Just for fun, old-timers ... if you think of just one noun that reminds you of the "early days" of tradeskilling, what would it be?

The first things I thought of were:

  • fossil temper
  • dandy elm quill
  • tradeskill society
  • golden meat bucket

Let's hear some more SMILEY

Confused.

I started playing just before the crafting got an overhaul---one I day discovered writs, the next day they were gone.

Was the first finished combine I ever made. It was crude (and it looks crude too) but by jove it was my bookshelf.

WORTS (as already said)

"shaped" (whatever)

And personally "why the heck did they overhaul (badly) tradeskilling a week and a half before launch???"  I know that's flippant, but that's really what KEPT going through my mind continually that first month or so.

Feysteel, Ebon and Cobalt arrow heads

Also having stacks of subcombines so that when folks wanted armor it didn't take 100 combines to make a full set

It was also nice to craft pieces from rares that raiders actually wanted (although the current raid arrows are nice but there's no brawler ammo to make for my main)

Orange juice.  I still have some.

Anyone remember the unique items when you utterly failed a combine?

Nothing says ye olden days like WORTS but a few runners up:

Pepper (legendary)

Harvestable Mushrooms (Turnips are a mushroom)

Rye (or any other grain)

Crude Ebon Sconce (I still have one, thanks Adeste)

Tradeskill society level 3. Go Greystone!

mmmh, no, I can't remember the name of the utterly failed item.

  • WORTS
  • Ink
  • Laquer (or however the name was in english)
  • quill
  • The Heralds of K'Lorn

mmmh, there was another item from mushrooms I used all the time to make glowing / lambent / luminous powders. I still miss those mushrooms and subcombines

WORTS

Subcombines

Loathing the Provi subcombines

Alchemy harvesting nodes, can't remember what they were truly called

Stacks of whatever my crafters needed, omg, stacks and stacks (I had 8 crafters back then)

Intro of geomancy

The many deaths not only from the forge but the other stations, too

Making inks, imbues

mastercrafted arrows from the leftovers of mc'd metaled gear

Being one of the few Jewelers who'd willingly make the palladium piece for SBR, I made a lot of plat then

And hating hating omg hating subcombines, heh

WORTs, harvesting fungi nodes, studs (made my first gold from those!) and death by forge.

And the best of all - Dreake's tutorial on the starter island!

Tradeskilling got the overhaul only a couple of months after I started playing but I have some happy memories

The heck is W.O.R.T.S? Firs thing that comes to mind when I think back to early tradeskilling were the numerous individual tradeskill societies found in each village.
