![]() We are now sharing our EQ2 Players data feeds with third-party sites, which allows our incredible player community to use character data in their own creative ways. One example of community use of this information is EQ2 Wire's new EQ2U site. If you don’t want your characters to show up on third-party sites or the upcoming revamp of the EQ2 Players site, you should disable EQ2 Players Updates in the Character window (C). You can also choose whether or not to link your Alts, so that they may/may not be found via your other characters on a single account. (By default, your Alts are not linked.) In the Character window, click on EQII Share, then choose your preferences from the available options:
Once you have made your selection, your preference and information will be updated shortly after you next zone or camp out. EQ2U's FAQ has more information about the data feed as well as their companion site. Learn more about the upcoming EQ2 Players revamp from our Sneak Peek webcast, or read EQ2 Wire's transcript from the webcast. |

![]() And how do I keep my Guild data from being output? I want that information private. I can find no setting to block that. Also where can I access the API? |

![]() Is there anyway to have a guild roster on a guild portal site now? At one point you could do that from the old eq2players site. How would you go about doing that now? I can't use rostermaster as its just the Guildportal site and not my own php site. |

Not hypocritical at all. On one hand my guild wishes to remain as anonymous as possible. There should be a way to completely limit a guild from having their information displayed if they do not want it. On the other hand, I am a software developer going back to the days of UO/EQ1. So not out of the ordinary at all. |

![]() So you don't want anyone to be able to see your data, but you want to be able to make it possible for yourself and others to be be able to see what you want them to see, either way you are still a hypocrite if you use the data.

Why? Perhaps they made a guild with peple who want to remain separate from their mains? Heck I like to have a character that my main guild doesn't know about. What is wrong with that? Now of course, if they're doing something wrong and getting items through exploilts then sure I can see hiding the info. That's what being anonymous means nowadays more than being hypocritical. |

What is wrong with that? Having a character that your guild doesn't know about depends on guild policy, while eq2players was down/not working properly it was impossible to enforce, it still is but it is beig discussed about a character count. There is NOTHING wrong with wanting to have a character for your personal time at all, there should be no need to want to hide that from your guild. if your guild does not respect you enough to understand that when you are on that toon you are unavailable or will most likely decline to do other things then that is a different problem. In this case yourfirst statement does not really apply though, there is no way to link those toons to another unless they SPECIFICALLY enable it. If you block the data on ANY toon yet use these sites to examine other players you are a hypocrite, period.

![]() I think if Puzzle were ranting and raving about how we're invading his guild's privacy, then that would be undeniable hypocrisy. From what I can see, he asked politely if there was a way to opt out guilds.
Without a webhost, I'm not sure how you would do it. There are a lot of folks working with the API, so I imagine someone will produce a Javascript Guild Roster that you can embed in any website soon enough. |

![]() Ok here is the bottom line. A member of our group has a problem with an abusive relationship, basically a stalker. Now with the ability for someone(the stalker) to see every character listed in the guild, this stalker can now track down anyone through association of other players. Simply blocking your data still shows your player name listed in the guild. The bottom line is if you do not want your data (guild data or otherwise) made public, it should not be. There needs to be a way to block this information, all of it from prying eyes if desired. |

Hey bud, how immature are you really? I have a very serious concern and I most likely will not be the last person with this request. If users could block their data, then how could I access it? Wanting to protect myself or others if they prefer it, has nothing to do with my knowledge of web design, and use of the API. |

![]() The bottom line is that is not really "your" data anyway. You as a player lease (or not anymore in f2p) time to play a game that collects all sorts of data while you are playing it. All that data belongs to SOE, and as it doest not pertain to your actual real life self and rather a virtual avatar (that has no need for privacy) there is no obligation for SOE to protect it because this data does not pertain to anything "real". If a person is having trouble with a stalker use the appropriate tools and /report, /petition, our of game petition, or get on the phone and call SOE customer support. People do not have the "right" to have this data protected. Privacy "rights" do not apply here folks. |

SOE has policies in place to handle this, if this is the case then it needs to be petitioned with supporting information and it WILL be handled. They can, will and HAVE perma banned accounts for nefarious actvities such as these. I still see this as a non-issue in game, /ignore completely solves it. This sounds more like someone being hysterical rather than a real problem, if they already revealed real life information to this 'stalker' that is their problem to deal with but the information from the data feeds can in no way put them in any sort of jeopardy on it's own. If it is someone that they already knew IRL or met IRL after meeting in game, it is a criminal matter but still the data feeds do nothing whatsoever to contribute to or enable it to continue.

Actually you do have an implied right to privacy in a game such as this, simply saying that does not make it go away. And since SOE gives players the ability to use role/anon and to block others from talking to them. This is an implied right to privacy, and as I am paying for a service(as I am not FTP), SOE cannot arbitrarily give said protection in one medium to simply reveal it in another. If you have no right to privacy, then why does SOE give you the option to otp out of the individual data and the viewing of alts? This also demonstrates the "right to privacy" is more then implied, they have simply not realized that guilds still reveal players that are choosing to remain private. Players that take their privacy seriously may also choose to not play EQ2 because of the lack of control, and thus SOE loses customers. |

All you are doing is rationalizing it from your personal perspective, and branding someone hysterical is short-sighted and arrogant. Reality is, the option to opt out of listing your guild, and your association in a guild listing should exist and function as desired. When I check the box to keep my data from being accessed, that includes being listed in a guild. |

What specifically is the issue with this 'stalker'? I can't help but try to rationalize th issue from my perspective. I have no other perspective to rationalize from. What kind of real life issues is your groupmate actually experiencing if someone knows what AAs or what tier of spell they have?

Just exactly who's perspective would you prefer I rationalize it from? Yours? Saying something sounds hysterical is not branding someone as such. I guess it isn't short sighted and arrogant when YOU call someone immature because they see the hypocrisy in one that wants to block their data because they don't want others to see it yet has a desire to use the services to see others. It is working as intended the guild listing is fine, if you have your share PLAYER DATA unchecked it does not share player data, you can already verify if a toon is on or not in game so listing a name linked to no other alts is in no way a breach of privacy.

If the character is set to not publish info to the feeds, they shouldn't show up on a guild list either. If they do show up, that's something SoE should address. I'm not sure there's a need to have an entire guild hidden. |

Linked alts are not shown by default, players are. If it is too cumbersome and bothersome for you to uncheck it on each then it obviously isn't that big of an issue to you. You have to look at from the point that they want to encourage the use of this, not discourage it otherwise a lot of $, time and energy were wasted. There was nothing wrong with the default option of the characters showing in the data feed, the hogwash about it being a privacy issue is just that and nothing more. I again challenge anyone to demonstrate how this can be used to obtain any information about the account holder, until that can be done the privacy rants are just that... HOGWASH.

![]() I thought this was live now but it may not be just yet, if you are using a custom UI it will need to be updated before you will see that. If it is not live yet you have nothing to worry about the default is to NOT show alts that is something you must turn on as the default is do not show.
