I have contacted support about this and they said they are working on the issue, and it should take a few hours.  Which is probably a day.  But there is a temporary fix, you have to download this...

http://launcher.station.sony.com/

The only problem is that you also have to wait for it to download the whole game all over again.

So here I wait.  And I haven't seen ANYTHING on the message boards about it yet, and was instructed to do so.  So, I will start the thread.  Anyway, there is the temporary fix.  And they are working on the issue.  He also said that all his "calls" online chat support has been about this issue, I was very relieved to find out that I haden't been hacked.  So, keep that in mind.  They are working on it.

Send me a tell if you have any information I haven't included or reply to this post.

Thank you,

Gwen

Try this:

http://forums.station.sony.com/eq2/...topic_id=483566

If you run Vista, you may need to turn off User Account Control (Control Panel--> User Accounts) to be able to edit that file. Just be sure to turn it back on when you're done!

Ahh good to know its not just me...  Was more than a little shocked to login to a "Create Character" screen... And ya, having to download the whole game again (for a complete reinstall) is simply unsatisfactory imo... My install is fresh, only 2 days old, and so going through 15 gigs of downloads AGAIN already doesnt throw warm fuzzies my way at all...

Please see my stickied post here as it provides a good workaround to your issue. http://forums.station.sony.com/eq2/...topic_id=483566

Tell me about it I nearly CRIED!  I have a lvl 90 char... and haven't had problems for days, all of a sudden it crashed and when I rebooted my laptop I was at the char create screen.  I can't tell you how emotional I get.... lol

And yes, indeed why I posted this, to let you guys know your certainly not the only one.  I know how I FELT!

I agree, that is totally unstisfactory, we allready have the game installed so I really dont see the point, but for now, it's all they have.  I was in the middle of a bunch of stuff including moving one of my alts to a new house and decorating, and questing for cool items for her new house /sigh.

So, good luck everyone.

Gwen

Yeah I had the same problem and I looked at the bottom left of the laucher and it said EU. And I needed to relog again and it kicked me to EU again. So I did the suggested here in the forums and added the line into the .ini file. But now I'm doing a 400mb update that has been going on for 20 minutes now, that ussualy only takes a second.

Wow!! For me a 400 mb download would take around 11 hours if connection is ok (getting around 80bkps) SMILEY

Good to see you got into the game again. Can't let those decorating ideas vanish in a cloud of forgetfulnes over time, can we? =)

Good luck!

Yeah, that worked, but my game has just plum crashed twice in the past hour since I've been playing.  Me thinks they did something else, too... >.>

The Dev said he hopes to have a fix by Monday (very soon, anyways).  I personally wouldn't downgraded to Station Launcher, as I have found performance to be a tick better with the Streaming Client, and the Station Launcher isn't going to be around forever.

Since a fix is on the way, I personally will just switch the Region to U.S. before I play for a few more days, or his workaround of modifying the .ini file should make it stick until the hotfix.
