This is EXACTLY what's happening to me. I bypassed the launcher as you did and it cycled through all the login servers and then told me I couldn't connect. Sorry you're having a problem but at the same time it's good to know I'm not alone. If I find a fix for this before SOE does it, I'll post it here. If you find one please do the same for me. Thanks.

Bunch of guildies had this problem with the streaming client. I had no issue using the station launcher however (there is a difference).

Sort of hard to find, but go here: http://launcher.station.sony.com/

That will download and install the entirety of EQ2 for you. No need to stream off the buggy streaming client.

This is all well and good for you people who know what you're doing, but I don't know enough about this to go deleting crap and renaming other things, the game should run when you click the provided launcher. And it doesn't.

Is there going to be a fix for this? I saw two red names saying it should be working now but it isn't. "Try patching again"... I assume that involves doing something other than opening the launcher and watching as it disappears? If so, can you please tell me what I should be doing?

I'm having the same issue, I launch from Steam and the EQ2 Launcher comes up and crashes before I can click on anything. I tried running the game directly w/o the launcher but that crashes the game as well.

My station launcher keeps getting this error message

Station launcher will try again after 5 seconds.

and fails to update everytime however when i try on the test version it downloads. please help, i just want to get back to questing.

I am having the same issue the guy before me has. The patcher has failed try again in 5 seconds. Any help would be nice.

It's the same for me. I can login into the US servers, but I can't do it on the EU ones, which is what I want to do. It just shows that a small update is needed (2mb, 3mb, 4mb, it keeps changing), but, the update never completes.

Had to delete 2.6 gig worth of files in assetchache in order for it to get past the 'crashing while trying to connect' part of the launcher, which means i have to redownload everything again.

Not a good first impression on a 14-day trialer who, up til this point, was enjoying the game.

totally insane customer service! also getting patching problems and unable to fire up the game on eu server.

ya know, people often dont mind if they are kept informed but the launcher still makes out that the world is rosey and everything works perfectly.

customers should not have to trawl through user forums to look for info, and when they do are greeted with same the same sort of confusion and bewilderment at whats happening.

i heard SoE customer service wasnt the best but hoped that 1 day into my new sub i wouldnt see this for maself. cant recommend this game to anyone atm.

Exactly how i feel. I waited all day yesterday to see if this would get fixed and the only customer support i've seen is that this forum got moved twice to here and not one support dev has answered anything. I believe i seen a couple of them got their's fixed and haven't heard a word on this since. I've been getting the same issue as the guys above with my launcher restarting scan every 5 secs. Really weak Sony.....you could at least acknowledge the fact tht you see our cries for help but all we're left with is other good people trying to figure this out and tell us what works for them.......in the end it seems like everyone is gonna have to re-download this....that is some sad coustomer service

This is extremely sad that it has been several days since i have started getting issues with this mess, the fact that there is an issue staring them in the face causing an uproar in the forums and they have little to nothing to say about it towards fixing it or simply adressing the matter. SOE i am deeply dissapionted for i am a long time fan and subscriber to your 'games' and this is not how i expected to be playing them

Still can't connect to the servers, and I still see nothing from SOE on this. I was having a good time playing both EQ and EQ2, but the fact that I may have to reinstall the whole thing kills it for me. I will be unsubscribing this evening if I still can't log in. Guess I'll go back to WoW.

i have played many other mmorpg's and found my favorite of all to be Everquest 2, its storylines, charecter development and atmosphereic detail are unmatched by any other game. which is why it pains me to say that if this issue is not resolved or if SOE continues to ignore the plights of its many paying subscribers that myself and many others will be canceling our subscriptions till we see improvements.

please take this issue seriously SOE, i really enjoyed playing everquest 2 and so do many of my friends and family, we just want to see this fixed and continue playing on the charecters we've spent so much time creating.

This is exactly what I am getting. I've seen people post work arounds to some of the issues but in my experience, everytime I try and fix something it usually ends up worse. I am just not going to be playing EQ2 until they fix it on their end and hope that its soon.

I just recently went to Windows 7 and so I had to reinstall everything, thus now my only way to get on is the launcher (which I dont care for tbh). Is there a way to get the old EQ2 launch back?

The same thing has happened to me since the last patch.

The streaming client loads and after 10 to 30 seconds just disapears. If you click play as soon as it pops up, the client just disapears.

But I do know when I hit play it will not stream, it just gets stuck at the loading screen at 32kb or it will just continue to cycle through random amounts of download numbers.

This really sucks as I am deployed and internet time and speed is very hard to come by. I am thinking of just waiting until my new laptop gets here in a few weeks as I will have to download (the non streaming client for sure) the game again anyways.

My EQ starts now, when it starts it says something like

"you need 13GB for assets, if you run out of hard drive space EQ2 wil shut down"

I dont think it is redownloading everything again, some strange error.

To the DEV it doesnt take much to say you are working on it, this is a urgent problem affecting alot of people.

I can tell you there are alot more issues you really need to look at too not related to this.

Seems to work this morning. Since I hadn't deleted anything or moved anything, all the Launcher did was scan and do a small update. Was in-game for about 1 hour and a half. Hopefully all will still be well the next time a log back on.

I feel a lot of sympathy for these people still unable to get in the game,

i thought i was having the problem again just now & had to reltart the launcher, but thankfully it managed to get in this time.

The only thing i can suggest is i went into the /assetcache folder & deleted both files asset1.vdb & asset2.vbd (though i hear you may only need to delete asset1.vdb, so try deleting that one first before deleting all of them),

That genuinely worked for me, & even though i had to reload all the zones again whilst playing, at least it worked.

Sorry i can't be more help to anyone else here, but that 'fix' (& i'm using the term very loosely here) worked for me, & i had been having the exact same symptoms as the majority of people here (though been only paying the game 2 days now, so i have much less to re-download & got it back literally in one day).

i had contacted customer support over the phone and he was able to fix the issue for me, (right click on station launcher shortcut, go to properties, click on compatibility tab, and at the bottom is a check box labeled under "Privilege Level" 'run this program as an administrator' you want to have that box checked. and that had fixed the problem for me =) i hope all of you the best of luck.

This worked for me. Thank you SO much. What I dont get is why did I have to hear it from another customer? This has been going on for 3 days without a working response. Anyway, thanks again!

Apparently there has been some kind of patch.

I haven't done anything in the past 3 days after the launcher broke, but it works without any problems today.

Still no workie for me either. I just re-opened my account and bought sentinel's fate, but he game won't start.

The patcher always seem to hang on the .vpk files when it does its scan. I deleted the files in that folder and let the patcher redownload... They redownloaded but still hangs up on them.

Some errors i get is something about disk is full, downloader requires 3900 megs of space... blah blah. Another error i get is regarding the EQ2SETTINGS.EXE file.. The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000006). I got that message when it was trying to download char_exp2_dragon_generic.vpk

I've pretty much tried everything i can on my end... made sure the port forwarding is correct... windows and router firewall... I just reformatted my computer 3 days ago, xp service pack 2. Any help (or patch fix) would be awesome!

ArgaenDK Loremaster Join Date: May 2006 Location: Denmark Posts: 9	Apparently there has been some kind of patch. I haven't done anything in the past 3 days after the launcher broke, but it works without any problems today.

Illilian Loremaster Join Date: Nov 2004 Posts: 12	Still no workie for me either. I just re-opened my account and bought sentinel's fate, but he game won't start. The patcher always seem to hang on the .vpk files when it does its scan. I deleted the files in that folder and let the patcher redownload... They redownloaded but still hangs up on them. Some errors i get is something about disk is full, downloader requires 3900 megs of space... blah blah. Another error i get is regarding the EQ2SETTINGS.EXE file.. The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000006). I got that message when it was trying to download char_exp2_dragon_generic.vpk I've pretty much tried everything i can on my end... made sure the port forwarding is correct... windows and router firewall... I just reformatted my computer 3 days ago, xp service pack 2. Any help (or patch fix) would be awesome! __________________
