Hum,

Could the repeatable be truly repeatable and not with at 2 hours cooldown like last time? If we have to wait 2 hours between each run, it means waiting 50 hours (not counting sleep time) to get the 25x reward. It seems... er... well... you got my meaning

I haven't done the repeatables 5 times yet, but I am hearing a lot of complaints about the rewards not being in game, so I'm holding off until I hear that they are in game.

I've done the Ro Candle quest on multiple characters this year and haven't gotten any house item or reward from them, exept the choice of food or drink.  One was very recently created.  Has done it ten times, and no other reward.

Just thought I'd mention it.  As far as I've been able to hear, no one I've talked to has seen a reward for this quest this year.

Ack!  There was an issue with it, but it was only with the Qeynos version of the quest... no wonder I missed it.  At any rate, thank you all for helping us identify this issue!  Thanks to you the following issue should be resolved:

* Adventurers completing the quest "Festive Flames in Qeynos" will now successfully get the "Ro Candle" house item on every 5th completion of the quest.

This fix is on it's way, via the usual QA approval, along with all of the fixes I announced on Monday.

Oh goodie and yay!  I always get so tickled when I can contribute in some way.

I'll let my Freeport character have a run at it today.  It was a Qeynos character who'd done it ten times, and she's willing to do it again to get that candle, though I agree with others that doing for all my alts is probably not going to happen.

So, hum... will the paintings be back?

Please say yes!

And if yes, please remove the guild level requirement from them!

On a different note, I was just looking at the dates of the event again, and it looks like server merges might be going on around the same time. Any chance of extending it a few days so even those being merged get the full duration of the event (because I can bet we'll lose a day or two in there!)? If the merges won't interfere then disregard. SMILEY

Heyya everyone!

Just a warning that I'm going to be deactivating Heroes' Festival on 11/1/10 to make room for Frostfell testing.  The Heroes' Festival will then be reactivated on 11/19/10 and last until 12/1/10.

If I am not mistaken one of the 5 year anniversary contest paintings is available on the city festival merchant, and has been since last year.  But no, the rest of the 5 year anniversary contest paintings will not be back this year.  But on the good side, a different painting contest just concluded and there are more painting contests planned for the future.

The timing may coincide with some of them, and if that is the case then I don't have an issue with the dates for those individual servers being adjusted to last a bit longer to make it up.  We'll have to wait and see what happens.

Thanks for the heads up!

The main winner of the 5th year contest is on the City Merchant still (permantely?), the ones on the City Faire merchant are from a different contest.

Frankly, though I know there are going to be more contests like this and we'll have more opportunties to purchase different paintings of these types, the whole bunch of 5th year contest winners -should- come back at least for 1 more time because it didn't make any bloody sense to put them on the City Merchant, with a guild requirement of lvl 20, cost a decent chunk of status and a few gold, if it wasn't going to be STAYING on the City Merchant.

So a good portion of the population, myself included, just thought the timing for them to be released was to coincide with the Heroes' festival and our birthday celebration but that they'd stay in game to be purchase-able later.   When you had the extra $, Status or the proper guild level.

So basically house lovers who couldn't or didn't jump on it right then were shafted due to poor planning and execution!

The 1st place winner could still have been on the City Merchant, since it was staying but there should have been a Heroes' Merchant that sold the rest and any other pictures of the same theme.   You know pictures of heroes' and Heroic deeds .. etc .. to amazingly coincide with the whole 'Heroes' Festival!'

what Kaisha said.

I bought a bunch on lives because I wasn't sure it would stay and I went on the safe side (and has guild and status to spare). I couldn't buy them on Test because I didn't have the guild and not enough status anyway.

A lot of unguilded people missed those items, not speaking of those that didn't know the paintings were available or those that thought they would stay or those that just were not there.

Those paintings were great and it's sad to see new contests staying but this one gone forever SMILEY

What's the big deal about NOT bringing them back? With the whole new F2P thing starting up, this is another easy way open up a few things for new players to purchase for their houses. A friend who quit soon after DoF came out just now came back to the game and has rerolled his paladin. He's been spending many hours in his new Halas house and is going to town with sprucing it up.

It's not like you guys have to spend a lot of time, effort, and money into making new items, because they are already done! Why put so much effort into something like this, when you only have things like this for a ONE TIME ONLY EVENT? I can see having them on the merchant during these 2 weeks of the holiday (like you do with other holiday events), but to say "oh no, those were for the 5th Year Anniversary event, and you'll never ever get a chance to buy them again!"

Just put 'em in game again for the length of the holiday event and make your customers happy versus grumpy and angsty.

Here is some additionnal feedback on those.

I finally rolled my crafting alts through this (I always run events with them but they're undergeared).

  • Could we get those repeatables (missing decorations and Ro candles) to be repeatabled and not on a 2 hours cooldown pretty please? At least a 1 hour cooldown or a half hour one would be way better
  • The orcs and gnolls are a tad bit too powerfull. Yes, I'm undergeared but I really had to gear up to get them. One arrow down more would be easier. Not a big point anyway.
  • Is it intended that the orcs and gnolls are poping when you get close to the crate and then poping a second time after you get the crates?
  • You know that the old map system can still be used, it's you (SoE) that give us the possibility to use it? 'cause if you don't have the newer map system that went on with GU57 I think, you won't have the dots for the dwarf, and it's starting to be a real pain to go several times in all the hidden corners of North Freeport and South Qeynos hoping to see this [Removed for Content] dwarf pop. Please, give us the blue dot AND a tracking whisp!
  • Please... Could the green sparkle for the missing decorations be a bit less random in an area, I'm always missing one in the end and spend tens of minutes trying to find it.

I ran a couple of my undergeared crafters on Test through these quests and I agree that the gnolls and orcs are a tad too powerful.  I had to run away on more than one occasion.

Once I knew about the second pop I was ready for the fight and simply ran to the nearest guards who kindly despatched my attackers.

hrm .. so a Legal reason?

Guessing the release the winners signed only stated it would only be released once in game, then?

Seems strange. I'd have thought SOE would have snapped up the rights to do what they wanted with the property & for as long as they wanted once signed over.  Pretty sure there would have been a clause restricting the winners to not use their winning pictures in any form indefinitely, at the very least.

Heyya everyone!

I've got a few more changes headed your way, via the usual QA approval process, of course:

Live Events - Heroes' Festival* The decoration stealing gnolls and orcs involved in the "Missing Decorations..." quests within Qeynos and Freeport have been made a bit easier.* Decoration search spots for the "Missing Decorations..." quests within Qeynos and Freeport are now marked on the zone maps.* Firework search locations for the "Festive Flames..." quests within Qeynos and Freeport are now marked on the zone maps.

I hope these changes help!

It seems it was patched

  • Orcs are perfect now
  • Point 2 & 3: sorry but it's a bit useless. We already know those things are in half the zone we're in so we still have to search everywere. And second point IT'S NOT SUPPORTED ON THE OLD MAP SYSTEM either

So, ask the former winners if they want their paintings permantently available and have a release for them to sign. If they sign, yay, if they don't their paintings sink into oblivion never to be seen again.

If it were my painting, I would want it available in game.  I guess there could be some other reason, but the only one I can think of is this one.

Boooo! i am not happy with that decision, i did like to get other painting "Humble Beginning".

i see no reason why they werent added back in, due to limited time, high level requirement to have status, and there wasnt enough time.

as i have said, that was poorly planned made by SOE staffs by making unfair to unguilded or not met requirement on time.

if i was CEO of Sony/Eq2, i would extend timer or move them to station or marketplace  to be avialable to painting collectors and house decorators, ending all that "elitist" favorism. that is not acceptable to players who dont have much resources.

i cant see why i would want to "celebrate" eq2 anniversary without memo sentimental value or happy to own a piece of historical sovieniers. it feel like having no cake for birthday.

this just hurt morale of players and feel pushed away. real gamers know what gamers likes.

forgot to add last statement to staff team, if it is players making lot of popular demand because it is favorites, i think it is more healthy to allow rest of paintings to be on limited time or move rest of it on station's marketplace, but maybe in new frames to keep original 5th year as unique, switch to plain frames or engraved.

just look at those many players wishing it could come true.

maybe give poll and see numbers of votes.

please dont let players down and get feel shut away due to factors of limited time, required status points, and huge roadblock required high guild level. no one was able to get from 20 lvl to 80 lvl (last year) in a week or less just to meet requirement to purchase paintings, these shows poor planning by SOE staffs, it not player faults who decided limited time on merchants, it was you folks put on merchants and suddenly yank it out before other players get chance to buy them when they work hard trying.

The fliers people throw at you remain in your inventory. = Never caught that on Test Copy since no one else was around. Could they be changed to no-zone so you can get rid of them somehow? aITEM 1678880313 -1953004537:Qeynos Heroes' Festival Band Flier/a and aITEM -1485904415 -1119278829:Freeport Heroes' Festival Band Flier/a are the items in question.

edit: Swynend Sithenias for the Freeport band quests had no completed quest book over his head when I was done with Aggressive Advertising in Freeport.

That and is it possible to change it so that the fliers recieved this way have a 1/100 chance at being the house item version?

I didn't even notice on Test that we got the stackable fliers from people.  Probably 'cause Test is so low population and it wasn't as big of a deal just standing around and in my already busy inventory on Test (really need to purge some crap there) didn't notice anything new but on Live I got pelted over 20 times on the walk from the NQ Claymore to the Bank.  It's not a big deal since they stack, just wishing there was a purpose to them other than [deleting] them.

Seperate post for a different subject ..

Again .. and I am begging here .. I ask for the Dream Shard (Shattered Remains) quest to be changed!

Please, PLEASE, change it so that the Void tears in space (whatever they are) are INSIDE the original void zone where you talk to Thumore!

1 - I dislike having to zone so many times for a single quest.

Zone to Thumore, Zone to City, Zone to 1st Dream, Zone to City, Zone to Thumore, Zone to City, Zone to 2nd Dream, Zone to City, Zone to Thumore, Zone to City, Zone to 3rd Dream, Zone to City, Zone to Thumore, Zone to City, Zone to 4th Dream, Zone to City, Zone to Thumore, Zone to City, Zone to 5th Dream, Zone to City, Zone to Thumore, Zone to City

Woot!  done! rinse & repeat for next character!

For those that don't want to sit there and count, that's 22 zonings for 1 quest.

2 - While it's never a big deal on Test on Live, there are lots of Rude and unintentionally Rude people standing around -and- in the Void Tear in the City.  This makes it hard to actually get into the Void at times.  Running 1 character through in Q, yesterday there was an afk Ranger on a horse that was exactly centered in the Void.  Made finding that tiny pixel that actually triggers Zoning a bit on the annoying side.   Similar instance over in FP with my Evil only this time it was a Ogre on a Rhino .. do you know how BIG an Ogre on a Rhino can get?

It's too late for this year obviously .. just making sure the Devs know I'm not asking for a bloody miracle for this week .. but next year can we please get it so that when you go into meet Thurmore, HE opens up each new Dream Void Tear.  Or, could even add in Void Tears surrounding him.  Make them look like a Cross between Druid Rings & Void Tears, in that they'll have a snap shot of the each Dream and of course the Return to [Q / FP] City inside each of the Void Tears.

That way we'd only have to Zone to Thumore, Zone to 1st Dream, Zone to Thumore, Zone to 2nd Dream, Zone to Thumore, Zone to 3rd Dream, Zone to Thumore, Zone to 4th Dream, Zone to Thumore, Zone to 5th Dream, Zone to Thumore, Zone to City!

Still a lot of zoning but 12 zones is still much better than 22 zonings!!

Please & Thank you!
