![]() Basically, I want to be a fae coercer. So, I imagine that I will have to create a fae illusionist, betray Kelethin, and then reapply for Kelethin citizenship. However, my question is: When are you offerred the option of changing your class? Are you offered it as soon as you betray Kelethin (in other words, when you lose the Call of Kelethin ability) or when you obtain citizenship in another city (in other words, when you gain a new Call of X ability)? Thank you very much, in advance!

You are offered the chance to change class on the very last step of betrayal, when you talk to the appropriate class trainer... In your case, the coercer trainer... (once you become a coercer, you can never have citizenship in Kelethin) For a much more detailed information, I would suggest having a look at Betrayal Timeline. |

![]() Sorry, I read that, but I couldn't find where it answered my question. So I can only be a citizen of Qeynos once I become a coercer and never Kelethin?

![]() The factions for citizenship (good/evil) are based on CLASS not race. When creating a new character the race determines where you START, but the CLASS determines where you LIVE. Kelethin is a good city, Coercer is an evil class. Evil classes cannot have citizenship in Good cities, and vice versa. (with the one caveat, if you play on a PVP server, then this is allowed due to the different set of rules that PVP servers have) Any race can be a resident of any city, but the CLASS determines whether you are allowed or not. For example, I have an Iksar Mystic, the race of iksar is evil based, but the class of Mystic is good based, so my character can only have citizenship in either Qeynos or Kelethin, despite being an evil race. In your case, being a FAE doesn't guarantee that you will be a citizen of Kelethin, but being an Illusionist will. |

![]() You CAN be a Fae Coercer, with limitations. Here's how it works: Roll Fae Illy, betray to become Coercer. Betray again back. BUT! NEVER FINISH THE SECOND BETRAYAL! WHen you are supposed to talk to the class trainer, NEVER do it. Note that not completing this step means that you are NOT a citizen of that city, just a "tourist". Downsides: Your CALL will always go to Haven. You Guildhouse call should work normally. You cannot buy a house anywhere (except Haven?). Some merchants will not talk to you. You may or may not be able to get writs from the city you're living in. Hope this helps. I did it with an SK in Qeynos. Howard |

The above post is essentially a trick that keeps you an outcast just so you are not KOS inside a city opposing the alignment of your class. Your mileage may vary as i wouldn't exclude this trick being nerfed if too many people take advantage of it. It's not the intended way to play as the choice to make certain classes alignment restricted was a deliberate design choice. If you REALLY want to be a Kelethin(or Qeynos) citizen that is a coercer, a necromancer, an inquisitor or any other evil class, you have to play on a PvP server. If you just want to be a Fae coercer but don't mind where you live, betray to FP. You can from there decide to switch to Neriak or Gorowynn. |

![]() Well, living in Gorowyn is a legit choice you are being given when you betray. I just want to say to anyone who is thinking about it - it's really hard work, unless you know the game and the areas really well and preferably don't start the betrayal till you are over level 20... I betrayed from evil to good on a level 14 dark elf assassin - and man was that a trip... lol.... Not having played the game long and not ever having been in any evil zones and what not - it took me about 3-4 days of very intense gameplay (I enjoyed it actually) before I was a citizen of Kelethin.... [Removed for Content] hard work... lol

![]() Never have stayed long enough in Haven to find if it had Housing, hence the ?. Yes, this method is a "trick". I don't see any game advantage, such as almost-betrayed "class" gets x10 damage boost. Although they do want carebears to stay alignment-oriented, they blew that argument to E=MC(squared) (OOPS! Wrong game...) when they allowed that on the PvP servers. So I don't really see a nerf happening. But stranger things have happened. I personally don't care for PvP as I think there are too many gankers, YMMV. (And yes, I know the difference between hunting and ganking.) I've betrayed 4 toons from evil to good: Ogre Monk (the old "500 dead Gnolls" way), Asrai Wizzy, Troll Prov, and the late lamented Kerra SK. The new quest "Rescuing the Defector" (I think that is the name) is your friend and makes the process less than 2 days. As far as Gorowyn is concerned, I don't like it as it is too confusing to go from the bottom to the top. Down is easy. Howard |

![]() You have to start as an illy and then betray to a coercer, yes. Coercers are an evil-only class, so you'll never be able to become a Kelethin (or Qeynos) citizen as a coercer. You'll have to pick Freeport, Neriak or Gorowyn (the evil cities), or once a coercer start the betrayal process (becoming exiled, living in Haven and being KOS to both sides) and never finish it. The choice to choose a class gets offered as the last step in betrayal (however becoming exiled and KOS in both good and evil cities happens as part of the first step). Note that there's also the arasai, basically evil fae. If the appearances and abilities are OK you could take that race and start on the evil side. Either way, there's no way to be a coercer and live in Kelethin. Kelethin's a good city, coercer is an evil-only class and you can never become a citizen of a good-aligned city while your own alignment is anything other than good. Note: the above applies to PvE. On the PvP servers there's a different ruleset that does allow you to betray an evil-aligned character to a good-aligned city without changing class. I'm not sure how the mechanics work, I don't do PvP. |
