Hi guys,

I'm looking to build a new system, and I want it to run EQ2 well.

So I'm looking for a solid CPU + Mobo to base the system on. I don't mind a little Overclocking, but don't want to do anything extreme.

Don't have a huge budget so these are my thoughts: AMD Phenom II X4 965 BE [$182 CAD] - 4 core, 3.4 Ghz stock. - Add a HSF and can likely OC to 4 Ghz Pretty straight forward, not a big OC needed, should be fine with a good quality Mobo. But clock for clock not a powerful as the newer Core i5/i7 stuff. But maybe for EQ2 it is? Intel Core i5-750 [$209 CAD] - 4 core, 2.66 Ghz stock, 3.2 Ghz Turbo - A good overclocker (with HSF) - Not sure how Turbo Boost works with EQ2, especially if I want to run 2 clients. Core i7-875K [$310 CAD] - 4/8 core, 2.93 Ghz base, 3.6 Ghz Turbo. - Same questions around Turbo boost and EQ2 with 2 clients open. There are some high clock rate dual core options like i3-530 or the i5-650 (both can be OC'd to 4 Ghz), but it feels like true quad core is the way to go for future proofing. I also think I want to stay away from the i7-920 and 930. They have lower clock speeds and pricier platforms (Mobo + 3 channel RAM) than the i7-875K, for example. Feel free to prove me wrong though. Can anyone give me advice on what might be the best option as far as EQ2 performance goes. Thanks for your time.

I would like to know about this as well as I am going to rebuild my current system. I have a core2 duo E8400 (3.0gig) which plays game at high settings and about 30-40 FPS. I run one vid card Gforce 260 core 216.

I will likely upgrade to Win7 Pro and run with either 6 or 8 gigs of ram.

What is the best current multi core out there that comes in over 3 gigs and really how does the turbo thingy work? I will not be overclocking..
