I was wondering if anybody can help me.. I need a new computer, but all the new ones come with Windows 7 installed on them. I haven't heard anything good about Windows 7 being compatiable with anything. Now for my question, how would EQ2 play on Windows 7 if at all. I'm going to be buying my new computer in the next few days, so any help would be very much appreciated...

Works wonderfully on my and my wife's computer.

Most importantly, get a good Motherboard (chipset), then CPU(speed+internal memory), then Memory(4gig or more), then Graphics card.

From what I've seen on the market, you can't buy as good as you could build for the price, but it shouldn't be a problem.

Seems you have to do a 'run as administrator' but other than that it runs better for me on Windows 7 than it previously did on XP on the same machine. No problems at all.

Ok thank you.. I have the "run as admin" thing now on Vista.... So nothing new there.  So as long as I have enough ram to run Windows 7 and EQ2, I should be ok...

I went from XP to Windows 7, so I had some getting used to...  It does work well with the game once you set up the admin rights though SMILEY

I have been testing Win 7 for a long time.  Even before it was publically released.

As an OS its been extremely solid.

I have been running it since release on my game system at home.

Quad core 4 Gigs of Ram Great video card and the works.

It works great.  One thing you may notice is that depending on your video card you will get a few driver failures.  The issue is on the OEM side for the vodeo card.

I havent had a client crash yet while running EQ2 and WIN 7.  If there is an issues most of the time WIN 7 will autorecover.

I've been running Win7 x64 for several weeks now without any problems at all with EQ2.  All I did was move my entire EQ2 folder to my 2nd harddrive, installed Win 7 on an SSD (Intel 160gb G2), copied the same folder back on to the C: drive and made a desktop shortcut for EQ2.exe to launch, no re-installation/download at all.

I'm running on a laptop but it does have a 20" screen, 8gb memory, 8800M GTS and an Intel 2.5ghz Core Duo; I play at 1920x1200 and enjoy it very much.

Since my laptop is a couple years old anything you're likely to buy will be more effective.

Running Win7 x64.  I've only got one program that doesn't work with the new OS (SecureClient).  If I can't find a Win7 version, a Vista version/drivers seems to work just fine.

EQ2 has been fantastic.  I can run the game in a much higher setting than XP.  Or I can turn it down slightly and two box very smoothly.  Very little / negligible delay in switching between windows.  The best part is that when I'm running across the zone, I can hover the mouse over the second account's icon to get a "rear view" window.  That can be handy if the zone has narrow paths or obstacles.  Or if you're flying around, you can watch your progress in the mini window while you go surf/e-mail/facebook.

Overall I've been impressed with Win7.

I am running Win7 32 bit with no issue at all from EQ2.  Very stable and performance equals or exceeds WinXP on the same machine.  I always install my games outside of the Programs Folder (just create a separate Games folder or something).  I have not had to deal with any admin issues that way and do not have to run the game as Admin.

Generally, if it worked with Vista then it should work with Windows 7.  The operating systems are pretty similar in most respects.  Certainly let us know if you experience any problems, though, so that we can assist you.

Works great with Win7 64-bit on a '09 Mac Pro.  Dual Quad-core, 16GB RAM, single ATI 4870 HD. Not the most awesome card, but runs near max settings without issue. I've had no problems of any kind actually with the game.

The real problem is frikin' Station Launcher. I've had to stop using it. I can get it to work with a fresh install, then it won't again after that.

Ya, that issue is not fun.  I wish we had some way to work around it besides simply deleting the extra entries.

Regarding the performance increase, you will probably see better performance as time goes on and drivers are updated to work with the new OS.  Windows 7 should yield better performance in the long run, even if it is not noticable now.

I did not want to start a new thread about Windows 7, But i was wondering if anyone else has came across this. When ever in windowed mode my game resolution resorts to something very low, 800x600 or similar. My laptop resolution is 1920x1080. I want to start 2boxing again but this problem is not letting me play in Windowed mode. Anyone else encounter this before? I am running Windows 7 64bit. With 130m Gt Graphics card. I have fairly recent drivers also.

Well, the "run as Administrator" message, you can't technically fix it, atleast I couldn't.. I right click on the EQ2 icon and click on Run as Admin line in the menu.. It works fine. Now the downloading problem, sorry can't help you with that... Can anyone help with that matter?
