Filly, you complain far to much. The appropriate response to anything given to you above and beyond the terms of service is - thank you.

Now. Mr. SJ; can you get them to fix StationPlayers for me please? <3

Thanks for the laugh Lilly.  Yes I do, and I also appreciate a fellow snarky responder.  LOL.  Thank you for your advice and please don't hold your breath waiting for you SP fix.

Thanks for nothing i guess.

I heard a phrase a while back that seems to come to mind here.. "he would complain if he was hung with a new rope"...

What I mean is this... they don't -have- to give us bonus xp at all... and complaining about something thats nice and a bonus just because this time it isn't PERFECT for you to sit down with a case of caffiene and grind your xp out is kinda rude.

They don't -have- to give us anything but a game to log in to... beyond that?  take the nice stuff in the spirit it is intended... as something extra and nice for us.

Ok, you are missing the point here. Yes, I realize they DO NOT have to give us the double XP, yes I know we as players should NOT expect this. Yes I know it's a GIFT and I should be forever grateful for it. The point is, since Double XP costs them nothing to implement, why would you not do so in such a way that makes 90% of your players happy, rather than 50%?

I'm not saying don't do it on a weekday, all I'm saying is add 1 or 2 weekend days as well, that's all.

I really DON'T want to complain about the double XP during the week, since the poor saps who work weekends never get a break, but...I have to agree, it would have made sense to include at least one actual weekend day.

I'll get my time in, either way...but dangit, I just finished my vacation, can't take more days off!

So a thanks for the weeklong double XP, a thanks for thinking of the people who usually get no time at all due to their schedules, and a minor whine that you really didn't have to mess with those of us who DO work all week. Both groups could have been happy (happier? I'm still happy for the evening hours I will have, so I'll not cry myself to sleep tonight)

The idea of a time sensitive item that unlocks a 48-72 hour period is a really good one. Obviously too late for this round, but I hope the Devs take a look at that for later.

Also cool about the double station cash for the cards this weekend, since we already had a double station cash last weekend. Yes, that actually just benefits SOE, and there will be people who cry about any marketplace action at all, but meh. QQ more.

If you want to stick it to SOE, buy double station cash and lots of the Cloaks of Snowfall, since that technically ends up 'costing' them money and forces them to donate all those ill gotten gains to Child's Play!

eah, great news! that means we  will have no fix for Battlegrounds on the Russian servers till January or February or ever... viva SOE developers who cannot fix their own game for 10 months...

I'm sorry for whining but our holidays are definitely screwed up, thanx guys! Merry X-mas!

You know SOE is really going out of their way to say they are offering stuff but really just sticking crap down our throats and telling us its candy.

Most people work during the week and to put double XP on weekdays only is a huge slap in the face.  You couldn't include a weekend too and please everyone could you?

You know SJ, I have been known to think that people have been hard on you but seeing about how you write things like  (and I am paraphrasing) that let people leave they will come back is just arrogant and idiotic.  I love this game but you seem to be spending alot of time thinking about ways to improve the game.  Unfortunately, you then look at you great change and decide to tweak it for the worse.  It really seems clear that you enjoy jerking your paying customers around.

Add that to the fact that you installed a gift system that allows players to basically be plat farmers is really just icing on the cake.  Oh, and then you allow them to blantantly advertise their services in chat.  Once again proving if it's money in SOE's pocket it's all good.

Honestly, there is no other way to view you except as a person who doesn't want to extend this game to it's full potential and allow us to enjoy it.

I wish I could express my disdain better but I am really just at a loss.  Nice work.

u mad?

Lol way to take your personal, unfounded, randomly venomous opinions and dump them on one guy.

Yea it totally makes sense that SJ wants the game to fail, I mean it's only his job, right? And of course everything that goes on with this game is totally his doing. As Senior Producer he is the GOD of eq2 right? He answers to NO ONE!

Oh wait, that's not the case. At all.

Even though I hate SC more than you. Even I can see that your inability to voice a coherent argument, backed by anything resembling facts does more to hurt your cause than help it. Even though I don't know you, I am embarrassed by your blatant bashing simply because we play the same game.

Man I really wish people would THINK before they post.

And the rest of you? Complaining about the timing of FREE double xp?

NEWSFLASH

Double XP is a gift, a freebie. Way to be jerks about it.

If SOE were half as money-hungry as you people want everyone to believe, they'd just redefine the xp curve to about half of what it is now and offer reduced price xp pots as a 'holiday gift'

Personally I'd just flag all your station accounts for 1/4 xp just for [Removed for Content] me off if I were SJ. Good thing I'm not in charge. SMILEY

Kiki, you're entitled to your opinion although you don't seem to grant the same courtesy to others.

I think that many others stated that I made my points very clear, including SJ himself.  I listed facts, and some of my own opinions which is what a forum of this type is for.

Just because you don't like people's views does not mean that they are wrong.  Yes, double xp is not something that has to be given but it is a reward to players who pay a subscription, usually happily.  To offer it both on weekdays and weekends hurts noone and benefits almost everyone.

BTW, I have no issue with SC, so don't speak for me.  My problem is that SOE allows players to sell SC items for plat which clearly they are then selling for more cash then the SC products cost them.

So, we're in wind-down mode for the year as we get ready for the holiday break, and also get Velious ready for beta testing.

Yup. That's right. "Destiny of Velious" is almost ready for beta testing! We're going into internal "Friends and Family" mode today and then we'll start authorizing players for Closed Beta testing when we come back in 2011. So that's great news. (TOFS, here I come!)

Additionally, we're doing two other cool things right before the end of the year.

1) From the 24th to the 27th of December, any Station Cash cards redeemed will be doubled in effect. This is our "Double Station Cash Stocking Stuffer" program if you see it mentioned elsewhere.

2) Also, we're doing Double XP Days from Dec 27th (monday) to Dec 30th (thursday). Most of you will be shocked to hear that we're doing Double XP not actually on one of the holidays and on weekdays instead of weekends. Don't fall down in shock.

So in summary: Velious beta soon, a bonus for stocking stuffers, and Double XP Days. Happy holidays! Enjoy Frostfell!

Way to ruin a Xmas holiday for those of us that Actually have to work the week after Christmas..  EPIC FAIL.. at least you could have made it Xmas eve through the week  as a gift for EVERYONE'S schedules!!

VERY DISAPPOINTING

Wow, you people need to get off the Entitlement high-horse and smack yourselves in the face with the reality stick.

Be grateful for everything you have, even if you can't take FULL AND COMPLETE advantage of the FREE xp bonus.  At least you live in countries where you have money to pay for internet access and have the money to buy a game and have the leisure time to play that game when you like.

Sheesh.

....and people wonder why I'm a misanthrope.  *mumblegrumblegrumble*

Do marketplace exp pots stack with these double exp days? This is a fair question to ask considering it's regarding a credit card paid product. I assume you don't want people asking for a refund if these don't stack.

Sort of what I was thinking. I work during the week and have a life on the weekend so I have about the same amount of time to play on any given day whether it is M-F or Sat and Sunday. Double xp is double xp. It isnt like they are charging us extra for it or something.

Now, if it were a potion sold to us with that double station cash and it limited us to only use it on xxdays, now that would be something to complain about.

Merry Christmas SOE and thanks for the *stuffs*

SOE decides to do something nice and random and people are kvetching because it doesn't benefit them personally. Did you want SOE to contact you direct and ask when it would be convenient for you to get the Double XP?

Ah did like SJ's joke "spending marketing money in January to publicize the game again". Don't they have to have publicized the game at least once (outside ingame sources and/or gamer sites) to really count as 'again'?

Oh, so all of us have to shut up and have no opinions but you get to drop a snarky comment about advertisment.  Drive up one way streets much?

BTW, this wasn't random, they have been mentioning a bonus weekend for quite some time now.  No one is upset or bothered by the weekdays, it's the weekdays only which never happens on the weekend side.

It's true. I really haven't seen anyone complain that most of the bonus is during the week. I think it's selfish to ask for all 4 days instead of throwing the mon-fri people the bone of one single day out of 4. How is that being selfish? It's called compromise, and I think most of us would be happy with just one weekend day. I apologize for being a working person, I don't see why we can't have the best of both worlds.

It's happened.  I seem to recall a whole week.  But yeah, it's rare.

Meanwhile, someone I used to work with used to say "If Smed personally sent every player a check for $100, they'd stil complain."

I'm pretty sure this is not going to come across as I intend it, nut here goes anyway. SMILEY

The last few bonus xp rounds left me beind.  I wasn't able to be around for the weekend they were on, therefore couldn't play.  Were SOE to do it on the weekend THIS time, I'd most likely be left out again.  Sorry, I have kids, and a Christmas weekend bonus XP would be unused...I'm sure you can imagine why.  Then, the next weekend being New Year's, I'm betting a significant number of people would be otherwise distracted and not in game either.

So, at least for people like me, having the bonus XP during the week is actually something that works this time.  I am sorry for all that think they are getting the short end of the stick, but think about the rest of us next double XP WEEKEND.  The poeple on this thread that are complaining about having bonus XP during the week, whether they mean to or not, give the impression that they don't care about anyone else, only "Me, me, me."  You get an opportunity for extra XP, but don't think it's best for you.  SJ said they wouldn't change it for ya.  I'm sorry your request was denied, and hope you can take advantage of at least SOME of the XP.

I (personally) didn't ask for the change , but am thankful that this time I can enjoy the extra XP.  I'm pretty sure that the next time there's a double XP bonus it'll be on a weekend again.  Maybe, just MAYBE, those that are so mad about this should find a nice chair, , and a good book and take a break for a few days from gaming.  After all, it's a GAME, and there are some here getting bent WAY out of shape over a perceived slight.

There, I've had my say.  I only hope I did it in a way that won't be taken wrong...but seeing that this is a text-only forum, and judging from how things have happened before, someone will take offense.  I do thank SJ and the team for the bonus XP, and hope to see the beta soon.

To each and every one of you, I want to wish a you a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.  See you in game.

Whew heated thread ! Ok so we all have our opinions on this matter but lets try and see this for what it is some love some hate it big surprise.

Most players just went through a merger including 24 or more hours of downtime and down chat, broker, and mail systems. Also it's the holidays.

It would not be fair to ask for days to be changed that were promised that would be self serving to those that did. But as a holiday gift how about add Sunday as A bonus XP day in addition ? That may help most players take advantage of the event, unless of course there is a game issure preventing that.

Oh yea, flame on !

Sigh, no one is complaining about having the vast majority of it during the week. Just to split it out so there is one singular weekend day involved. I have a kid and work too, I have Christmas coming up too. It's called life and we all have different schedules. It's a question of logic, can you throw a tiny bone to a huge portion of your community while still making the weekday people happy? We were basically told that a bonus xp event was coming up, I'm sure most of us expected it on a holiday weekend. It's OK to mix that up, but you can at least make it semi fair. Please see note above about them running Fri-Mon which includes two weekdays as well. It's not like there was never any weekday time involved on those weekends. It doesn't matter anyways, they aren't going to change it. But let me tell you, I've really been looking forward to this with my Mystic for about two months, and I'm personally really dissappointed. I know this is a nice to have event, but it kind of blows hard that it can't be split across a weekend/weekdays to make everyone happy. I will make this blanket statement, if anyone can't see that and isn't willing to give up one day out of 4, you are selfish and shouldn't be enjoying Christmas anyways. True story.

Weekday people always have had bonus, sometimes Thursday, Friday, Monday and Tuesday mushed around the weekenders.

I'd wager the vast majority of players have weekends free though.  So this weekday ONLY bonus hits just a small percentage.  In the spirit of the holiday, extending it to a full week (Mon-Sun or Sun-Sat) would hit a much larger target.  This isn't whining, this isn't entitlement.. it's explaining what a f'ed up decision it was to only cater to a minority and call it a present, and how it could be easily remedied.

It would be similar to giving only the 7yr vet reward people a double xp stretch.

From all reports, having a Bonus XP on the weekdays is a rare event (if it even has happened before)

As someone who usually works/is busy on weekends, the bonus weekends usually start Friday morning and end Monday MORNING.  It's only one "weekday" and a lot of people really don't consider Friday a weekday.  For a lot of people, Friday is the first day of the weekend.

So I was able to take advantage of a few hours during those bonus times.  And usually not at all on Monday morning.
