![]() Hi Guys Since the patch I can no longer log into the game via the launch pad, so I took some good advice and went to launch the game directly from the EXE file. WHen I do that the mesage below is the one I get. I'm no computer expert, so just to check with you I'm launching using the file Everquest 2 16,436Kb in size. I see there is another fiel called EQ2 at 123KB but that simply launches the lancher again. I'm currently in the process of doing a full 13GB download of the game in desperation (its going to take ages), but if someone knows what the error message actually means and there is a quick way around it, that would be great to know. Erroe Message Using EXE file. 'Everquest 2 has detected an unrecoverable error and must shut down. |

![]() My hunch here is that you may have separate installations of Everquest II on your hard drive and are trying to bypass the LaunchPad on the installation that has never patched all, some, or the latest game files. Right-click the EQII icon you typically use to enter the game and select Open File Location. Double check under Program Files, Program Files (x86), or ProgramData for any other installations. Our current default install path is C:UsersPublicSony Online EntertainmentInstalled GamesEverquest II

![]() HI Thanks for replying, its much appreciated. So I looked around my 'C' drive for any other files for EQ2 and I didnt find any. You asked me to right click on my normal icon I use to find file location. The short cut is the actual launchpad itself which was installed when I first downloaded the game, I've not been using another file. When I do right click it does indeed take me to the file locaiton with one small change: C:UsersPublicSony Online EntertainmentInstalled GamesEverquest II Streaming. The streaming word is different at the end, thats the only difference I see. I do remember when I bought the game wanting to jump into it, so since then I've always just run the streaming client with no problems. I hope this additional information help can help you in some way. |

![]() I think that's it: you're running the game client directly without the options that'd tell it to switch into streaming mode. You normally don't have to worry about them, the launchpad supplies the correct options for full-download or streaming depending on which launchpad you're running. NB: I've found the full-download client to be more stable, and have avoided the streaming client like the plague due to it's greater likelihood of crashing or disconnecting when zoning. http://launch.soe.com/eq2/ is where you can find the installers for both. |

I know where the directories are, but you've not said what we're meant to look for in them. I'm getting exactly the same error message if I run the launcher. If I go into the directory and run launchpad.exe it wants to download 32GB. If I run everquest2.exe it works but will crash randomly. Edit: I redownloaded http://launch.soe.com/installer/EQ2_Full_setup.exe into the directory. It automatically opened the launcher and when I clicked on Play, I still got the same message. |
