![]() Maybe it is just me, but one of the few things that I dislike about EQ2 is the uselessness of torches and special eye sight. Why have this as a game option at all if there is no where to use these options? It would be exhilarating having a torch in one hand trying to find my way down the dark, damp cavern, not seeing but a few feet past the light. Even the special eye sight being used would have its uses as a timed event. Currently there are no areas where I can’t see for miles and everything in the area, even at night. So where is the surprise when there are roaming monsters? This is one area in the look and feel of the game that needs improvement. Currently I cannot find a way in the options menu to make this happen (unless I turnt he gamma off, then I can't see anything). If anyone has input, please share.

![]() You basically answered your own question - turn down (not off) the Gamma and/or Contrast and use your torch (Alt-L by default) to navigate around. But EQ2 was not designed to be played the way that you suggested. Would be neat though.

![]() I must play with my settings extremely dark because if it's night or I'm in a dungeon I need my torch or I can't see 3 foot infront of me. I also have mob names set to 'only on mouse over' so creeping down a pitch black tunnel can be very exciting and very deadly if I don't use the torch. While I agree at first glance some of the racial/class see abilities look useless some of them aren't. infared is especially good for underwater mob location or finding a way through mobs without pulling in a dark enviroment. |

![]() *Remembers running backwards down the tunnel from Everfrost Peaks to Blackburrow on a corpse run* (blind as a bat) I agree that there is simply no use for infra-vision, or ultra-vision, etc. It would be nice to have some MOBs invisible, (COMPLETELY invisible), in normal lighting, and only visible with special vision. |

![]() One of the things that chased me away from Vanguard was how completely BLACK the nights were. You had to have *two* torches just to barely see in front of you, and even then stuff would come out of nowhere. I finally got so anxious during the night cycle that I just stayed in the cities during that time and worked on diplomacy. I like EQ2 right where it is, night-wise. |

![]() I think the real thing here is that every race has some kind of 'vision'. sonic vision/ultra vision/aura vision/aqua vision/infra vision....yet there's not 1 time where you can use it. what would be nice is if say...I'm a high elf. I have infra vision. if I turn infravision on, I should be able to see invis mobs...without needed to have some cast see invis or see stealth on me. the 'visions' should be the way non-mages/non-scouts see invis/stealth. |

Ultimately, the vision 'powers' are just color tints...and in some cases EXTREMELY annoying color tints. I'm looking at you, Sonic Vision. I agree that yes, what it should do is highlight mobs in some way, or color change them, or something. Unfortunately I think it's something we won't see until EQ3, or EQ Next, or whatever the rumored name is right now.

Turning down the gamma doesn’t work, because it affects the lighting and when you are in a dungeon with other lighting, it looks wrong. When you go back outside and/or in daylight, it looks like it is overcast with no clouds. So a person wanting the ole natural look and feel for lighting/sight would be constantly juggling settings.

So you are saying that you felt anxious during the night cycle because you were afraid of being attacked? Don’t you find that a reason to play a game. In my opinion to make a game challenging to player, you need these types of obstacles for the player. If it was just plan easy, no one would play the game for very long. This is no different than being underwater. If everyone could breathe underwater there would be no use in having totems of the otter or water breathing spells. So either they need to remove the spells/totems or make it useful.

That could work, but would that make it an advantage in PvP? You know once you give someone a benefit like that, someone is going to whine.
