![]() Hi there, This has been a problem that's persisted for quite a while. It's actually a problem on the fiancee's computer. I've visiting him for 2 months and while he's at work I play eq2. He had the problem when he still played eq2 so it hasn't gone away. What happens is as follows: 1. The game will boot back to character select whenever logged into a specific character after a short amount of time (it was always the same character on my fiancee's account and it's always the same character on my account). 2. Once at character select we will not be able to log back in. 3. The only way to fix this is to reboot the computer and even that is not guaranteed. Since this does not occur on other computers (we've tried it on my system at home, but my system works fine, and doesn't have the problem), and since it happens to both accounts, we know it's not a server error with eq2. I wonder if it's a setting or something that needs to be changed? And why it's always the same character in game but doesn't occur with any of our other alts? Has anyone else had this problem? Dunno if system specs will help but here they are just in case. He just re-did his whole system so all driver files are up to date. OS: Window XP Professional 5.1 2600 Model : Dell DXP061 BIOS: Phoenix Rom Bios Plus v 1.10 2.0.5 Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) 2 CPU 6300 @ 1.86GHz Memory: 3070MB Ram I really don't want to have to put up with this problem for 2 months, so if anyone could shed some light on why this keeps happening I'd appreciate it. Thanks |

![]() I don't think this is EQ2 causing it. It's probably an 'idle' feature on your router / ISP designed to cut down on idle / wasted connections. The tech support folks should have some links for you if that is the case, I believe. |

![]() Don't think it's a router issue either cuz it's actaully been tried on 2 different routers and isps but still persists. And it's only one character that it happens to (per account) the other characters on the accounts can connect just fine without getting booted so not sure what the issue is here. I'll wait and see what the tech boys post in rpley though, hoping they have some answers. |

![]() Where is this character? Maybe you could try to petition the GMs to log in and test and possibly call home?

![]() We both played on Antonia Bayle. As I said I don't believe it's anything wrong with the game itself because it doesn't happen on my computer at home or to anyone else I know so I am thinking that perhaps there is a setting on his computer that is incompatible and causing this bug? It's very strange cuz my other characters on Anotnia Bayle do not get booted at all, just the one, and then the weird stuff and not being able to log back in happens. I may try submitting a petition, not sure there's much gm's can do for me there but I can try. |

Another thing to try, since it only happens one on computer, is to rename their uisettings.xml file for that character to something else and see if the issue persists. |

![]() I use the same UI for all my characters, so if it's causing a problem on one would it not cause a problem on all? I can try this of course but would it cause problems importing the UI from another character? Or would I manually have to set up the UI again? I don't use an external or downloaded UI, but I have altered the defauly game UI by moving windows, chaging the window sizes/opacities, etc, within the constaints of the game. |

![]() Greetings, If only one character is getting dropped back to character select then it is a blocked port issue. Usually that type of problem is caused by a router, but it's possible that you have some type of firewall on the computer itself. Here is the specific port information used by the game: EverQuest II LaunchPad and Patch Servers A TCP connection is initiated from the LaunchPad client port > 1023 to patch.station.sony.com port 7000. A UDP connection is initiated from the LaunchPad client port > 1023 to sdlaunchpad1.station.sony.com and sdlaunchpad2.station.sony.com port range 3016-3021 and 9700-9703.EverQuest II Patch:A TCP connection is initiated from the EverQuest II client port > 1023 to patch.everquest2.com, abepatch.everquest2.com, laepatch.everquest2.com, or amspatch.everquest2.com at port 7010. Some of the above patchers resolve to multiple IP addresses, so if you have a strict outbound firewalling policy, be sure to check for all IP addresses using a DNS lookup tool.EverQuest II Game Client:UDP connections are initiated from the EverQuest II client port >1023 to servers on UDP ports 9100, and UDP ports in the range 32800-33000. Additionally, ICMP messages type 0 (echo reply), 3 (unreachable), 8 (echo request) and 11 (expired) should be permitted bi-directionally between the client PC and the EverQuest II servers.EverQuest II Servers Subnets:There are multiple IP addresses for the Patch and LaunchPad clusters, and they may change as the network demands, so check often using a DNS lookup tool if you provide a specific firewall rule for these services. The EverQuest II server IP addresses are currently in these subnets: 64.37.158.*, 199.108.11.*, 199.108.12.*, 199.108.13.*, 199.108.202.*, 199.108.203.*, 195.33.135.* In the case you're reporting it is probably a blocked port in the game client section.

![]() Hi There, Unfortunately we don't have access to the the router in the apartment complex we're in (internet is free and shared by the complex). However we'll only be here for another week and a half and after that we'll be able to access a router (it was happeneing on the same router before too) so we'll try changing the settings when we're able too in a week and a half and let you know if that fixes the problem, if not I will post here about it too. Thanks |

Greetings, I'm sorry to hear that we couldn't get it corrected immediately. It makes sense that it would be the router, though, based on your network setup. Routers run by businesses tend to have a higher level of security and can block the game from functioning. Definitely let us know if you continue to experience this issue from behind your own router.

![]() Update: I still have a week before I'll be on a router I can access, but a new problem has occured. It's no longer just one character getting booted to char select and not being allowed back in. It's now random which character gets booted that I can't get back in game on, and sometimes it swaps between them on the same day. I can play one character for a while then it gets booted so I'll switch characters and then play for a while and that one gets booted but then I can swap back to the one that got booted originally. So it's randomizing which character gets booted now. Is that still a router issue? I am also curious that if it's a router issue why sometimes I'll get booted right away and other times I can play for several hours before I get booted? |

![]() Hi, Maybe only a part of the UDP ports (32800-33000) is blocked? And maybe some chars pick the not-blocked part and others do? Would be nice (and probably is available) if it's being logged, so you can find out yourself which ports were unavailable while playing chars that go back to your character selection screen. And if so, influencing which of that range is being used by your chars on a unblocked range of UDP ports. Anyway, all hypothetical and in practical terms not true. Just my 2 eurocents, -Z-
