Can DoV be gifted?

As the title says - if we want to gift the expac to someone else, shy of buying the retail box and giving out the code therein - is there a way to do this digitally?

dont think so - cause then that would mean you can pretty much get the game for in game plat.

Gifting is the wrong word in this case. You can buy an expansion and give it away as a present if you want.

And yes, sadly its possible to sell codes for plat. SOE wont care, since the copy was sold anyway and its not a big deal. Still a bit questionable because real economy meets game economy. Well, if someone wants to buy plat, this is probably the win-win solution

I just answered for those who really want to make a present to others. I once got a CE code of DoV as present from someone who had two and was really happy about the monkey.

Currently (until we get a chance to improve it someday), Gifting only works on items that can be transferred to a specific character. Things like the vampire race and expansion packs affect an entire account and, although I know it might seem odd to you, that affects a completely different system and we'd have to involve another group in the company outside of the dev team to make it happen. We'd like Gifting to work with everything, but until that other team gets some breathing room, we won't get to make such a change to Gifting.

It does make sense to me. I dont hate SC, but it should make a profit and help to control the problems. It would be probably a good idea to put a quarterly and reasonable contingent of plat on the maketplace and a certain chance to drop game cards on hard nameds. Else its a crowd of wolves waiting for the sheep where the sheep are your potential new customers and the wolves your potential ex customers leaving for [insert game here]. Its almost like SOE has to pay players to play their game. Weird world

Thanks for the reply Smokejumper. My guild would like to giveaway copies to some of our members  -  Ill just go buy boxed versions and give out the codes.

Direct 2 Drive has a give option but not yet for this expansion.  Could be that it's still marked as pre-order.  A guild member of mine was trying to purchase for another guild member today and the option isn't up for it just yet but should be soon.
