I keep getting :

There was a problem decompressing the file C:Program Files (x86)Sony Online EntertainmentInstalled GamesEverQuest IIlp_tempLegendsOfNorrathLegendsOfNorrath.dll_delt a_10509_126.gz.

Station launcher will try again after 5 seconds.

... and then it cycles over and over. I have restarted the launcher several times as well and it is up to date ( it updated upon the first log-in attempt ).

NM, found I had duplicate instances of the file, deleted the second one, patcher running fine now.

For those of us with an old install of EQ1, be sure to delete the .dll file from the Legends of norrath folder inside the EQ2 folder, not the one in the Legends of norrath folder under Sony > installed games.

Worked for me - in fact the launcher was cycling as noted by others and the second I deleted this file it started working, updated and I am currently in game playing.

Make sure you are deleting ...EverQuest IILegendsOfNorrathLegendsOfNorrath.dll ... NOT ...EverQuest IIlp_tempLegendsOfNorrathLegendsOfNorrath.dll_delt a_10509_126

That should force the patcher to download the whole DLL instead of the corrupted delta file.

You've all gone and changed your password before trying to log in, right? If not, visit SOE.com first to get that done. SMILEY

There was a problem decompressing the file C:ProgramDataSony Online EntertainmentInstalled GamesEverQuest IIlp_tempLegendsOfNorrathLegendsOfNorrath.dll_delt a_10509_126.gz.

Yes, I've changed my password.Yes, SL updated itself.Yes, I've tried deleting the file in question, and re-running SL.Yes, I'm logged in as Admin, and am Running as Admin.

Yes, I'm using Station Launcher, because that's what SOE still advertises at http://launcher.station.sony.com/(I wouldn't mind using a newer client, if it didn't mean deleting 12.5GB and re-downloading it all, blowing my monthly cap, and paying my ISP more than a new EQ2 DVD).

Had the same problem, deleted the .dll file and the launcher resumed... now it tells me it cannot decompress the file C:ProgramDataSony Online EntertainmentInstalled GamesEverquest IIlp_temppaksexp03_dun_hollow_stump_sg.vpk_delta_1 0455_21. I've deleted this file several times, the updater redownloads it, but it still will not decompress. HELP!

Tried to log into my live account, so I can arrange to copy a character over to Freeport, but the download cancels immediately after file scan.

Dumped IE cache files. Deleted the LegendsOfNorrath folder. Dumped the logs and cache files in EQ2. Running as Administrator in Win7 x64.Logging in, no problem. Soon as the files get some scanning, immediate "download cancelled".

Looked for an error in the "EverQuest2Patch.log.001" patcher log, found this:[22:28:59] Patcher: Downloading Distribution Main Distribution ------------------[22:28:59] Patcher: Downloading qey_catacomb_epic04_SG.vpk [dloadsize=26339; totalsize=26339; crc=-1599506127][22:28:59] Patcher: PatcherZipper error(42,0,-3): (null)[22:28:59] Patcher: DownloadFileEx failed (42) on url=http://eq2.patch.station.sony.com:80/patch/eq2/en/patch1/main/paks/qey_catacomb_epic04_SG.vpk_delta_5.gz[22:28:59] Patcher: Error with partial patch, cancelling immediately. File: qey_catacomb_epic04_SG.vpk

Deleted all my vpk (voice packs) and downloading again. With a 1MB connection, this will probably be done sometime next week. Will see where the next error fails at.

I recommend deleting the qey_catacomb_epic04_SG.vpk in the PAK folder in your EQ2 game folder to force a redownload.  However, we do have a newer up to date Full or Streaming EQ2 LaunchPad.

Delete the file it could not decompress in the paks folder (not lp_temp, though you can safely delete this whole folder as well). Same goes for any of these issues. It should come up with an error and display the file that needs deletion. Also everyone should run a full file scan.

Instructions for Successful Patch:

  1. Run the Launcher as ADMIN (Right Click Option)
  2. CANCEL the upadate.
  3. Run a FULL FILE SCAN                                  - (Station Launcher) Games (Menu at the Top) -> Game Preferences -> EverQuest II (Option on the Left Hand Side) -> Full File Scan (Button in the Middle of the Screen).                                 - (EverQuest II Launcher) Options (Button at the Top) -> Clear Cache (Button down the Bottom).
  4. Delete ANY files it cannot decompress from their directories (please see examples below).
  5. If all else failes, reinstall the launcher and start again.

Possible locations for EverQuest II Installation (Hold WindowsLogo Key + R to Open These Locations Quickly):

32BIT Windows / X86 -

C:ProgramDataSony Online EntertainmentInstalled GamesEverQuest II

C:Program FilesSonyEverQuest II

C:Program FilesSonyInstalled GamesEverQuest II

C:Program FilesSony Online EntertainmentInstalled GamesEverQuest II

C:UsersPublicSony Online EntertainmentInstalled GamesEverQuest II

64BIT Windows / X64 -

C:Program Files (x86)SonyEverQuest II

C:Program Files (x86)SonyInstalled GamesEverQuest II

C:Program Files (x86)Sony Online EntertainmentInstalled GamesEverQuest II

C:UsersPublicSony Online EntertainmentInstalled GamesEverQuest II

Issues After Patch:

Make sure you've done a full file scan as described above.

If problems persist make sure your DirectX is up to date. This can be the cause of a black screen or odd errors.

See if you ae patching the test server. If you are, then just stop patching it and switch to live server.

Word from this morning:

Users experiencing problems with EQII loading (the LoN dll issue) please make sure they get the latest Windows update (seems to resolve a similar error in other games).

I was having trouble with this, and deleting the .dll delta in the temp file did not work, once I deleted LegendsOfNorrath.dll in the Legends of Norrath folder it worked just fine.
