![]() Had to look up Revernant (Not sure on the spelling) on D&D to figure out what that was. It also seems to be what Lucan is, although the information is Gleaned 2nd or 3rd hand from one of the Circle of 10 who's name slipped my mind (didn't like him much) but the ultimate source is Kyle Bayle.

![]() I got that vibe too, that Kyle Bayle and Lucan had a connection like that. Sadly, I was gated on quests after Kyle Bayle took Gavin Ironforge's body and I'm not sure if there's more to that story.. but I'm hooked on wanting to know more, and that's always a sign of good writing!

![]() what's interesting is that the process of making a wraithguard and what a Revenant is supposed be are very similar. basically the wraithguard is a 'super zombie' made by shoving someone's soul into a living body, thus making it a undeadish phylactery that is isnanely hard to kill. this process tends to wipe out memories of the person, save thier knowledge of thier own name. when it doesn't, they have to 'cleanse' the Wraithguard. a revenant is a undead super zombie, made by a soul getting itself a new body. either a mage puts it in one, or a divine force does..usually to fufill a specific task. it may, or may not, have memories of it's previous life...and is notoriously hard to kill. judging by that, and that lucan is an 'Arch-revenant' it seems my theory that Lucan is the 'original' Wraithguard is correct. he's the model that the other wraithguards are based on. and I bet the process involved the death of the Paladin he got his paladn powers stripped for. it would also explain how learning the wraithguard creation process was the last peice of the puzzle that let opal figure out what lucan was, as she claims during the Freeport line. which is even more amusing, since right now, the Temple of War has a spell that can outright destroy a wraithguard. and guess what orgainization Opal is in right now in one of her many guises. |

![]() When it comes down to Opal vs. Lucan (and you know it will, that town ain't big enough for the both of 'em) my money is definitely on Opal. |

![]() At the risk of sounding ignorant, I have to ask who Opal Darkbriar is. :X I've heard her name mentioned in another In Testing thread, for archetype quests..maybe I haven't tested anything that encounters her yet, but I have a feeling I'm missing something large here with how she fits into the new storyline.

She's a Dark Elf, in EQ1 she was the guildmaster for evil casters in the Freeport sewers and was also (disguised as a High Elf) one of the heads of Freeport's Academy of Arcane Science. In EQ2, she was still running the Academy before she stole Soulfire from Luclan (events before EoF release), she was thought to be killed while trying to flee to Neriak (part of assassin's Epic) until we meet her again in the revamped Freeport storyline. |

![]() Opal Darkbriar is probably, without question, the most potent Enchantress in Norrath. yes, in Eq1, she was the one of the guild leader of the Dismal Rage...and in a human guise, she was the Enchanter leader of the Academy. over the next 500 years, she acquired several more personas...from several other guilds. she uses a red gemstone that traps part or all of thier soul...so her illusions are pretty much not only perfect, but she also gains all thier skills in whatever form she takes. you learn that during the freeport line, when she takes on other forms when you confront her. she also claims that her stealing of Soulfire was to lure a buyer out of hiding. (I'm assuming this to be either Mayong, or D'vinn). she was handed over to Lucan after she stole soulfire as part of the Darlight Pact...and then Cristanos had the Ebon mask break her out. in the Assassin epic, you supposedly killed her while she was trying to get to Neriak. turns out, she never left freeport. the woman you killed was a high elf, who was enchanted and illusioned to 'become' opal. the assassin obviously didn't do a good job IDing the body after killing. Opal has been seeking out Tayil, who was apparently her star pupil (some even think that Opal and Lucan were lovers and Tayil is thier daughter) in order to capture her to deliver to Lucan to get back in his 'good graces'. in the freeport line, she has a guise of a male gnome, and a feamle lower officer from the Temple of War, and was very keen on learning how a Wrathguard was made. (her snooping is what tips the Wraithguard and Lucan off to her) when lucan confronts her and claims her powers won't work on him, she admits it and also claims she knows 'what he is' and that studying the creation process of a Wraithguard gave her the last bit of info/insight to figure it out. Lucan allows her to live, but doesn't give her any 'special' status and won't give her back any higher standing until Tayil is captured by her. he also says that he can't trust her after her theft of soulfire. and her reply is 'your right not to trust me' though she claims him being in power is benefical to her, and she prefer he stays in power. still makes me shake my head at how dumb lucan is dealing with Teir'dal. first he trusted Cristanos on her word...which she promptly broke, and now he's trusting Opal not to turn on him, again, when her main 'persona' is part of a guild that just acquired an ancient spell that can outright destroy a wraithguard. (you are given a choice to destroy, or fix Leneth earlier in the series) that doesn't require being an actual priest to cast it. |

![]() Looks like we have a Confirmation on the Arch-Revernant status, on Kyle Bayle's side (hmm I wonder if Firstborns always start with a K? Kane...Kyle) I wonder what that will make him eventually. Unfortunatly I got gated in the questline.
