN for the latest Everquest expansion. Why is a 13 year old game getting more love than EQII?

Come on, Devs, there is still time before launch to add more useful items to CoE to make the extra money worth it.

I'd like to see some transport paintings like Destiny of Velious had. Perhaps to locations like Withered Lands, Skyshrine, Obol Plains and The Eidolon Jungle. I guess the locations would depend on how they are actually setup, but at least paintings to WL and SS would be nice.

I have some answers for you!

(1) The items in the Standard and Collector's Editions will be one per character. The only exception to this is the AA Boost feature, which is limited to two per account.

(2) The mercenary design is still being worked out. The decision to make it either a healer or a Paladin was just made this weekend at SOE Live. Factors including type of healer, stats, upkeep, etc. are still being determined. We will update you once this is finalized. You will need to own Age of Discovery in order to use the mercenary.

(3) I'm working on getting screenshots of the cloak and other items. Those will be posted in another thread.

(4) The expansion will only be available in digital download from www.everquest2.com. There will not be a boxed version.

(5) The preorder ends at 11:59pm on November 12th. The expansion launches on November 13th.

Simply terrible decision making, and you had better plan on providing some refunds to those that are buying the CE version with the asusmption that they will have workable mercs without purchasing AoD.  Assanine that this would not be spelled out with a * in the CE notes.  Been working to get my brother-in-law over from WoW to join my group, and he bought in, and started playing with us a month ago.  We've got a new level 80 group that is advancing up.  He does not have AoD, and gets frustrated that he's many AA's behind our band (we switched all our XP off and mentored down to bring him up), and cannot hit some of the heroic zones solo t obuild his AA's up, and get a feel for some of the content on his own.

I was hoping he would buy into CoE, and that might get him firmly off WoW and into EQ2 with us.  When I saw CoE was coming out, I figured this would be his chance to upgrade, and get the merc access, and WORST case, if he could pony up a couple more dollars for the CE, he would have access to two mercs, and life would be good.

Instead, Sony is going to opt to run him off, as I'm not going to convince him to drop $100 to be able to add the merc content, and the new levels to keep playing with us, when he has an established WoW account and guild he can go back to, that he's got an annual membership on. . . . he had talked about really getting into the game, and was thinking about not re-upping on WoW to move over to joining us full time. .  this will probably kill it!

Just overall a terrible decision for people thinking about coming back or starting new!  How can you not see you are cutting off your nose to spite your face?  Trying to force a one time $100 purchase, that will get you $0, vs. collecting the $12 - $16 a month, you will get from this group of users.

I claimed Dashenti Lasheris, but I'm not having much luck finding him. I checked the bar in Freeport, including the basement, he is not there. Anyone know where he is suppose to be once you claim him?

edit - I figured it out, you had to click the token in your bag then he was availble in the basement of the bar.

Wow, just, wow......

If anyone wants to see how badly this expansion has been put together, go and read the beta forums. SO much is still wrong, the launch is almost guaranteed to be a complete mess.

I already switched my pre-order from the CE (SORELY LACKING) to the regular one, and am now contemplating just cancelling it period.

A few more answers...

(1) The pre-order goes through 11:59pm PST on Monday, November 12th.

(2) The mount is one per character.

(3) Dashenti Lasheris (the mercenary that SOE Live attendees received for coming to the event) is an SK only. As explained by Iadas (thank you!), you first need to "/claim" your SOE Live item, then examine the token, and then head to hire.

(4) Players who buy the Collector's Edition will have access to BOTH Lujien (werewolf) mercenaries - Krivix Honorclaw (Paladin) and Krivok Honorclaw (Templar).

WOW, thats awesome.  So, buying the CE means that a player can have two mercs up at the same time?

I'm sure it'll still be one at a time, but we will have both available instead of having to choose if we wanted the Paladin, or Templar.

Can't you just hire a Paladin or Templar in town now as it is without even buying DOV or COE, you just need AOD?  Why do I have to pay extra for a Merc I can already hire?  Just for a new skin and equal performance?

Some people are willing to pay extra or do extra effort for a different appearance. The Ancient Mercs in Skyshrine are functionally similar to the ones you can pick up in the cities yet look different, and they're quite popular.

That said, the Collector's Edition mercs have been described as:

Our CoE Collector’s Edition mercs (Templar & Paladin) are significantly “better” than the mercs in Freeport and Qeynos, but cost the same.

I can't find the quote, but Holly also indicated that the CE merc(s) won't cower quite so quickly when faced with challenging mobs. Again, it's your money and your choice. SMILEY

From earlier in this thread, Windstalker stated "The Collector's Edition mercs have significantly higher stats and confidence than the standard mercs (they can take a lot more of a challenge before they cower/debuff)."

That's funny interesting Feldon.  The SOE Live Mercs were quoted as "Being the same as Neriak Shadowknights, but with a couple of unique abilities and better AI" where ever that quote is.  But the SOE Live Mercs are showing up and proving to be of lesser quality and we all know that some people bought and paid for SOE Live event tickets (with absolutely zero intention to attend) just for the Vamp Merc and they turned out to be a bust.

So, I'll ask again; Why would I buy a Collectors Edition for the purpose of using an equal or inferior Merc with a different skin.  So it seems that SOE is selling a bill of goods (A Merc which preforms better than those freely available from previous purchases, but not as good as Elites) which have an unmeasureable metric of quality which they and they alone will determine whether they've not legally breached thier sales promotion.

Clownballs wrote:  http://forums.station.sony.com/eq2/...topic_id=522493

After testing this merc vs the basic neriak SK merc stats are similar but performance is lacking. Mainly the ability to aggro and dps. Seems as though this merc can't or will not hold aggro on a mob vs me on a defiler with medium SS gear in heal stance. Also beat it in dps by a huge amount. Is it just me or is it semi broken upon release?

At this point I certainly won't be buying the CE.  That could change so easily though if SOE could assure us that the mercs would be Elite quality (and allow us to test it in beta).  I'd guarantee at least 2 CE purchases if that were to happen, and I think many others may be swayed by this as well.  But time is running out fast on that one.

They won't be elite quality. Elite mercs are far too powerful to give to everyone with a cheque book. I'm seriously considering changing my order from regular to CE for the mount. Trouble is I'd want it on both my accounts so it goes from $80 to $120 =/

I'd pre-order it today if I could buy it with Krono. That would be for 6 accounts as well. But as it stands, I think it is too expensive so will be pausing everything until it goes down somewhat. I'll be sad to not play it on day 1, but I'm making a stand with my cash haha, maybe it's pointless, but that's that for now.

And WHY doesn't Featherfall on cloaks work from the appearance slot??  I mean, come on, the SC shop sells a large number of cloaks which (up until now) have Featherfall on them, but do not have any other stat.  so the only thing that Featherfall is good for is Zero-Zip-Nada-Nothing.  The only option would be to have a unequip / re-equip macro to take off your Stat cloak+take off your apperance cloak+put on your apperance cloak in the non-apperance slot .... all while trying not to fall to your death.

Featherfall on appearance cloaks that worked from the appearnace slot would not be "Game Breaking".

In game, I saw someone mention an AOD price change for the 12th, that it was going to drop to $5, unsure if that's just for the day or what..but can anyone confirm/deny this for me please? I rather not buy the CE of COE if I have to pay full price for AOD, when I never intended to buy AOD in the first place...If the price is going to drop to $5 for at least that day, then I would consider getting it, and the CE for COE..confirmation or denial of this would be greatly helpful in my decision of purchase.

Basically it's their billing system flagging your account so it knows to apply the CE grants to it when it goes live.

I just bought the CE...  I'm so ashamed.

I bought it for the sole reason that the mount is purple.  I'm a sucker for purple stuff in game.

There is a 30 day subscription with the preorder ?

I'm an old player (2005 to 2010). If i would like to play eq2 again i have to preorder CoE + AoD + the montly subscription ? Is about 95 dollars..

I can explain because 99% of player doesn't return to play eq2 if this is correct.
