With accelerated leveling people are far outrunning thier skill leveling vs level.

We all know what this does.. and it is frustrating for new characters to realize how deep in the hole they have become by simply leveling.

Would it be feasable to put in a practice wall, like the one in KJ, in places accessable to players as low as level 10 or so?

The wall is nice for skillups, and would give newer, faster leveling players a place to catch themselves up.

The next update actually has some stuff to fix this.  If you are really low in skill it will be much easier to level it up and the skill gains will come along much faster.  Then once you get closer in skill to your level you will then slow down to a more gradual level.

Thanks for the response.  I actually didn't know how fast new chars were outrunning skills till I rolled a little newb Bruiser Arasai.. she is locked at level 12.. something like 4k kills and still has not caught up her slash/pierce, and its coming sooo slowly.

Guildhall training dummy . Not in a guild that has one? Then find a guild that has it set to public.

I am aware of those.  That is not what I asked for, nor is that the answer to a true new player. low level guild, etc.

The wall was a nice addition to KJ.. and would be nice for lower levels.

Actually that was a good answer.  He mentioned going to OTHER PEOPLE'S public guildhalls to do this, which anybody (even unguilded) can do from level 1 (for the T3 guildhalls at least).  Definitely more convenient if you have it in your OWN guild's hall, but it's not impossible for anybody else either.

Having said that, I'm glad that skills will go up faster the further behind you are.

Would be cool to do this for harvesting.  Just have a thing that never goes away so I can sit my drinking bird on my keyboard and get my harvesting maxed out while im at work or something.

Good answer if I had asked how to skill up, which, I did not.  I simply asked for training walls.

Either way, I am glad this is being addressed.

Since I didn't see it mentioned yet...

While you're waiting for the dev fix, the best way for remedial skilling for combat skills is to find mobs that match your actual skill rather than your level. Divide your skill by 5 and fight mobs of that level for optimal skillup (so if I have 220/400 piercing, I equip a dagger and start hitting lvl 44 mobs, as many as I can find.)

I think it is still not fair that melee classes can afk skill with auto-attack on the training dummy while casters have to sit in front of the client and have to push buttons all the time.

You asked for training walls in a place accessable to level 10 characters.

Training dummies are as close to training walls as you could possibly want, so the post about using them could and should be viewed as a direct answer to your request.

There are already training walls, or a variation thereof, in a location accessable to every player in the game, reguardless of character level or guild affilitation.

I personally think mages should have spell autoattack just to make it fair. And I say that with a straight face.

Training walls and dummies dont improve :

  • Any casting skills unless you are sat in front of it for hours
  • Swimming
  • Harvesting
  • Defence
  • Focus
  • Safe Fall
  • Parry
  • Deflection

And probably more. So they arent ideal by any means.

G15 + L1 nuke + training dummy / wall + A book and some patience?

Umm .. I fail to see what the difference is between the training wall and a training dummy (aside from total HP) ? This is what you asked about in the post.

Aeralik's post just shows they are working on a better solution that having people train a skill using training mobs

yeah. I love this idea.

I've used that wall in KJ to level Healer melee skills everytime since my healers in general just heal we never really get enough chances to level our melee skills.

I agree, they are not ideal.

They are, however, what the OP asked for.

Please explain how a training dummy differs from a training wall?

Why would she bother answering you?  The dev answered her question and you're doing nothing but antagonizing her request.
