it twice "completed" but with the grayed out "updating".....yes that is a vista fix issue

***current problem is ...it always says updating....time was as little as 11 minutes to go....

now it is up to 10 hours to go....this has been going on for about 24 hours.

and yes...my connection speed is very fast.....i should have the game in its entirety by now....my EQ2 folder is currently at 5.98 GBs

anyone know how to get this to play?

tried disable the UAC...no joy....

If you haven't already, then go through the standard Vista steps:

1. Right click on the program launch icon2. Left click on "Properties".3. In the new window that pops up click on the "Compatibility" tab.4. In the "Compatibility Mode" area check the box next to "Run this program in compatibility mode for:"5. In the drop down list make certain that "Windows XP (Service Pack 2)" is selected.6. Under "Privilege Level" make certain that the box next to "Run this program as administrator" is checked.7. Click on "Apply" then click on "Ok".8. Right click on the icon and select "Run as Administrator"

Beyond that, where do you have the game installed?  If you have the game installed in the program files directory then I would advise moving it to a different location.  Something like C:GamesEverquest 2 would work fine.

That sounds encouraging.  Is the time moving down steadily?

Basically, I think the game was able to download the files but then Windows was preventing the launchpad from applying the update.  That resulted in the download counting down normally, but then having to start over when the update was denied.  The UAC is one of the most common causes for that type of issue.

Let us know if the issue persists after the download finishes.
