Pardon my question but after reading the last year of threads I am confused as to where necros stand solo wise.  I have been split between coercer, necro, and SK for a solo only quester (For the record I have played each of these classes up to at least 25).  I want to complete and read all the quests this time around and soak in some of the great lore.  My plan orignally was to go Necro until I came to the forums here.  How is the class when it comes to questing in general?  I appreciate any information you want to take the time to share seeing how I am at a complete loss for what class.

[Removed for Content] solo? Not a chance. Necros are amazing soloers.

My main is a coercer which is arguably a fantastic soloer as well (least til endgame CC immunities) but I've watched boyfriend's necro take on heroic content with ease. I play a troubador to duo with his necro and it's an amazing combo....all I do is beef him up even more, lol.

The main complaint about necros is not their ability to solo, it's their group/raid viability at endgame. If you're not worried about that, and only care about soloquesting, then you're fine with a necro.  The necro is a safe, steady, reliable solo class.

Absolutely!  Necro's have little trouble soloing.  I do wish the tank pets generated a bit more aggro and the dumbfire pets were DOTs or pets but not both.  But those are problems that I am confident will be addressed.  Meanwhile, we necro's do well soloing.

Definitely one of the better solo classes, it gets really easy once you have tainted heals. With adept 3 tank pet + defensive stance, you'll be able to solo white/yellow heroic mobs if you need to. My necro just hit 60 the other day, and so far I've only ran across a few heroic quests that I couldn't handle by myself. A great class if you want to take things slow and experience all available solo content by yourself without any issues.

Necros are not ONE of the best soloers... We ARE the best. Before you get Tainted Heals with AAs you are king of soloers.. After that - you are God. There is no such class in the game that can solo as well as we, necros. Yes, many CAN solo good, and you can compare soloability between, let's say, Brigand and Templar, but you can't compare Necros with others.

I sometimes forget about that and when people ask in guild or ooc "is ^^ soloable?" I usually answer - yep, easy. And then having that person complaining about failure and how I lied.

necro are on par with SK for solo probly a lil better since necro have tainted heals.    coercer is better solo for any mob that can be stuned/mezed/rooted.

See the trolls are still here trying to chase everyone away who posts anything that threatens their bridge.

And Dav you would think by now you would have figured out that no one cares what you have to say.  Not here, and not on flames.

oh no..  you mean?  no one cares?  but i really really really DO CARE!    /wrist

stop posting garbage man, i know there aren't many constructive issues to talk about but try to find something that is indeed constructive.  if you want to post calling people idiots and cry babys go do it somewhere else in another foroum that allows flaming so we all have an equal chance to insult you back with out being suspended.

people who play necros are wanting to see some changes to the class to make a viable choise again, YES we all konw that TSO has done some nice things for the class but there are still broken aspects about necros that needs some attention.

Can someone give me some advice on pvp please.   I have been getting owned so much that my first action now is to set my pet on the attacker and run like hell hoping the pet delays them long enough for me to get to safety.

Obviously says a lot about my playing skills but I would be really grateful for some lessons in tactics.

Ps, forgot to mention, am lvl 14 atm with mastercrafted gear and spells.

Necros are by no means gimped when solo . quite the opposite really . I find that most of my solo time is spent on my necro because he is great at it . When i want a group , I log my assassin . I love both toons equally  . I actually soloed my nec all the way to 80 just to see if #1 I could , #2 if it would be fun.  It was really fun . Don't get disheartened by all the drama on these forums and give up on your necro because someone said the class was broken . I agree with a lot of the posts stating that we need some major fixes to make the class more waanted for groups , and some issues are plain aggrivating . But , if you're looking for a class that can really pull off some tricks (soloing the unsoloable) a necro is a great choice . I get a lot of "wow!"s while duoing with friends because we survive when we shouldn't SMILEY Grouping is a different story though . Our lack of short fight dps gets us a bad rap more often than not . Since a decent group can burn down normal mobs in 10 - 20 seconds , out DoTs seem very lackluster on the Holy ACT . But the parse doesnt show the things like the heals we threw for 2k and saved the tank's butt when it really counted , or the rez we dropped on the overzealous scout that "forgot" to use his deaggros . To sum it up , the class needs some developer attention , and thats a tall order , but as a soloer , necros are hard to beat .

depends how you wanto play...there are 2 options really...

1. DPS them to death before they kill you...use mage/scout pet

This often relys on using fears/stuns/roots to keep them off you while you and your pet attack your oponent. Lifeburn is also very helpful here as it does very nice damage quickly...Personally I don't recommend this as if, one of your CC's is resisted it often means instant death...

2. Tank pet setup

First thing you want to do is put 9 points in sta, this will give you a 60s knockback, and a 10s taunt for your pet. Use this taunt every 10s, or when necessary...this will keep your oponent on your pet rather than yourself. Of course any knowledgable player will just retarget you after you taunt them, but sometimes you get lucky enough where they dont realize for a few seconds, or at the very least you interupt their attack on yourself.

I used the tank pet setup and it is a lot of fun. I've tried the first one, but after using the tank pet so long, I feel naked w/out it.

After I got 9 in sta, I got lifeburn next...now I'm putting points into the line with the fears/roots and such...(forget the name)

Toughest class you will fight is an sk, all your dots will kick of his health shield, and usually they can out dps you...lulz...but necros can be a lot of fun, and really shine in groups!

I have an 80 Necro (Main), 80 SK and an 80 Illy.  The Necro is by far the best solo'er of the three.  There are a few specific mobs that one of the otehrs can take that the necro can't but the Necro is still overall unmatched solo.  I'f I'm going to group that day I play the Illy or the SK if a tank is needed.  If I'm soloing you can't beat the necroSMILEY
